Description
Dungeon crawl with a plot. Starts out pretty cliche - find youself locked in a castle full of things trying to kill you. But it gets more involved from there. No NPC conversations, because no one is still around to talk to. Story is told through mysterious books that know all about you. This is the final version, see comments below for details regarding updates. I hope you like it, please tell me what you think. Even if its a 'worst mod in the history of the world and I hope you die a horrible death for making it' reply -those are funny.
Very well made mod that is exactly what it says, a classic dungeon crawl, the kind we all love so much. Interesting monsters and details too, although it may be a bit more fit for a lvl 15ish character than a lvl 20. All in all an enjoyable evening of NwN. :)

Quite a fun little hack-and-slash with an enjoyable setting and interesting exposition. _________________________ NWN1 Scripts: Miorg Inventory Organizer Switch-Based Secret Doors Suite

It's been so long since Tony and I have played this mod. It was so much fun watching him make it, then playing it. I'm really looking forward to remaking it for NWN2 WITH him. :-D -The fiancee'

I must say, I've found this mod to be quite original and fresh. Interesting. A good hour of gameplay indeed. BTW, a minor bug. The two stairs that get to the towers can be destroyed, an that makes the mod impossible to finish.

Tony - hi That was me you are quoting. I maintain a list of "themed community mods" at the bioware module forums. Your mod is cited no less than 3 times by very active players - so I had to play it. 1 Very very good atmosphere. 2 Some nice touches i.e. the books that were innovative for its time. Frankly the mod ha aged well - though I would request you address some of the bug noted. It would take long at all. 3- there is a stronger hack and slash bent to this mod and I suspect more players enjoy this than are willing to admit :D However, some roleplaying dialogues (i.e. moral choices not puzzles and traps)in NWN 2 would make a good thing better. Cheers and keep up the good work. We all look forward to your NWN2 contribution
Highly commended mod that is often cited as an important step in any community campaign.
*Does a double take, then drinks some water and does a spit take* WHA?!?!?! Cited? My ever swelling ego demands to know more! Oh, while I'm here, I have a question for anyone who might have an answer: I'm deep in the pre-production phase of my NWN2 remake, and I have a lot of ideas that, for spoiler reasons, I'd rather not get into. My chief concern is that these ideas might take away from whatever it is that got such flattering responses. I noticed several people said it was a "good departure from the same old, same old." So my question is: What made it such a departure? What made the mod stand out as being comment-worthy? Just plain what did you like about the mod? The player feedback is the entire reason I'm remaking it for NWN2, so I'd like more. I learned a lot from the critiques people gave about the difficulty, loot, undead/construct rules, etc. I'd like to know what needs to stay the same so that I don't get so caught up in "improvements" that I ruin it.

Fun mod and a nice little plot, to boot (although it's mainly hack and slash). I especially appreciate it because it's tough to find good mods at high character levels. Also excited to hear that the author plans to keep building for NWN2.

interesting concept in deployment. Good hack & slash module, maybe a little more power for the final enemy, or down the guards and the level requirement

I thought I'd come back and take a look at this after a VERY VERY LONG vacation from Neverwinter (I would have posted under my registered name, but it's been so long that I've forgotten it, how horrible is that?) I'm insanely happy to see people enjoyed this module, and I apologize for neglecting it so much. A few responses, in case anyone checks back: 1)sorry to hear that there are still a few bugs here and there. Unfortunately, I'm not going to fix them, but I have a really good reason that I'll announce later in the post. 2) I'm not sure about compatability issues with the CEP. To be honest, the thought never occured to me. 3)The bosses at the end were a great disappointment for me. I always thought they were dull and repetative, but never got around to doing anything about that. Again, I have an announcement. 4) This was the last mod I completed for Neverwinter. I had others written out and partially developed, using the CEP, but work got in the way, and by the time the opportunity came around again, I had moved on to other addictions. (Blame City of Heroes) Now, the announcement: This module will be remade as my FIRST module for Neverwinter 2. I've been keeping track of the upcoming title on their boards (I post sometimes as CapGalacto) and a lot of what I've seen has me insanely excited as a builder. The remake, which has the working title "AN UNFORTUNATE CASE OF MISDIRECTION," will be more or less identical to the original, with the following exceptions: - better bosses, that will vary both in appearance and strategy. - two new levels, including a level before the castle. - the library level will become a "castle proper" level, featuring a new (and in my opinion more interesting) boss. - whatever improvements can be made visually with the better graphics, higher level of customization, etc. - A developer's cut ending with multiple outcomes. - Greedo does not shoot first. Thanks again for downloading the mod. I am hoping that NWVault becomes a major NWN2 hotspot. Right now I have a notebook filled with module plans, and I'll need someplace good to post them all :)
