Description
This mod is part two of 'The Infernal Crown,' a four-module campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. It is intended for single-player use with first level characters. You begin the campaign as a member of a secret society of vigilantes, whose motto is 'evil unto evil' (think Dirty Harry or the Punisher), so your character should be evil or neutral in alignment (lawful evil is ideal). Humans, Half-Elves, and Half-Orcs are ideal choices for character races. Dwarves, elves, halflings, and gnomes are not recommended. Single-class wizards, sorcerors, and rogues may have a tough time with the module, but henchmen are available to help you. No Hak-Paks are required. The Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark expansion pack are both required to play this campaign (older SOU-only versions are available on my website).

Okay, I didn't see you had to ask for the henchmen.

I miss the old henchmen in their rooms.

1. I'm still playing MOD II but I just want to confirm the alienated hostile henchmen syndrome. First it was my rogue but then Viviana went hostile. And they don't show up in their rooms afterward. I'm in the hallway outside Relaron's condo unit. I'm suspecting my henchmen are miffed because I keep gravitating toward "Good" rather than "Evil". Which brings me to point two....

2. When I began by having to kill an innocent kid I was quite put off. This isn't something I find amusing or entertaining, even in an "evil" MOD fantasy.

3. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the creativity and hard work involved and I'm enjoying the MOD otherwise. (I'll just have to remember not to play EVIL Mods in the future). I experienced several other bugs that have already been mentioned. Including the hesitating PC turning and stopping, the fact that the newfound henchmen do not level up, etc. But the hesitating PC tic eventually went away.

The first mod in the serie is the best one - not many bugs - promising storyline... but it become so hack & slash later in other mods that it spoils all the fun...

I dont like to bash uselessly on the modders work but the creator should really do his homework and revise all the modules for a ''bug-blasting'' seance.

The rating is for the whole serie

I am playing version 2.03. I have a problem. I transitioned from Chapter 1 with all henchies, spoke to Aseph, then went outside. I went to the store and to the church nearby and tried to access their store inventories to shop. In both places, the store window "closed" immediately. I re-launched NWN to see if that would clear it. Same result. I re-booted. Same result. I launched Chapter 2 from the module selection menu with saved character. Same result. I detached all henchies. Same result.

By the way, when I re-launched from the menu, I came in without henchies of course, but there were two "copies" of three out of four of the henchies in their rooms, and I could hire both if I wanted.

Any thoughts? Did I mess something up? This series has real promise and I'd really like to finish it.

Why is the content rating mature?

Quite good short module, better joint to the background than part I

Part two is pretty solid again, a simple mod that does the basic things well.

But again, I'm waiting for the chance to be Really Evil. *pout*

Hi!

I just finished part I of your series and very much enjoyed it (I promise I'll vote soon!) The thing is I just downloaded the second, but when I tell Master Aseph that I'm ready for my next mission (after killing the Red Wizard) the screen just fades to black! I tried to simply export my character and load part II, but then I start in some shop, without any of the henchmen and no journal entries. Somehow I think that's not right ...

Please, help?

I'd have given a much higher score (8.75) if it didn't seem like a beta. I have latest ver (even checked bob's page), but still start in wrong spot (had to die and respawn to get to town). Both bartenders pay way too much. You can rest in broke mtns (suprisingly).
I have no idea how to get multiple henchmen.

Sorry, wrong module

Regarding henchmen suddenly going hostile:

SPOILERS

Okay, here's my situation: all my henches died during the ambush by the Red Wizard on my way back from Candlekeep. I tried the solution given: God-Moded, hacked my STR, killed the henches, grabbed their gear. . . and now Samar does not have the conversation option to summon the henchmen. In short, I am screwed and have to go back to a prior save.

Okay, I'm a moron -- I just scrolled all the way down and saw that this problem has already been addressed. Forgive the stupidity, please.

Hello --

I'm enjoying this series very much, and I congratulate you on the good work. There aren't really many modules this good, in my opinion.

I have run into a slight problem early in IC 2. I'm out in the city (the start city), and it's really tough to move my pc around -- every few moments, she stops and turns to the henchpeople. Is this typical?

Anyhow, thanks in advance for any assistance you might give.

I am enjoying this series and I am only on the 2 installation.

This is the first time I have ever ventured into trying out an evil character. I have a Lvl 5 fighter that I am hoping to make into a Blackguard.

Thank you!

Not as good as chapter one, but still head and shoulders above the Bioware OC. I am playing a Fighter/Monk and was able to survive without too much, trouble, although the grizzly killed me. Overall good module.

Similar to the first in this series, only slightly better. Extremly well done for an "evil" type module, worth playing this series for this reason alone.

What started off as an interesting series deteriorates into a slugfest.

I just finished playing Infernal Crown 2 and overall I thought it was a good module. There are a couple of minor things that took away from the module a bit.

Spoilers

The biggest problem I had was the Water elementals. The drown attack was just too much for the characters. Using the provided fighter at level 5., he still only had a 45% chance to save and my character 5rogue/1ranger with a +1 ring had a 25% chance. Some of the boss encounters were a matter of whether I could get a sneak attack off before they pounded me and the henchman. The encounters were difficult but were winnable. The only other problem I had was the money and items. I've played parts 1 and 2 and purchased maybe 3000gp worth of items and still most of the things that could make a difference are way out of my price range. I ended up part 2 with approximately 19000 gp. I started this part just short of 5th level and ended at 7th. I've completed all the missions I could find. Like I said overall it was a good module with a couple of minor problems. Keep up the good work, getting ready to start part 3.

I don't remember exactly, but I don't remember finding any rest zones in Infernal Crown I or this one, (which admittedly I didn't get very far into).

Posted by bobsmods at 2004-08-31 15:53:00
Vonzipper: fair enough, you can't please all the people all of the time. Just out of curiousity, though, can you tell me which dungeon/area you found too hard/tedious because of limited resting? I thought I had put at least one or two rest areas in each dungeon ...

Anyway, thanks for giving the mods a try!

Sorry but I had to stop playing this MOD.

The combo of hard encounters AND rest restrictions was just too much. Having to backtrack through an entire dungeon because you have no choice but to rest severely cuts into the fun factor.

I did like your low gold/magic item approach. I never have liked Monty Haul adventures.

Cheers!
