Destine was hard to control; had to use a set faction command, but great. I will keep this module to play again.

Start is very nice with movie and all, but after that fights were too difficult for my char and items in the shops were all starting with small letters, there were numerous spelling errors and the overall atmosphere was not very nice. Not a material for hall of fame in my opinion.

This is a very enjoyable module. The door riddle was clever, and nicely in the spirit of its homage. The final battle was very challenging for my rogue (in retrospect, one of the lesser-suited classes for the mod), but definitely doable. The quests were simple, but fun.

The only things that really put me off were the poor spelling and grammar. To be fair, actual misspelled words were rare, but*bleep*nyms used in the wrong contexts were sprinkled throughout ALL the dialogue. (I.e. Your to inexperienced too go their.)

All in all, several hours well spent. Thanks!

Not a bad story. Some flows in a minor quest. Combat balance is not so good, especially for spellcasters.

*Flows in Periodoc quest

When I enter the tavern, he talked to me as if he already know me. But I still can' t understand who the Periodoc is.

*Combat Balance

As said by others, combats are rather difficult and compensated by various protective and healing potions (and there are only few good permanent items). But those does not help arcane casters much.

There are several enemies which is immune to lower level spells and/or has spell resistance. So, wizards may deplete all his spells in one combat and yet cannot kill an enemy. There is no henchmen (other than temporal one), not so much scrolls (no blank ones either) and wands are sold, and there are area in which you can't rest. I have played this mod with a novice wizard once. But quit the game because his spell slots are not just enough. I re-made that wizard and give plentiful of blank scrolls by using "Pretty Good Char Creator". That worked.

Hi! I started to play this mod but wondering if I should continue. Periodoc (spell?) quest seems to be impossible for my wizard. Now he is at his 9th-level. But there are so many monsters with spell resistances and spell immunities. Even though he has improved spell penetration feat, his spells are just not enough to kill those undead. So, then, I have simply cast Invisibility and went straight to the druid, then the spirit. Again, the spirit seems to have some kind of spell immunities and my wizard cannot kill it even after spending all his spells.

By the way, who is this Periodoc guy? I went to the tavern only because the guy in the gate to the wasteland suggest me to spend some time there. I think my PC entered the tavern once. But anyway, I cannot remember this Mr. Periodoc. The quest seems to be triggered suddenly.

Hello!

Just finished the mod.

Destine still does not become friendly at the end of the fight. I had to die and respawn as I remember this resetting all the faction moods.

About the mod as a whole:

On the plus side, it has a fine story. I rather liked it, and play experience was good.

On the other hand, it contains too hard enemies, and compensates this with insane amounts of very powerful potions and gear, but even those are not diverse enough (three cubic metres of Potion of Stoneskin, but only Long Swords +1... at lvl10). I do not like this aproach. I would prefer less buffing items but scaled enemies (I also do not like fighting guards with AC 25+ and finding no gear on them...)
(BTW, how could a 2nd level rogue with a a damage cap of 8 defeat a wererat without a magic weapon? Sneaking past them was no option as they noticed me 30 times out of 30...)

The amount of experience is also rather too much. I understand this is needed to keep the PC on par with challanges, but why not downgrade the challanges, so that handing out thousands of XP is not required?
I think that a single PC fighting two or three times his experience level in a single encounter and then repeating it at least half a dozen times in a few minutes is something to avoid.

I also did not like that I could not sell my items as most of the goods are only bought by certain vendors, and that vendor run out of money.
Also, I could not sell recovered traps, as they registered as stolen.
I understand this is also for not letting the PC have insane amounts of wealth, but how about:
Better scaled challanges -> normal amount of loot and XP -> unrestricted vendors.

In my opinion, for the PC, this story is worth 5 experience levels, not 10. :D

All said and done, the mod is good enough to recommend it to anyone looking for something to play.

Destine is just not in a talking mood after her captor dies. I'm playing a paladin so I'm not hitting her at all when I attack. even went so far as to create a one hit kill sword so Vauldis dies quickly but she still won't talk to me. Any suggestions?

Destine is ment to fight you, Just like the wolfs do in the wolfs quest.. and as soon as validus dies she should turn friendly towards you.. now what I have seen happen, as I play as a wizard most of the times.. is that if a spell is casted and hits them both but that spell kills Validus, because Destine was hit as well she sometimes continues to fight.. You cannot kill her as she is plot..

Sorry that happened but glad you manage to finish the module. BTW interested to know how a multi class player got on.. did you do the quest that I wrote just for thiefs . I am guessing it would of appeared..

Definitely a top mod. However issues about the end. First time killed validus, destine (does not fight) is ok and we go off to village, meet linio and the end. second time destine and val both gang up on me and i die. third time kill validus whiile destine is fighting on his behalf. And she carries on after he's dead, i run out of healing potions, try fighting her and even though i do damage, not hurt. So I run around regenerating and have another go. I gave up in the end.

overall though brill mod. Finished as 8/2 paladin /rogue (just like to use scrolls etc and give lore a boost, ie 14 int 11 skill points as a rogue)

Right, uploaded a new version today.

