The story seemed original but my character got turned into an ugly buffoon when I started, and I couldn't stand the lack of choice in characters' faces. Especially elven ones. Why won't it work without that deathmagic social thing ? Transforming a character's apparence without the player's permission is kind of... T.T... Excessive.
And even more excessive when it's not a new character but a saved one, that is used !

Not worth it!

The background story is interesting if not original. At least this module is suitable for blackguards, death knights and dead characters destined to be revived and return to the Prime. Yet, the implementation is pretty dull. May be the module would be more playable and enjoyable if the monster respawning was dropped or adjusted significantly. The module was still playable although tedious up to the point where I went to get the flute. I ended up in a large area with the same respawn problem, add epic traps to that and things that need to be unlocked in a specific order except that (IMHO) the author decided that a single clue was not necessary. Module deleted.

3-4: It is clear the author tried to make something interesting, but still fell short. With more work it might be worth the download.

Very good.i liked a lot the "hellspawn".ihope chapter 2 comes out very soon;just 1 thing after the 3 respawning of the monsters in the troll hills and the mountains the thing became boring, you spend a lot of time fighting beast giants and hobgoblins for a little xp bonus and:Where the hell are the lich ashes????
Good job.

It's been a very long time since I have messed with this module or NWN at all :) I'm getting ready to start up with some new module building and thought i would come check the comments on my module here.

I see some people were stuck and having some problems :( I went ahead and answered these questions/issues even though it has been over a year... just in case some others (playing the module now) might be having some of the same problems :)

I also played through The nighthunter Module again for fun and found a pretty big over sight on my part....

In the "under city" of shade after you kill Leevoth and get the second fragment of the stone ...there should be an exit portal there in that room ..returning the player to the desert. I'm sure this caused many people to become stuck and possibly unable to complete the module without using "debug Mode" to warp out.

I have submitted an updated version of the module correcting this problem .. the portal is now there for you :)

The Module has been updated to HOTU as well

Someone else was having some trouble with the "Vampire Quest"

This is a bit funky because the Signet Ring you need for the quest is being held by a Paladine. As you approach Dren's "coffin Area" Vamps will spawn as well as the Paladine. You will be busy fighting vamps of your own while the Paladine battles them as well.

The Idea here was... the Paladine would live through the battles and you would have some dailogue with him after the area was clear... and would need to get the signet ring from him. ( this paladine was going to set up a story arc for chapter 2)

Problem is; the vamps mop the floor with the paladine and he is dead before you ever get to speak with him.

HOWEVER the quest is still very much doable just simply search the remains after you clear the area and you will find the Vampire Signet ring among the Paladine's other equipment on the floor.

You should have plenty of time to get the ring befor any trashcan scripts kick in....but be sure not to leave the area without the ring....The paladine does not respawn.
If you were to leave the area ( Fleeing out the door for your life ...or due to death/respawn) the ring would be lost to you because of trashcan scripts

The Elemental Master isn't a quest just a fun little side area :)

To open the doorway that will eventually lead you to the oracle you need to find the Ruin Stone (located on the top of the platform guarded by the kobolds) and open it :)

The Enclave stone will be given to you once you reach Level 14 and visit Vatar to "upgrade" your abilities. You can do this anytime after level 14 by speaking to Bengee in her Hut.

The Bone Golem will Drop "trade documents for you to return to Jorian ...who is located just outside the sunken citadel.

Mszar:

To open the door in the Cloak tower you need to find and defeat a demon named malbolgia. He can be found down the hall way to the left of the doorway thats blocked by boulders. He will drop the Malbolgia Crystal. Take this to the Imp and he will unlock the door for you ...granting you acess to the lower levels.

Also in reply to you being stuck: Sounds like you have done most of the side quests and you are ready to go visit the Oracle. You can find her in the Thunder Hills within the Toadknoll caves. Should be easy enough to find :) Caves are marked with a Map note.

Great module. Only downside is the very frequent respawning. The lack of immunity items makes you have to really prepare for each monster type. Looking forward to any sequels.

I enjoyed your module. Finished with my Character: Rogue 10 Ranger 1 Assassin 9. (not often you get to level up a character to 20).
Gameplay of 10 to 15 hours an under estimate as it has kept me occupied for closer 20-30 hours even trying to push through areas.
Thank you again for an enjoyable adventure and I do look forward to chapter 2
Custom area and Soul forge a nice touch

Spoilers Alert

Love the soul forge, only ingredients I couldn't find was Lich essence, Pixie bark and Pixie wire, (A hint as to where they were hidden would be appreciated.
My only frustrations were the frequency of respawning enemy, and the need to travel through respawning giants (and it was a long trip) to get to the oracle each time. Would it be possible to build into the floating palace a means of going to previously visited locations as well as to point you just exited?

Tips to other posters:
Vampire quest I only succeeded as rogue and using lots of traps together with summonded and genie magic.... protection

Kindred Key, if you found the warriors crypt look to the other side of the map and the answer will tower before you :)

Cloak tower can't go up, only down, check with the door guardian as to what needed to pass. Though haaaaaard this is worthwhile area to do the rewards in terms of potential companion(s) :) definitely worth dying for.

Had to work hard to complete, challenging, at times a bit frustrating with e.g. some aspects of traveling through respawning previously hard fought monsters to get back to Oracle. Still an overall sense of satisfaction on completing it. I await Chapter 2 with anticipation.

