Description
You start in the northernmost fishing village of Lonelywood, one of the Ten Towns in the region. A new leader has risen among the barbarian tribes, uniting them and threatening to sweep across the Ten Towns, levelling all they come across. A mysterious barbarian shaman, Hjollder, has sought you out, hoping that you will help him to stop the tribes from going to war. Only through uncovering the secrets of the frozen north can you hope to forestall the imminent invasion... Features # Starting at around level 20 (single player), HoW will take you into the newly added Epic levels. # A henchwoman to help you on your journey, whilst at the same time adding to the story herself. # 26 areas, ranging from frozen mountain passes to barrows of the undead. # Fully scripted for both Multiplayer and Single player. # Dozens of new custom items. - Based roughly on the Icewind Dale Expansion of the same name.
As I have not played the original, I cannot compare. However, I enjoyed the high lvl adventure a lot, and was pleased that it was one set on non-planar soil. While it is linear, this does not distract from the tale. I was quite caught up in the peacemaker role, and even liked the simple joy of restoring a family. Never knew that a Rogue/ Bard/ AA was such a great marriage counselor! I also went w/o the head override. Not too distracting at my settings, and I simply gave the henchwoman a helm. This fixed things quite well. I enjoyed the dialogues a great deal. Just noticing that certain choices may not be available upon next meeting makes the speech selections very important. This is a possible reason for replay value in itself. My only quibbles are little ones; nothing major. * The Ranger vs three trappers story never was resolved. And I never saw an option to hunt the culprit, and finish this quest. * Certain dialogue sets would repeat earlier choices if all was complete. It might aid immersion to have these removed or restricted, or simply have these characters speak in 'floating text' common when revisited. * No dragon treasure stash? Especially with another dead dragon in the entryway? This may be duped from the Original, but pls consider adding a pile of coins or something to feed our inner Dwarves. Well done!

Great module that I had a lot of fun playing. Burial Isle atmosphere was really special. Only quirk I had was unable to complete the Ranger quest. I noticed one comment mentioned two of the brothers were killed. I heard one brother was killed but might have missed about the other one. Does hearing about the two brothers complete the quest or is there something else? Thanks for a great mod!

This is a great trilogy ( I did not play the original games btw). An absolute must play IMHO. * Minor Spoilers * Hi Glenn, Thanks for your answers (in the other pages) I have just completed the trilogy with my Knight (Monk/Cleric/Cot) who reached lvl 20 just before the final fight. Had to check the hint once since I could not locate somebody on the isle. Still have no clue how to solve the village subquest (spirit of the forest) I may get to solve this one next time I replay HoW. The toughest part was indeed the island (probably reloaded once or twice there) and Gloomfrost. The final fight was a walk in the park with this character. In your other message you explained to me how to solve a specific puzzle the trouble is I only found one tomb in the entire area (the one next to the altar) so I have no clue where the other tombs would be. Also in the hobbit village nobody gave me a quest may be they don't like humans or something.

Hmmm... I'm biased, of course, but to me it seems that the community is really hungry for modules from the start this time around. They've learned to love community-made modules with NWN1, after all. Phoenixus's Tragedy in Tragidor already has almost 7000 downloads and over 100 votes. Markus "Wayne" Schlegel's The Pool of Radiance has over 7600 downloads and over 50 votes. Markus also wrote in the NWN2 boards: '1000 downloads and almost 30 votes in a single day. [...]. it took months with AHTD to get half as much years ago.' Additionally, it seems to me that the builders familiar from NWN1 have tended to be (or to more or less slowly become) pretty enthused about the new toolset. Add to that a couple of expansions in the coming years (no official news, yet, of course)... ;) So, there's some encouragement. :D Anyway, thanks for your response & all the best, Lariam _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

LOL No, not Icewind Dale. At present I'm not working on anything. I keep toying with the idea of doing a module that I came up with for NWN 1, but thus far I haven't managed to motivate myself to do it! To be honest I still have my reservations about building for NWN 2. Is there really the demand that there was for NWN 1 modules?

Okay - NWN2 is out! So what are you working on, Glenn? Icewind Dale? ;) _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Had a good time with this version, wish Luremaster was linked to follow. I thought the henchgirl added more enjoyment for me than the original Infinity engine version gave with its wooden companions. Couldn't remember much from the originals backstory and settings though, and I needed them refreshed to pick up the story thread. Thanks for all you hard work.

Really great module. Too bad I had many problems with the final fight due to bugs and design decisions. I will have to replay it with another character to fully enjoy it. Note: The bugs are from Bioware AFAIK not fro the module itself. 1. The shifter class is broken and almost unplayable. Equip your character with a couple of items (e.g. a magic shield and a belt), cast some protection spell (e.g. barkskin), shift to something else (e.g. Minotaur). Your character should be OK, now save and reload and see the problem. 2. Only in this module and during the last combat only I believe I had trouble using Defensive Stanse (Dwarven Defender). The char would be in attack mode but would never attack (similar to the WW Attack bug). These to bugs combined made it impossible (reloaded 4-5 times) to complete the Boss combat w/o using meta gaming and/or cheat.

Oh and thanks everyone else for their feedback. I don't check here very often since I don't build anymore (at least until NWN 2 comes out!), but I like reading your comments when I do.