1) Tweeked a few of the conversations.
2) Added a few new magic items here and there.
3) All of the quest Journal entry's close correctly now.
4) Given the PC a choice of entering the final portal instead of just "kidnapping" them there.
5) Fixed the wand of summoning which had no charges left in it when found.
6) Reduced the amount of cash some items were but also I have stop some merchants from buying certain items, which gave the pc to much money.
7) Added a Journal entry for the Broach that is found, so that now its more clear what you must do with it.
8) Took regen off the Trolls as they where very very hard to kill and it took to long.
9) Fixed the mistake of the wolfs being able to talk to anyone instead of druids and rangers.
10) Added new xp for rangers and druids talking to some animals
11) Added cutscenes.

I have just been playing my mod and found a few mistakes and must say I cannot understand why players don't inform me of these mistakes when they find them as you can tell they are big mistakes..

Hm, I wouln't revoke the mod so quickly, even if the scripts turn out to be real life time hogs - as long as the NWN communizty lives there will always be mod builders and scripters who are willing to help each other.

As for the 2nd mod the ending .. well it was ment to be a quick ending.. but I do understand what you mean..

I have now removed the guards attacking script when you have a weapon in your hand. Not sure if this will help with the slow downs though, also none of the NPC's have heartbeat scripts looking for the Destine Amulet, it is on the conversation.. didnt think that effected the slow down as the script doesn't fire until you talk to some one.

I have uploaded the mod again but if this continues to cause a problem and the time it will take to sort this all out and the time I have spent on this mod in the first place, I will decided whether to remove the module as I really do not have the time to continue trying to get this running correctly..

I do not understand why people are getting all these slow downs and I am sure it has something to do with ATI drivers as I too do experience some slow down but my wifes machine, which is slower than mine but has a Geforce TI4600 doesn't slow down nearly as bad..

Or is it because my scripts are badly written so they are not working right causing the slow downs.. and why is it this has only happen now when it use to play and work fine 9 months ago when I first wrote the module?


I see where you are coming from with the way the hero is taken away without finishing off the loose ends. Might look at that.

The broach you find belongs to the little girl that went missing and her mother (in the haven area) is the one by the kids playing, who tells you that she would be happy to have anything to remember her daughter by..

The heartbeat script (dragon blood and head) is a true pain in the rear - it freezes even a high end pc about every 30 seconds after entering the wastelands.

The hero should get a chance to fix all loose ends (jailed orks etc.) before he gets "kidnapped" to the 2nd mod (convo with Destine) *Destina as a henchman, perhaps?*

The quest for Dane's bones doesn't close properly, the hero finds a brooch in the spirits realm he has no use for - this one might cause the issue with the journal entry wich still assumes you search for Dane's remains.

Ferox died in the portal room - shouldn't he have yielded?

During the final boss fight Destine becomes hostile for about a minute witch could cost her life.

The 2nd mod is way too short - Despinas' disinterest in her adoptive parents fate is not logical. she should at least visit their graves.
A village merchant and some words of gratitude from other villagers would be very welcome.

Unnamed_Warior, the flames in the village were just the icing on the cake, concerning the slowdowns: the hero is burdened with script overflows from almost any Villager NPC. He carries this "heirlom" through all areas.

After less commoners hold their permanent goose chat, I know now that the "Please" unequip your weapons! script of the guards was behind the hostility bug - still a game breaker trap since the guards' pleads could easily be overheared with to many commoners around.

Hi there

I decided to add and change a few things on my module as I noticed that a lot of people are still downloading it.

Got rid of some of the fire and smoke from the village (to help sort out the slow down problems with some machines)

Got rid of a few extra people and houses from the city of darksoul (to help sort out the slow down problems with some machines)

Added a few movies into the mod, intro, sub intro interlude and sub quest plot screen, movie

Place a new sub quest between waiting for the nightfull and getting the gate pass..

I have put a trigger on the conversation at the end of the extra quest so if its day when you finish the quest it will turn to nightfall so that you can get through the city gate without having to wait any longer..

I have fixed the problem with the two wizards in the academy spawning loads of monsters

Fixed and corrected a few conversations

Added a few interjection points ..

Fixed a few bugs here and there, although I am sure there are a couple I have still missed ,..LOL

I will be uploading the updated module tomorrow

Go back to the temple and get the key off the monk (if you havent already) then use the key on the door to the right and that takes you into a little store room.

There are some boxes and opposit the boxes is a wall.. go to the wall and search for the secret door....

You need to be wearing the Darksoul Amulet which you would of found at the start of the game in Destines house..

The Amulet increases your search ability..

Hi to all

Damn I am very sorry about these problems you are all having.. I can asure you that these problems did not exist before I resaved the game with HOTU-1.61.

I am guessing that these bugs etc are because of this.

I will take a look at the game tonight when I get home and 1st edit out the village with all the fire etc and second take a look at the room with the skeletons in it.

Opening the door of the serpentine and arms (inn?) triggers a hostility bug:

both citizens and guards as well as all npc are effected.

Not sure why it should be doing that at all...

will take a look

Sorry about this.. if this is fixable I will remove my mod..

I had some insane slow down on this module then in one room of the academy it was full wall to wall of skeletons that kept respawning. Dono if that was causing hte slowdowns but its unplayable for me :[
