Arandie is a young elven assassin living in a large city of Misdahl. Her life goes on day by day, until one fairly ordinary mission changes everything. This is a story-based module, bearing closer resemblance to an adventure game than a CRPG. There is combat, but most of it can (and should) be avoided. There is a main quest to be followed, but there are also many subquests to make the world feel more real and alive. This is a grey world, nothing is black and white. It is also a large world, and the time it takes to finish the game depends a lot on how many sidequests you want to try. The story has some very serious undertones, yet there is room for warmth and humor as well. Contains scenes and hints of oppressive violence and sexual situations, of which the 'adult' stuff can be pretty much bypassed altogether by picking the correct choices in the correct places.

The Hak for this file is now in working order, thanks to community member Thirdpres who supplied us with a good copy.
Thanks also to Hagaar and alklau for restoring the other files.
*poke* Save us all and update the module! 8p Work, work, work, and more work. *Fiddles with fingers*

Vaftrudner, you don't have to kill anything. Spoiler run to a closet, there is a trap door in the floor and you can excape that way.

Among the very best that I've played. Keep it up. A mod like this is one of the reasons why I still stick around good ol' nwn. Bravo!

I think Arandie was one of the first few modules I played. Naturally, it's been awhile, but I've started playing it again. I have to admit that there was a lot of empty space and running around. I don't think I realized I'd even finished the main quest until it was long over. I still enjoyed it, though. @katclanman: I am 80% sure that you don't have to kill everything in the vault. It's been a pretty long time since I last played through that quest (a certain faction became hostile to me afterward, which made visiting Angel a pain), but I'd guess there's a puzzle or something hidden. I don't feel like opening it up in the toolset at the moment, so, uh... good luck? (Seriously, if you're in a real bind and don't mind cheating a bit, just go into debug mode and cast improved invisibility on Arandie.)

I'm not sure what to make of this module. I know it belongs to the Hall of Fame, and I grant that the writer of this module has incorporated many elements that make for a good, out of the ordinary type of module. But to me, the bottom line is how does the player view it. Is it playable and enjoyable. I have completed all the (side) quests offered to date by the Tassu (sp?) family and by Angel (current assignment is to meet her at a boat to capture Jurro, but the boat isn't in the harbor -- maybe I'll check the river, otherwise I am stuck). And I have undertaken the sorcerer's quest to get the book. OK, I can sneak into the vault using invisibility (after stealing the key), and find the tome. I get hit by the trap that damages me and dispels my invisibility, so I am forced to kill the trio in the vault room. I manage to sneak back to the stairs.... and I need a new key??? I'm almost out of invisibility and I cannot rest. Am I expected to kill everyone in the vault complex??? This is not what I would expect of an assassin, a pro. He (she) hits the target and disappears doing little other damage leaving the authorities mystified. More damages gives them more evidence to figure out who did it. The trouble with this module is that it is so nonlinear and nonconformist that there are no hints or clues as to how to proceed. The walkthrough isn't!!! All it does is point out what the official "main path" consists of, not how to do it (like most walkthroughs). When I checked the "walkthrough" for guidance as to what method is used to in retrieving the sorcerer's tome,it only said I was to complete it!!! So is Arandie really THAT bloodthirsty?? I noticed quests that would seem to indicate she isn't (the distillery quest, for instance, gave a way to avoid needless killing, or the farmgirl outside the BS Tavern). The problem is I don't know. So Should I proceed to act Chaotic Evil and just kill everything in sight, should I just assume I'm no good as a player (since no one else seems to have any problems with it and everyone loves it, or should I just admit this module is beyond my comprehension, rate it a 1 and advise my friends to steer clear of it? Has the bar for excellence been set higher since this module was written? These are not rhetorical questions. I would really appreciate sone (constructive) feedback. Right now, I am frustrated enough that my inclination is to give it a 1 and just walk away from it.

Happy to help.

The override didn't change anything, but I ran the script and got out. Synshie had left already, but I loaded an earlier save before I entered the temple and everything is good now. I'm doing various tasks for Mistress Saranside. Thanks for the help. _________________________ Stop by the A Dance with Rogues wiki: Link

The journal entry says someone's at the door, but nothing is happening for me. I see a maids outfit on the floor in the main room, but I'm alone. Resting several times did nothing. I think Synshie is already dead at this point in my game. I'll try the override first, then the script. _________________________ Stop by the A Dance with Rogues wiki: Link

I think the 'cleaner' is supposed to open the door at some point or whether you're supposed to be able to open the door and then speak with the clean. I remeber her running up to the player once the door opens. There is a brief conversation with her, she's been cleaning you up after your sessions. There is another slave down there, you can speak to her. You'll be able to leave the slave pen, visit Syn, speak with her, then go back and agree to work for Angel's friend, your new mistress. If you don't you'll end up with stat penalties and you'll shake every once in a while, assuming the scripts are still working. The illness/addiction is pretty annoying so you'll want to work for the mistress.

Ah, thanks for the info. I'll revisit that room and see if something happens after a while longer. _________________________ Stop by the A Dance with Rogues wiki: Link
