The journey continues at the site of the Battle of Bones. In your last adventure, you found a young man who appears more than he seems. Wizards struggle over his control, and you have come to the underground city of Stonemeet for answers.

like the others of the series, great module!

Chapter 4 started to be something special which is not found from some plain vanilla RPGs. But I still don't like the henchman doesn't level up with my main character.

Series starts to take off from this module

Wonderful, as always. I had a great time with this one. Seemed shorter than the first three, but I'm not sure if that's so. I never did piece together that sword... Oops.
One thing that annoys me, and I don't think it's the fault of the mod, is the rather bad henchman AI. I'll tell you, at the end of the mod, I just let my fool follower die so I didn't have to stress about keeping her alive any longer. What a pain.
My character is a ranger/monk, so I basically *need* Teira (the rogue) as my henchwoman. This eliminates any possibility of a tank (except for me) or a healer (again, except for me, Ms. Potionfarm), which stinks. Yet she acts like a tank, just rushing in there, and no matter how many times I ask, she won't use ranged weapons.
Complaint? Yes. Enough to diminish my score? Nope, not even .25.
I just played this through again and had a very strange, major bug I didn't have before:
SPOILER
Phytha wasn't hiding in her little realm. She was standing at Stonemeet's front gate at the beginning of the mod, and offered to teleport me directly to the battle with Orrick--which worked if I so chose. And Jered didn't disappear--he followed me around, in invulnerable "god mode," almost the whole time, only occasionally pausing to stand outside the Zhent tower. I ignored Phytha and did the mod as normal, including entering her realm, where her pack of skeletons were worshiping nothing. So it all worked, except Phytha was hanging out right on Stonemeet's street, not hiding somewhere.
I'm having the exact same problem as darconis47, I talk to Phytha and tell her I'm ready, there's a flash around the characters, the journal updates, but we're still there, if you talk to her again you can go through the entire conversation again, tell her you're ready, and again nothing happens.

Good mode, well made and I love good storyline
SPOILER WARNING
But im having a serious bug- when I talk to Phytha in her realm and tell her that i am ready, white flashes occur, my journal updates but im still there. I have searched the forums but i dont seem to find the awnser of how I can fick this problem. Help please!!!

This whole series of modules is awesome! Thank you, to Mr. Miller for making this great game.

Another wonderful module. Unique setting and interesting quests.

Amazing how much more interesting modules get when you gain levels. Liked the semi-thinking undead. Outright murder disquieting. Not quite as good as 3. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.
I'm playing this module through for the second time after getting stuck at the witch bug (that was around 2 years ago). Now I can't find the trapdoor to get to the witch.
Can anyone tell me where this trapdoor is so I can get past this most annoying series of bugs and give a final rating greater than 1.00? (I'm almost certain I know where it is but it's not showing up so I would like to make sure.)
I thought these bugs would have been fixed by now.

The fun continues...
I just finished this mod today. A great combination of town exploration and cave/crypt exploration.
Again, as with SL1 and SL2, there are enough side quests in addition to the main objective to keep me occupied for some time. The rewards are becoming more tangible at this stage, too, including some nice (yet still to scale) custom weapons/miscellaneous items.
FIninshing SL4 for this first time has me really looking forward to SL5...

Having a problem at the end here. After the witch tells me she will teleport us, we get the buffing spell and pyrotechniques(spelling?) but do not go anywhere. Pretty frustrating. I haven't the courage to browse all the comments to see if this happened to anyone else.
Please pretty pretty please help?

First, I want to say I em really enjoying the Shadowlords series -- one of the best modules out there. I just started the 5th installment, and really like it.
I have a problem with one thing that happens in Shadowlords 4, however. This is not a spoiler, and is probably something everyone should know.
When you talk to the witch, she does not inform you that the module is about to end. Technically, it doesn't end immediately, but if you agree to her request, she sends you somewhere and you CAN'T GET BACK. The module then ends a few minutes later.
As a result of this design bug, I did not get to explore half of the areas in the module (because I went looking for the witch first thing). I also did not get to collect a reward for one or two of the subquests that I did. It's fairly frustrating.
Still, Shadowlords is a phenomenal series. Looking forward to Dreamcatcher also.

Good intrigue, development and many opportunities to explore the area. One "unsolicited" entry to the Journal before getting the related quest though.

