Description
You start in the northernmost fishing village of Lonelywood, one of the Ten Towns in the region. A new leader has risen among the barbarian tribes, uniting them and threatening to sweep across the Ten Towns, levelling all they come across. A mysterious barbarian shaman, Hjollder, has sought you out, hoping that you will help him to stop the tribes from going to war. Only through uncovering the secrets of the frozen north can you hope to forestall the imminent invasion... Features # Starting at around level 20 (single player), HoW will take you into the newly added Epic levels. # A henchwoman to help you on your journey, whilst at the same time adding to the story herself. # 26 areas, ranging from frozen mountain passes to barrows of the undead. # Fully scripted for both Multiplayer and Single player. # Dozens of new custom items. - Based roughly on the Icewind Dale Expansion of the same name.
Hi Jedijax, thanks for your comments on this module and my TotL one. I appreciate your support and I also got your email about other projects I should work on, I'll answer the email separately though. The henchwoman in this module was not from the original or anything like that, she was created by me especially for this module - I always try and provide at least one companion in my modules and I tried to develop this one further than Derrick from TotL.

Just like Trials of the Luremaster, by the same author, is a wonderful and entertaining conversion from Icewind Dale's expansion. One of my regular adevntures, this short module is everything a conversion should be. Congratulations to the builder. The reason I give it an 8.50, is that the material is not original; however, where did you get the henchwoman out of, my friend, is she an authentic addition, or did you pull her out of some other content? Very well developed and interesting character.

Thanks for your feedback, hfrank. I'm glad you enjoyed the module - despite the one or two minor difficulties you came across. In terms of other modules, there is my Trials of a Luremaster module which is also on the vault. Fingers crossed I will also be releasing a module in the next few weeks after finally finishing a module I've been making for years! Just needs some testing now. Thanks again for your support.

Refreshingly literate and coherent (nice to find an author who knows how to use a spellchecker). Only complaint is that combats were too easy for my Fighter/Weaponmaster. Had to crank up the difficulty to Hardcore D&D, and my character still didn't need to take any healing potions before the final combat. Otherwise, I regret only that the module looks to be a stand-alone. Would like some Epic-level adventures by this author. Only game-engine glitch was that the back door to the final chamber wouldn't trigger, so I probably lost some interesting magic items. There were a few loose ends--the significance of the magic mirror in the innkeeper's room, the Spirit of the Forest quest implied by the ranger in the village. Hope that the author has more yet-undiscovered treasures in the NWN Vault. If not, hope he is working some new adventures.

In your INSTALLATION document, I believe you mean a ".BIK" file, rather than a ".BIF" file, should go in the NWN > Movies folder.

Thanks for the kind feedback and ratings, guys. I'm glad you both enjoyed the module.

A very good module, I played it solo with a level 17 ranger/fughter and rhe supplied henchwoman. None of the fights were too hard for this combo, but casters nay need to be a higher levl.

Of the handful of modules I've played, this was my favorite so far. It was thoroughly immmersive and professional. The dialogue was well-written and engaging: there were enough conversation choices that I almost never felt like I had to choose an out-of-character response. The provided henchwoman is indeed a very interesting personality. I took a 17/1 Sorcerer/Fighter through this and found the difficulty a bit easy, but so much so that it was boring.

Thoroughly enjoyed this shortish mod. I played with a party of Sor(14)/Pal(15)/Bard(14) who ended up 17/18/17. Dialogue was sharply written with no typos, which was great. Atmosphere was a particularly strong point ? I appreciated the barbarian society in a way I haven?t before in other mods. The town was another highlight with memorable (believable and non-clichéd) characters and, again, good dialogue. The misty areas we fought through were also well designed. Combat was a little on the easy side for my party (who are quite well equipped) with only the insta-deaths causing one complete party wipeout ? other than that there were a few deaths due to being careless. We took the henchperson at the beginning but left her on the floor fairly soonish since we thought combat was more interesting without her. SPOILERS The last fight was fun ? we played it through 3 times. Once the Paladin basically killed everyone, once my sorcerer Time Stopped then Empored Firebranded and IGMSed everyone, once two of us got scared and the other slaughtered. Another highlight was trying on some armour in the mage tower on the Isle, leading to 2 remaining scared PCs and an old mage expending his scant remaining lifeforce beating up on a really big demon :) We reloaded and flogged the armour to some innkeeper ? he gets a problem we get 70k gp :) Noticed only one minor bug which was that the dwarf smith at the end acted as a shield-factory. I wasn?t carrying the damaged shield ? another PC was ? but I could get the dwarf to keep making me multiple shields :) Thanks again for all your hard work! f&i _________________________ NWN2: Big Font/High Res GUI // Extra Spell Swapping // NWN1: Colourised Scrolls // Both: Reviews and more

Took my first OC character through this and never got around to voting. I can't give much detail. Never played the original, but it's easy to separate a good conversion from a bad one because the good ones are built like good modules in their own right. This is a good one. This was one of the first good modules I played, in fact. Crisp writing (I have no idea how much it's copied from the original, but I liked it), good story (certainly copied from the original), and wonderful area design. The starting town evolves over the course of the adventure, good example being the trapper quest (don't remember exactly how you're supposed to go about resolving it, but you eventually have to confront the Ranger until he reveals his secret). A nice enjoyable little adventure all around. Big issues I remember having ... the death shield creatures on Burial Island were a real pain for my warrior, but nothing terrible. The last few areas with (a Sahuagin temple, I think?) seemed rather devoid of life. And the ending was a tad abrupt.
