(1.08 SoU & HoU) This module is the first module concerning Shaddowe (PC included in the zip) a first level rogue. It includes some 97 locations to explore and 36 possible quests, though the completion of some quests will interfere with some quests or cause others to be inaccessible. The module comes with a detailed walkthrough, though I recommend you only use it as a last resort, or following completion of the module to see if you missed anything. Important Note: this module is a rogue class module. Bonuses are awarded for the use of stealth rather than resorting to kills. I do not expect players to be able to get perfect stealth bonuses in all areas, there would be no challenge in that, but there are none lethal ways of escaping combat. It is not a hack and slash module (though there are occasional combat orientated areas), and the pace is meant to be slow. If you do not like this type of module, you have been warned

Great Rogue module. "A Kill" quest seemed to have all possible endings here. I believe everything still works as it should on 1.69. At least it did for me.
Only thing I didn't like is there didn't seem to be any specific quest to end on. One I thought was going to be the big deal and saved for last was over in seconds, and that was it. There was nothing left on the sheet so I clicked on my bed, no fanfare, just failure loading the placeholder for part 2.
Still up there with the best Rogue Modules though.

Scripting, this is advanced beyond Quinn, but after doing a certain cluster of quests, the journal entries stopped, leaving me lost.
It was also too slow paced for me. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Great module anyway... I've just finished it. I'm only sad 'cause the sequel has never been made. Anyway, great job!!!

Hello there,
I've been playing the module for a while but seems so that the quest 'A Kill' does not function as it used to. I'm trying to broker the deal done with Trixus and talk to Galleous, but as they speak there's only one option: not it's... and Trixus shows and slay Galleous. In walkthrough it says there would be 3 different way to complete the quest, but whatever I try, Trixus shows up and I'm able to complete the quest only by slaying Galleous. Is this a bug???

Finished. A 10. Greatest rogue story, and not the killing type. Amazing scripting. The first time I ever locked every door behind me.

This is simply amazing. The ultimate rogue module challenge. All about skills. And very carefully shopping. One mistake andyou're dead. Use the pre-generated PC and don't ever cheat. Instead? Run for you life!
Fun!
One surprise to another. Smart!
I'm not finished, but it's 10 already.

Waouh! What an interesting rogue module! And the writing is excellent, the ultimate sign of any good module. Very smart one, full of suprises and imagination. And I only started; so I hold on my 10 button for now. How come I never heard of this module of yours before 3 years playing NWN, Taliesin_ttlg? I suppose just another mistery among many about this greatest "The book of Shaddowe" story...
See you soon. My keyboard is already tickling. _________________________ @ + jml, level 52

It's a shame there was never a sequel, but it had to be a lot of work to complete just this mod. I loved skulking around corners and waiting for just the right time to move. Sometimes I got so involved in the gameplay my palms would sweat and my heartbeat would increase. I really felt like I was in the mod, not just fulfilling quests. Nice assortment of special items as well. This took me well over 20 hours to complete. It's just a shame I got a level of Shadowdancer when I ran out of quests. Hide in plain sight is so cool!

This is absolutely the best rogue based module I have ever played. By far. I don't even mind the pre-generated character, since it is required by the storyline. Thank you for taking the time and effort needed to produce this work of art. Excellent!

** Potential Spoilers **
I really enjoyed playing a module that was designed for a thief, but I have to agree with superlgn on the minor things that bothered him. Those same things bothered me except for the stealth requirement in the city. That was only so-so. It just took too long to get some places, but having the sewer transport system and the one secret door between the LES and the Suburbs helped.

This is one of the best mods I've played on the vault and what can you expect - it's Thief with nwn's engine combined with a great plot and nearly flawless finishing. And the manuals..wow.

Good story, almost no bugs, very little backtracking, quests come in gradually (no piling on), great documentation. I only looked to the walkthrough a few times, just to make sure I wasn't doing something horribly wrong.
Some minor things that bothered me were the forced character, tiny alleys, and the stealth requirement in the city. I didn't see that much in the dialog/plot that couldn't have been adjusted to allow for a female PC. The tiny alleys were somewhat annoying, if you click far enough ahead, your character sometimes wants to turn around and take the long way. The constant stealth in the city is understandable and although these areas aren't huge, it gets a bit tedious after a while.
Overall a very solid mod, something truly deserving of a 9+ rating. I look forward to additional installments. _________________________ Stop by the A Dance with Rogues wiki: Link

Awesome job. Can't wait for the sequel...well, ok I guess I HAVE to wait don't I? I sent an email about the only things I thought could have used improvement. I don't want to give away any freebies here. :P
Hint people: There's something you can buy to make your life MUCH easier!

Just finished. Excellent work.
Few minor points
- the up transition into the prison area from the sewers didn't work.
- the ship captain of the poppy smugglers wasn't attacked by the spiders
- I found a deck of hazard (random?) and was slightly annoyed not to get any XP from killing an ancient blue dragon. ;-)

Nope - must have just been a glitch.

Darn posts that don't show up. :-/
Anyway on a more serious note the game crashed when I was walking through the "body disposal and its problems" area. I'm just going to see if it is repeatable.

BTW Taliesin_ttlg, you are one of the "FAN" module writers that do a better job telling a story than Bioware.

Losgar Dyn,You said what I felt about this module. This is what an RPG should be. Constant hack and slash...forgive me but....entertains children.
WELL DONE

I loved this mod. If you are not an addict of hack and slash, but like trying to use your brain and patience to role-play through an adventure(s) with a lot of thought put into interweaving the story lines, this is a great mod. _________________________ If you live by the gun, you'll die by the gun.

What a treat this mod was for me. The whole concept of a stealth based adventure breathed whole new life into an already amazing game. This mod has got it all. Totally compelling story, good NPC's, challenging parts, and great tileset work! This is definately one of my top five mods I've ever played.
It is so sad that there will be no second part to this story, as it leaves knowing that the builder left it open-ended.
Thanks so much for the countless hours it would have taken to make such a masterpiece! The only reason this is not a 'ten' is simply because there was some editing that could have been done to make it a spotless mod (mainly spelling and the odd grammar problem).

Great mod, easily the best ones I've played.
I loved the sneaking-oriented approach, although near the end, it's a bit too easy (although, I suppose, that might be just my +30 on Silent Movement)

Wow, what a great work you do for us gamers. I played many mods like a rogue but this one...it´s just perfect and the best i´ve ever played. Thanks so much.