I am just writing the one review for this whole series, but I will rate each one individually.
I am not through Shadowlords and Dreamcatcher, and have begun Demon but have not finished it. That being said, initially I was not so sure about Shadowlords. The first module didnt seem that impressive to me, and I had just come off an incredible module (read my Cormyrean Nights review), but I stuck with it. If nothing else, I knew it was very highly regarded, and was at least a completed set of modules. I am happy I did too.
With the first module, I felt a little cheapened by the state of Scornubel. I couldnt quite remember where in the Realms it was, but I was sure it was intended to be bigger than it was. While only a portion of it might have been showcased at the time, I got the feeling it was supposed to be one of the everything you need in one town town. I suppose thankfully, you dont spend too much time there. The initial quests were fun. Youd think by now more innkeepers would get fire beetle insurance or just spend more time furnishing their basements.
I played through the set of modules with Teira as my companion, so I cannot comment on the others. I was intrigued by Anera however. I am curious if the other characters had their stories tied into the main one as well though.
One of the things in the first module I did enjoy was talking to the deer and making the totem (I was a druid). It kind of seemed like that stuff got dropped in the later modules. I tried speaking to the cows in the second module, but I ended up just using compulsion to get them to join my troupe. In the second module I really enjoyed the town and the layered dungeon. It seemed very official D&D supplement and was my first hint that this was heading for greatness.
The third module was nice, but ended up becoming a bit more of a standard dungeon crawl than Id prefer.
I am not too familiar with the Battle of the Bones so I dont know if that whole town of skeletons has any basis in fact, but I did find it charming. When I was faced with the knowledge that Id have to destroy them all to save the world, I was a little distraught. Of course as a druid I had to maintain the balance, and good natured or not, a town full of skellingtons is just not right!
The final thing I enjoyed about Shadowlords was Jergals presence. I had been introduced to this lost god in one of the Cyric novels and had found the idea of a non-evil God of the Dead intriguing (Kelemvor not yet existing).
All in all the Shadowlord series is fine when taking together, but some minor issues individually left me wanting. Dreamcatcher on the otherhand well thats another review.

Apparently you have to comment to vote. Of course I only noticed this some time after playing it and now I don't really remember much detail about it.

I just finished SL4 today. Again, this is a very good module. The non-linearity is similar to SL1. There are many chances to role-play your character with various quests for different alignments. I felt more relax skipping wrong-alignment quests here than in SL1...maybe because travelled this far, my character is powerful enough. In SL1, you are just starting out...so you feel you need every ounce of EXP you can get :).
Battles in this module were for me very balanced. I played Cleric lvl 6 (level up to 7 in the module) with Nooble paladin-to-be as henchman. There were some pretty tough fights that *almost* killed us (the crypt comes to mind) but we managed to get by. Maybe because I have both HotU and henchmen AI pack by Tony K, which let me manage henchman inventory so I can give Nooble better armor/shield, so I have no henchman problem.
I have some comments though. The town stonemeet is somewhat sparsely populated compared to the first city in SL1...not sure if this is the intended effect or not. The area of the city is big, but not so many people/zombie/goblin/whatever there.
Another comment is about lawful/chaotic alignment shift. telling people your real name make you more lawful? I think it's just normal thing normal people do. Now if you just make up some crazy name...that can be wayyyyy chaotic. my point is...to remain neutral, you have to do some rather ridiculous stuffs...like tell people your real name and then steal from them (to drop lawful points). I understand that alignment shift is somewhat difficult to do and sometimes is quite subjective though.
I am happy to say that I encounter no bug whatsoever with v.1.08.

BTW...where's nooble romance? i got his oath to become a paladin...am i on the right track? between my cleric and him, it's more like mentoring than real romance. no flirt no sweet talk no heart warming moment at all!

Great ideas for alternative living on display. Kinda feel a bit sad that I had to bring it to an end. Mines play a bit slow, and some items hard to find, but all in all, a great time.
What shall I tell you? After wandering through this wonderful part 4 of Shadowlords (enjoying some delicious glasses of Franconian wine, by the way, sometimes bottles of beer, too) I must accentuate that everything in these stories worked fine (no scripting errors etc.pp). And now I reach out for part 5 with my Mac (G4mdd1250, OSX.2.8, NwN 1.62). My ICQ/AIM is: pixelgeist. Greetings from Franconia/Bavaria/Germany ...

No bother, i found it.
I compleated the final part as well. I liked the love story... The only flaw i found in the game is the lack of chests. There are numerus rooms with nothing inside.
Apart from that it was a very good adventure.

Chapter 4 of Adam's first series. Stonemeet is one of the weirdest, most enjoyable cities you'll ever visit.

icowden, that didn't happen when I played through, so I'm not sure what to suggest. Although I didn't actually encounter *any* vampires in the South Caves at all, just vampire spawn, which don't have a gaseous form, iirc.
