Description
This is Part 1 of the The Light Reborn (TLR) Series. However, all TLR modules are also stand alone adventures. This was a starter module for me and is not my best work, so if you aren't playing the whole series, I recommend TLR - The Children, which is the Hall of Fame module in the series. A shadow has fallen across the world of Harthe. The arrival of a man claiming to be a Veranite, the lost race of kings blessed by the Creator of Harthe with divine power, causes a stir in the country of Anvid. Could he really be a Veranite? Does he serve the Light, as he says, or is he a deceiver? Samuel gathers heroes across the land to do the will of the Virtues -- the spirits of good that he claims to talk to. You are one such hero. But the power of the Dark does not stand still. Who can resist it?
Dear Bruce, WOuld you be able to tell me about the solution to the kamikaze commoners, as someone was mentioning it in the context of my module. Is it as simple as setting them neutral to hostile creatures? In another context, I solved it by a script where if they have at least one level of commoner as a class they don't react in the normal aggessive way when PCs steal from their chests. Thanks John

I finally figured out how to fix the problem with commoners charging into battle. This is a Bioware bug that I couldn't figure out how to fix without rewriting everything. Finally I found someone who knew how to specify that a particular character is always cowardly. I will roll out this fix to TLR 4 also very soon.

Some huge and uninspired areas, but a compelling story is the most important element in a module for me, and TLR1 delivered there. It is an important introduction to an excellent story driven module series, suitable for single or multi-player. My Recommendation: - Not good enough to play by itself. - Not bad enough to skip it if you plan go through the rest of the series.

Number of Players: 2 (Did not taken any henchpeople) Starting Level: 1 Wizard, 1 Monk Finishing Level: 4 Wizard, 4 Monk Well, I was going to give some feedback on this module, I played it the other day. Since you've probably already heard all this before I'll keep it short: Uninspired Encounters, some insanely huge areas, and the scripting was a mixed bag. I remember the adbuction in the Tavern was a little clumsy, it was hard to tell what was going on until we got the journal update. However, I think it's an interesting world with interesting characters, and I think the story elements shone through in a module lacking in other areas. A compelling story is the most important element in a module for me, and TLR1 did have that. It is an okay module and part of an excelling Story driven multiplayer series. My Recommendation: - Play this if you plan go through the rest of the series.

A note about TLR 1: I read through the feedback and messages and there seems to be several questions about this module. At least one person asked "how did this become a Hall of Fame Module?" I had to laugh. Apparently not everyone understands how a module gets into the Hall of Fame. This module *never did* get into the Hall of Fame. It was TLR 3 - The Children that got into the Hall of Fame. With a score of about 8, this module never would have gotten into the Hall of Fame. It's only in the Hall of Fame because all modules in a series get placed there when one gets in. It was a freshman effort on my part and it's only an average module at best. Some people really seem to like it. Some feel it's not so hot. The average opinion is that it's an '8' and I would tend to agree. If you are checking out this module because you want to play all the Hall of Fame modules, my recommendation is to skip on over to The Light Reborn 3: The Children, and play that one. If you are really into playing a series of games, then by all means download this one first and play through it. It's not bad, just don't expect Hall of Fame material. For those of you who have never built a module, please understand that this was built over 2 years ago before any of the modern techniques were understood or even invented. Everyone has to start somewhere. I really don't feel like rewriting this module now that I know how to do a better job. I'd rather move on to something else. I have only limited time available and a rewrite is a months long task. I think TLR 2 - 4 are really good material. TLR 2 is puzzle oriented, TLR 3 is story telling and role playing, TLR 4 is action based. All are good for their genre. But TLR 3 is by far my best module for the mainstream of the NWN audience. If you want to check out something completely different, check out TLR Rescue, my story based PvP module. There really isn't anything else quite like it right now. Imagine the bad guys in a module actually being played by real people. That's TLR Rescue.

Played this in a small party. I really can't see what is so special about this module. It was at best average. The end was very poor. Sorry, but I just can't see how this is hall of fame material.

Don't worry, you're not a jerk. You've just missed the fact that this is a really old module. I made it before I really understood the toolset. (Of course if I hadn't made it, I *never* would have understood the toolset.) Try one of the newer ones in the series. I'm not sure why this module continues to get the most downloads. TLR 3 is the best one. All are pretty well stand alone.

i don't mean to be a jerk but this has to the most boring Mod ever, kill some sterotyped monsters, get some plain mundane equipment to be followed up some fetching quests and uninspired revelations. Sorry
