Description
Welcome to the town of Zimnan, a small border town in Orrowar. Zimnan is a dangerous city : thieves and thugs abound at every turn. You're the latest addition to their ranks. The Zimnan thieves' guild has hired your unique skills. Rumour on the 'street' suggests the hiring came from high up in whatever organisation backs the guild. Someone has a special interest in you. In Thief!, you play the role of a thief, completing 'jobs' for your reputation and for the gold involved. The structure of the jobs is freeform, you can kill, sneak, talk or con your way through - you don't have to kill a single person. This is far from a hack & slash adventure.

Nice use of rogue skills, but the module is just quest oriented. Would be better if it had some story to it. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
I think I understand why I never got pass the first mission.
I just looked at the NPCs with the DM client. The first mission can be called mission impossible. I know the guys are following you through the area transition was Bioware doing but still. Simple guards with half-plate armor even the level 1 guards?
I guess asking the Guild Master to recommend a mision might not be the best idea. I suspect that the script involved might only check your level treating equally a Rogue lvl 4, a R1/W3 and a R1/F3. If your char is not a fighter and if you fail to sneak and pickpocket somebody (easy to fail) your only other option is to persuade somebody yet the item you probably need to do it is unobtainable (you will not have enough gold to get it. I would have been happy just to borrow that item for the mission). So at the end you are alone facing a bunch of fighters in heavy armor with no chance to rest or opportunity to split them up.
They could have been other ways to succeed:
- to be able to lay a few traps
- to use scrolls (e.g. sleep/confusion)
- to be able to access from a roof/window or secret passage
- to use some diversion (disguise or other)
- use of mission specific henchmen
If would rate this module around 3 if I had to vote. Luckily they are a number of better rogue modules around.

Great Mod! This is the first mod I've completed since just starting to play NWN (been cooped up with Ultima Online and DAOC, haha) NWN is turning out to be an excellent gaming experience, I can't believe I've missed the boat for so long!

Extremely dated. On the easy side. Non-sensical layouts. More of a mission-based playstation2 game than a CRPG.

This is still my favorite Module of all time, because it really feels like a module ment for thieves. I know you havn't been here in years, but I still hope there will be a sequel.

Well, TSP, if you do remember me, I'm still available for scripting / module building help. Don't be afraid to drop me an e-mail...
I like to hear chapter 1 is done, way to go!
Iruyum---------------------------
I remember once in High School... a friend of mine came out of the bathroom. A few steps later, he had a revelation, and I could see his eyes light up. He marched back into the bathroom, and a minute later, he triumphantly came back out. I asked him why he went back into the restroom, and he replied: "I forgot to wipe."

I thought the module was........ ok..... I thought it had some good ideas. I liked having that one guy suggest what equipment to take for each mission. I didn't mind that you didn't get any exp for killing anything.
There were a couple of things I really didn't like too much though:
1) there are way too many doors/chests/etc that require specific keys.... what good is being a thief if you can't pick these locks!?!?!?!?
2) if you are not going to award any exp for kills then you should at least award exp for picking locks/disarming traps. or the successful use of any thief skill.
3) Merchants in this mod I thought were wayyyyy overpriced. they sell items that are so expensive you'd have to be uber rich to buy them. and the jobs dont pay that much.... I played through this mod with a 3rd level rogue. I only had 850 gold to begin with.
4) The last job where you have to get the shipment I think is impossible to complete successfully. I successfully got the shipment but was unable to get back to the guild. the only way to complete it (i think) is to go through the portal and get put in jail until you give up the shipment.
then you have to go through the ranting guildmaster telling you your an idiot and you suck n' stuff. and get no gold! This is fine if this is what you had in mind but I thought maybe this was a bug.
Chapter 1 is finished. However it's still VERY rough around the edges and I want to do some polishing and fiddling with various aspects because I expect a lot of things just don't work at the moment. Additionally I'm on a 56k at the moment and it's a bit large so you probably won't see it til I get back to my better connection at uni. This means October probably although I may get an urge to distribute it before then.
The other bit of kind of good news is that I've started work on chapter 2. Whether it'll see the light of day any time soon is anybody's guess.
No, unfortunately the next module isn't done yet. Mainly because I'm very lazy. However I do really hope to have it finished soon (the barebones are pretty much now laid out, I'm doing the penultimate main story quest for it and then it's a matter of going back to do some polishing, adding a bunch of side quests, and then doing a lot of testing).
The module picks up with your character having moved to another city as shown at the end of the Prelude, and the rest of the characters from the guild have taken over there. It begins as your character is about to take on the most difficult job of their life.
It's slightly more plot oriented than the prelude, and it picks up on some of the hints in the first module (eg. the spy inside the guild, what Tobek was looking for in Harradin's mansion). Of course nothing is resolved but it pushes the story along a bit and hints at even more important future events.

Fun mod. The only complaint I have is...stuff was on the pricey side. I would spend my ill-gotten gold on more equipment for the missions. I sold back most of the stuff I got, but still. It was a great mod, though, had a lot of fun playing it through with my rogue/bard. Question: is the next game in the series out yet? And what is it called? I couldn't find anything that sounded like it in the vault. Thanks.

Hint: Talk with the guild master after doing all quests to end the game.

I love this module. It really put my (5)Rogue (4)Ranger's skills to good use :). Keep up the good work and finish the next part soon :P

Well Done. :)
A well made module but you had to leave me hanging DIDN'T YOU. Been waiting for a thieves guild module with proper jobs for a while now.

I have a version of your module with a henchman and some animations, sitting in pubs for NPC's and such petty +blocked+... If you like post me a valid email, yours is mailer-demon frequently."On one truth in life I hold a bet - to be like Hitler you must be dead!" _________________________ "As the edge of midnight falls, the warrior stands alone. Visions of the fighting past - a thousand tales untold."
