Description
It started out as such a simple quest... there you were, a bold adventurer, seeking a magic staff. There was an inn on the edge of nowhere, with a group of friendly locals willing to help... and then matters got more and more complicated, more horrific. A maze of sorrow and despair unfolded before your very eyes, enveloping all... a maze that sang a song of lamentation for those who have passed away. An elegy. ...a dramatic story-driven module, by Stefan Gagne. Full Version includes a full soundtrack, voice acting, and intro movie. (Updated to v1.1)

A brilliant horror module. ...I've nothing more to say.

The mood of this module was probably what stuck out most for me...I honestly was really creeped out and uneasy at certain moments. I liked it a lot--at times there was true tragedy and true sadness felt by the player. Like it was a mod for an adult player, not just mindless KILL THE ZOMBIE + FED-EX THE MAGIC AMULET. The backtracking was a little much, but it really wasn't even that bad---just because the encounters in-between were so short. Anyway, I honestly loved it and am downloading the sequel as I type. :) _________________________ Pansies! Rosemary! Violence! My wedding bouquet! -"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

Quite sort (probably its worse point), but great module. Intense story, and a very good prelude for its (far superior) sequel.

Very engaging story. Got stuck at one part so it`s good that a walkthrough is included.

A very dark and depressing storyline that grabbed me and wouldn't let me quit playing until I had finished. The only drawback was the backtracking but even that was minor. I really liked the storyline and props.

I understand that the game has to be played with a level 5 character. Can anyone tell me you to create a level 5 character since there seems to be no automatic leveling up when starting the module.

A unique, exceptional module that's very different from most of what I've played. Instead of the usual dungeon crawls and epic quests, you get a moody, surreal story with genuine pathos, which is a real rarity when it comes to modules. That isn't to say that that's better - I certainly wouldn't want every module to be like this - but it's an interesting departure from the norm, and it shows that you can do genuine storytelling in NWN. I originally tried playing with an 8th lvl fighter, but the module ended up being a little too easy, so I went to the opposite end of the scale and played a Wizard 3/Cleric 2. As such, that made things very challenging, but with some careful planning, I was able to make it through to the end. There was more backtracking than I'd like, but that's a minor complaint. Really, the only thing I didn't care for was the voice acting: none of it was very good, and I read a lot faster than the actors spoke anyway, so after a while I mostly stopped listening.

Really good and unusual module.

Second best MOD i've played yet for NWN. (First being the sequel ee2.) Great atmosphere and a lot of fun. 9.5 -D

The story is very intriguing. It is short but it nonetheless a very fun game.