Stuck too.

* Spoiler warning *

Did the spider quest. Got the heirloom back for the dwarf. Got the Vampire quest but I am not strong enough yet to go in there and survive.

Tired of all these respawn BTW. Can we disable this with some DM command?

Got the Elemental Master. Is this a quest BTW?

Still looking for the key to open the door in the Oracle cave.

If the hobgoblins have it it is going to be tough. Entering the cave w/o spell protection means instant death. Unless you get out fast you will be hit by three ice storm followed by three x5 magic missiles. All the hobgoblins are lvl 10 or so.

The bugs in the desert are tough but too slow to catch me. Not sure what to do there.

Help please.

I am greatly enjoying this module.
Now, though, i am stuck trying to find that damn enclave stone. I have been to the first two floors in the sunken citadel. Also i have been through the cave in the floor on lvl 2 and killed the bone golem. I am an assassin type and have opened all of the chests and killed all of the critters at least once (as far as i can tell) any help locating the stone would be greatly appreciated.

I have erased my old Death Knight character since I am creating three new ones. Therefore I did restart this mod with one of my new Death Knight.

First a comment to builders. Roleplaying my existing Death Knight is/was a real nightmare unless you are "lucky" like Aribeth there is no path for a paladin to fall. You will not find a single module on the vault or a PW online to do so and sorry to say you cannot play Blackguard I with a paladin.

So I would like to thank Kelly Johns again for giving us a chance to try that path (altough you need a lvl 10 character) and also for doing a simple think like including ways to switch alignment via roleplay in the mod.

Please don't point me to some alignment shift mod or PW like someone did. Choosing an alignment as part of a dialogue option is not roleplay!
And even choosing some "evil" answer in a dialogue when you are LG is not good roleplay either because your character would have no reason to do so.

Again my character started as a paladin and had no problem growing as such. He became neutral by accident after opening some graves to hunt down vampires. After that I found no roleplay opportunites to make the character evolve to the dark side. I simply decided that he must have died in battle and was taken/revived by some Evil power.

I started the mod as a back-from-the-dead Paladin lvl 7 LN but it only took a couple of actions to turn evil and level up as Blackguard. At last.

Perhaps a note/question to Bioware would be to ask why create prestige class if we cannot roleplay them?

Now back to this mod (at last). I really like the mod so far but I don't think respawning monsters is such a good idea. It already takes my paladin/blackguard forever to defeat some of these so if you respawn them how can we ever complete the mod?

Being kind of stuck where mszar (post below) is.

Oh this look like a tailor made mod for my Death Knight.

To lead the minions of the Abyss in a future war... that's the ultimate goal.

My character is level 31 but hey I don't mind going back to level 15 or so. Besides, I want to drop my Shadow Dancer levels.

Looking forward to play this serie.

My thanks to you on an excellent module. I really enjoyed the private getaway and my other custom content that was used. A few questions/issues (spoiler warning):

After completing the quest in the crypt, the undead you first meet does not seem to recognize you have defeated its "maker" (although the halflings in the village do recognize the competion of the quest).

In the mage tower I cant seem to complete it. There are two doors I cant open and the door upstairs is blocked but I have defeated all the other creatures and searched all the other rooms (the hellspawn are just nasty). Any clues on how to complete this area?

I received the kindred key but where is this hideaway? I returned to the vampire crypt and just get attacked but respawned vampires. Is it in a different area or did I miss something?

At this point I am stuck (got flute, completed quests for clearing crypt, defeating vampire matron, helping merchants in desert, recovered hierloom in troll swamp, cleared crypt, defeated elemental mage, defeated ettercap boss). What do I need to do next to access the ruins in desert or other blocked areas?

Thanks!

It seems like you did something to tick off all the commoner factioned creatures. You may have to consider restarting the module. Out of the 400 or so people that have played the module no-one else has had this problem. Same thing with the soul forge. The forge has worked perfectly for everyone else. I am not sure what you could have done to make these things malfunction but I would suggest starting a new game. I would suggest that you not perform alot out of character actions like "attacking the towns people..etc" these things will cause the module to malfunction.

Posted by Zyk ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-10-04 07:26:00
The Reason you lose certain items when you load up my module is because there is a item filter on the Module that removes anything with Immunities.

Posted by MrKez ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-10-01 12:30:00
Sorry for the double, but I forgot to mention that when I load a save game, I lose some items that I buy like dragon slippers, greater belt of light, etc...

Posted by MrKez ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-09-30 18:41:00
Ive retrieved the jewell shard from the ruins, and now everyone is hostile, even the genies. Also the soul forge quit working before that.

Posted by Zyk ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-09-13 07:37:00
All you need to do is enter the temple a creature will spawn named "intelligent ettercap Volo" kill him and get his head to return to the farmer. There is no need to go in the tree-houses or anywhere else. Hope this helped.

Posted by Lomondra ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-09-12 14:53:00
ok, I use noticed you have an update on 9/11 (I downloaded mod on 9/6)....so does this update allow the cattle-spider quest to finish? If so what do I do, redownload and start all over?

Posted by Lomondra ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-09-12 14:12:00
I can't seem to finish the woods? Got two tree houses and one tent needing specific keys and none to be found, temple got in one door and had search on and found nothing for a key, so how do I finish the cattle-spider quest?
