Well, here it is, Baldurs Gate. I started to work on this module last summer but I stopped last Christmas, I got tired. Id say this is the best Baldurs Gate module yet. Its around 20mb or something. Its not finished, dont think I will finish it. But please, anyone that wants to continue my work, please do. Its 50 areas big, lots of quests and stuff. The total size with the haks are 125mb. Yes, it is enormous but maybe it's worth it? The haks are included in the rar. Theres a bunch of stuff added there. If you decide to download this, please read the .txt files for more information such as installation, comments etc. Its very well explained. I decided to submit this module (and haks) so maybe someone else wants to continue the work. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. The Package includes: The Baldurs Gate module New Music New Loading screens Custom GUI New Tilesets NPC Portraits NPC Heads Lots of new Placeables New Weapons and Clothing

I enjoyed this module. The only issues I saw were slight mispellings, and the enemies were way too difficult. I played as a wizard, and was killed instantly when I fought Tarnesh at the Friendly Arm Inn. I also believe the cutscene was badly scripted, because Gorion died out of nowhere. Sarevok didn't attack him once.
Anyways, I really like the attention to detail, and I think the placeables were used very well. I like how you adapted the chars to NWN (Phlydia was my favorite!) and enjoyed the travelling scripts, which I haven't seen in any other module. I was rather sad when I reached the 'end'. I was really looking forward to seeing how you would do Baldur's Gate, (especially the Duchal Palace ball scene, or the dopplegangers impersonating your friends) and was dissapointed that it ended so fast. I really hope you make more, and would play it in a heartbeat!
Even though i followed the extraction directions. I can not get this game to even show up in the module menu. If anyone has a suggestion please let me know. =)

I liked this better than the original--it was easier to understand what was going on. My suggestion would be to make it even easier with more information. Things like map notes and journal entries really help the player keep the areas in mind better. Thanks a lot for the effort!
Even though I have never played the original Baldurs Gate (I was introduced to it in BG2) I am very curious about this mod. Its good to see some old games brought up to date with some of the new technologies out there. Anyway, what I would like to relate a bug to anybody or the original creator. I cannot get Jaheira to level up no matter what I do. Has anybody else encountered this problem and if so how did you rectify the situation? Please keep in mind I am in no way a skilled programmer so please keep it simple.

Wow. That really just sums it up and I'm impressed at the area layouts being so close to the original. _________________________ Stranger things have happened.........
When will more Baldur's Gate / Tales of the Sword Coast / Shadows of Amn / Throne of Bhaal material for NWN be posted and where may we contribute ideas and work for such work or works?

Is someone else gonna continue making this mod, or is it dead?

Just one unrelated quesion, what kind of name is Mr. McPants?
I've been trying to play your module but I'm obviously doing something wrong during installation. I'm following the instructions in the read me's exactly, but the module isn't showing up when i click on other modules under new game. all of the hak files went into my hak folder, the music files went into my music folder, and the gui files went into the override folder. What am I forgetting to do?

Say, I'm wondering:
If we could get ahold of any of the old designers from the BG era and get ahold of the BG toolset or APIs, I wonder if I could write a program to simply "convert" the Infinity modules to Aurora modules. Any thoughts?
Sorry to hear that you can't finish it, this looks great. The only bugs I've found is that the Silke quest doesn't start, the main character doesn't run away from the dark-clad armored figure and you can't seem to ressurect any fallen friends.
If any takes up the project, let the rest of us know.

This looks promising i hope it is bcause it takes darn long time to download.. peace man
I would have liked to mail you personally but see no way of doing so right now so I caqn only hope that you come back this way sometime.
I have not played this module but may get it soon, however I would very much like to see a finished version. I'm certainly no script wizard but would like to see this project finished and you seem to know what you are talking about ;) So, if you would like a copy of the original ( by copy I mean a DVD oem version and not something illegal ) then I would be happy to post it to you wherever you live, anything to see this work continue. I would be happy to help with textures and models but would be much happier to sit back and play the final version ;)
It would be a massive project however and not undertaken lightly. I have full maps and walkthroughs should that help.
If somebody else with the building knowledge should also like to take this on and would like the game and other info then please let me know. [email protected]
I took a quick look at this on the toolset and must say that the module looks fine from the player's side, but has a lot of building difficulties. For example, a load of scripts named at_XX and sc_XX, all of which control First-time-talked variables. Ironically, I use only two, check_hastalked and set_hastalked.
Furthermore the areas that are finished are VERY placeable-heavy, very large and largely uninhabited. Where encounters are used, they do not have spawn points, resulting in, say, 3-8 gnolls (the entire population of the gnoll stronghold, btw) arriving right on top of you.
All in all, this module shows signs of being an early effort on behalf of the author, and would need quite a lot of a dedicated builder's attention in order to reach a fully-playable state. Incidentally, I would have interest in doing something with it, but cannot simply for the lack of owning the original BG (which I last played some 4 years ago)."Et Eärello Endorenna Utúlien" _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Just axactly why you will not going to finish this project? Why? Why?!!!! Arghhhhh!!!! ... *chill down*... I have to commend your work here so far. Too bad I can't tell you to 'keep up your good work'.

I refused to play any unfinished BG module....so someone please finish this! I neeeed some BG in my NWN!
In my own version of this I have not included Khalid as a henchman, he rejoins you later on just before heading off to Amn (ie BGII). Anyway my view on the BGI npc's is to keep the concepts of them from BGI but in reality to completely re-roll them under 3ed rules. Also I am making them level 1's with levelup rules for them. They will level up to the standard PCLevel-2 of henchman according to these rulesets, hence they will multiclass into the appropriate classes.
Cheers, Faen

This is an excellent reproduction of Baulder's Gate. I would recommend anyone to play this module if you are looking for a good module to play solo. _________________________ Where's Me Ale, you dirty goblin-eating snot?!?

Wow, I am impressed! This looks absolutely fantastic. I always wanted to see a promising looking Baldur's Gate Module. Hope people can continue this amazing project!
Keep up the great work :)

Just one thing, thje NPC's i.e khalid, imoen etc. will probablyneed some tweaking. The strength 15 khalid had in bg1 is much worse then strength 15 in 3rd edition. same goes for most other stats, that is bonuses come much earler now and change at regular intervals by regular amounts. Maybe characters stats should be changed so they're similar to they're original bonuses, not numbers.

I'm downloading it right now, and would be VERY interested in giving it a go - if for nothing else, just to see BG running with 3rd Edition rules. For this, I would only like to ask Phoenix for initial help, as well contact from other folk who would like to carry on Phoenix's project.
My own view would be to not try and replicate the mages from BG1, as you are converting to NWN Engine you may as well convert BG1 to 3.0 ruleset whileyou are at it.
Its always been a premise in D&D that spellcasters though visibly appearing weak make up for it significantly in the power of the spellcasting. I always play mages have done in first, second and third edition rules and I would not consider them any less powerful under third ed. The mistake many make with mages is they try to turn them into a tank. Thats not the point of them really. If anything 3.0 has made people concentrate on not being a tank and using them as efficient combat casters with some on the run buffing ability.
Cheers, Faen
ps: sorry if there are two posts here... Opera auto filled and sent the form as soon as I opened the reply window. :-)
