UPDATED HoTU/SoU VERSION can be found here: http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/data/1094889114000.shtml CC1: Gates of Myth Drannor is a module designed for 1-4 players of levels 5-10, and is part one of the 3 part Claw Chronicles campaign that should lead the PC's on a grand adventure through the War for the Myth Drannor forest. A forest legendary on the Forgotten Realms for once being the greatest of Elven Cities, until its fall 500 years ago under a sudden attack. To this day its once benign shadows are still overun with Devils, and the minions of Hell. Though the lost treasures of the Elves is enough to pull many a foolish adventurer into its now haunted depths. Someone, however, is starting to fight back.......
Played through in multiplayer with 2 people. Plot was very linear, but we like getting into the action, so no problem for us. My wife who played with me was annoyed with some grammar, but that doesn't bother me and I rarely notice.

not bad module, but too straightforward for my taste.

This module could have been a better one if "DM's favorite NPCs show" was not there. Or maybe they are his former PC and party members? I have heard again and again that "Hey your PC is no much against my favorite adventures!" Dialogues and they are really annoying. I stopped playing this module when I met a barbarian called King or something. That is a common temptation which many DMs fall. But that kind of "NPC blowing" is no damn good for players. I know. I have been playing & GMing dice and paper RPGs for decades. Story line of a RPG (either computer one or tabletop one) should be centered on PCs, not on NPCs.

Fantasic mod. Going to start CC2 tomorrow morning. Thanks for the good work, Abaddon. I have played many a mod from this here vault and this one was exceptional. I'll let you know what I think of CC2 when I finish it. When is CC3 going to appear I wonder?

I saw this mod, and thought I remembered starting it once, but I didn't seem to have it. I downloaded it and started it, created new character, etc. After using what few spells I had, I tried to rest. THEN I remembered why I didn't have it any more!! If you ever decide to come out with a version that doesn't require spending most of your time standing around with your thumb up your... well, you get the idea... before you can rest, let me know.'Til then, into the recycle bin with it!!

I found the grammar and spelling errors so frequent and egregious that it was hard to understand a lot of the dialogue. Another pet peeve of mine is stories that are centered around the DM/Modders pet NPCs. Definitely on display here. I almost gave up after discovering three quests in a row that could be endlessly turned in for repeat experience. I abandoned the mod after the conversation with Abaddon in the Crossroads Inn...Another "hot" Drow female rogue? Please.
