I hated the respawning rats, but otherwise quite good. I was really starting to get into the story, which doesn't happen too often, but it stops. Frustrating ! Anyway, here's my rating.

Wow...what's an immersive story and a well done mod.
Now, I feel like I just read the first chapter of a famous story and I will never know the end. So many question left unanswered, so many items unidentified !
I lower my rating because this module is too much frustrating.

It starts really good, and just as you feel the thing's about to start, you find out the thing's just a prologue for stuff that's not there.

Howdy folks.
Just wanted to drop a line here once more.
We are at about the halfway point on production for this module with various aspects of the second part completed as well. Shortly, I will go ahead and post a link to our production website so that we can all enjoy some screen shots of Stygia, NWN2 style!
In response to some things here, I cannot possibly see how NWN2 is "dead." Many apologies, but those are words of ignorance, and nothing more. I love NWN1, and played it from the day it came out until the day NWN2 came out. NWN2 is a superior game, and will continue to improve as NWN1 did. Simple as that. I can assure you that the scripts, visuals, characters, options, roleplay, etc., etc., are all translated well to the NWN2 engine for this module, and it is coming along quite beautifully. I think that people will enjoy this remake and continuation of this wonderful and intriguing story.
Please don't come on these boards and bash. That's not what the spirit of this game is about. It is about community, fun, and enjoyment of the spectrum that is D&D in all its platforms. If you give this new-look Witch's Wake a chance, we feel that we have not only captured the spirit that Mr. Bartel created, but really breathed a new life into it from a NWN2 perspective.
We hope you enjoy it, and be sure to check back here for a link very soon.
Thanks for keeping the interest in this one, folks.
I'd far rather see this series continued there, with all the enhanced graphics and streamlined features it offers, then in NWN1. _________________________ Nemo non Morior Anime Overviews MP3 Player Playlist

Hi folks. I'd like to announce that a humble team that I belong to has just received Rob Bartel's blessing to recreate this module using the NWN2 engine. Furthermore, we will continue to seek Rob's guidance in his vision to continue to create his world and this Campaign. There will be some new aspects to the module, but none of the additions should interfere with the original overall vision of Mr. Bartel.
If you have any questions about the project, you can eMail myself or our Lead Designer.

SHEER AWESOMENESS.
But don't play it. It's not a finished work. It never will be. It really leaves you feeling hollow and unsatisfied. It's like missing the series finale for Battlestar Galactica and dying before the DVD arrives. _________________________ If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. I find it... very boring. Basically I can figure out 90% of the story after my character talked to the scavenger witch. Then I wait for surprises. And I waited, and waited... *yawn*. And then there are kobolds... *double yawn*....
I found myself really being drawn into this - I enjoyed the rain, the snow, the dark gloomy village - but DAMN did this end too son, it was over in like 30 mintues. Will the next chapter ever come out?
As good as it is, several years later I feel like it was a waste of time - that's not a slam on your talent, which is obviously there and well represented, but why even take time to create such a small module with no closure in sight?

I downloaded Witch's Wake yesterday evening and, from the minute it loaded and I found myself lying on a chaotic battlefield, it captivated me. I played it in one sitting, and I simply cannot praise it enough.
Witch's Wake is an atmospheric masterpiece of mystery and tragedy - is feels very reminiscent of the excellent Planescape:Torment, while not simply being derivative or imitative. The low-magic, gritty, feudal feel of this storyworld is enhanced and complimented by the constant use of narration, which immerses the player ever-deeper in the world that his or her character is from, but is somehow unable to remember or understand. The quality of roleplaying offered is second to none.
My only regret is the plotline ended on a cliffhanger. The many tantalising clues that pointed towards the story's resolution were not enough o let the player piece everything together - if anything, the opposite. Every time my character discovered something new, it made the situation more complex, not less. Accordingly, the idea that all those mysteries will not be resolved is very disappointing. However, this cannot lead me to vote anything less than a 10 for this amazing work of writing and scripting.

A big, huge thanks from someone living overseas for this module!
You brightened my mood yesterday, after my desperate search for a place where to order the NWN Diamond pack and getting it delivered to Hungary and a bunch more hastle, after finishing the main game and looking for a method to play the game some more until my escue comes per mail.
This module was quite short, but worth the while. I can't wait to hopefully get the next part with my diamond pack!
Thanks also for keeping the download time quick and painless, many people forget that using a dial up line in some countries still is the only way to go online ;)
It has very good roleplaying aspects and I really look forward to see more.
Thanks again!

One of my all time favs, really refreshing and original. Looking forward to the sequel even if I have to pay for it.

Briefly: this is a very exciting module, even today. It's innovative (even today, in '05), mysterious, and really freaking creepy. Some combat is rather difficult, but only because you are basically given exactly what you need to survive, and little more. It features many excellent ideas that have rarely been followed up by the community, including descriptions of xp rewards, a lack of xp for combat, and, perhaps best of all, very specific admonitions for paladins when they behave inappropriately. Lots of fun. I'll certainly buy the updated version when the 2nd module in the series is finally released. -B _________________________ My NWN Blog FRW Character Creator

Sorry but I honestly thought this module was way too short, and the monsters weren't challenging enough

Too bad it's not (dead, that is). If this is supposed to whet my appetite for premium mods, it does so the same way syrup of ipecac makes me hungry.
It's not good enough to finish. It's dry as toast, the story (as far as I got) is thin as Oliver Twists's gruel and the isolation of the PC makes this the module equivalent of solitary confinement. Is it too much to ask for a mod that doesn't involve traveling to other planes and saving the world? No it's not, because there are plenty of community-made mods that fill the bill.
The best thing I can say about it is "Ugh!" Maybe that's why they're giving away the "premium" version for free with the purchase of that other "premium" mod.

Witch's Wake is not dead. If you go to Bioware's NWN site, you will see that they are selling new modules in the Store button at the top of the page (pretty good price range too!). Witch's Wake is a free module that comes with one of the other (not Kingmaker, the other one, slips my mind and the site is down :( ). From the sounds of it, the whole caboodle is in that free mod. Go check it out.
