You have destroyed the Hill and Frost Giants but now you face a greater threat - the Fire Giants. After finding that orders to invade your Kings lands had been under the guidence of Snurre the Fire Giant King, you have been ordered to destroy the threat once and for all. But did Snurre really mastermind the invasions or is he just another pawn used by a greater intelligence?
NOTE This mod requires the included 2 Hak Paks
The mods continue with D1/D2 "Descent in to the Depths of the Earth/Shrine of the Kuo Toa" which can be found here

Solid series. Played the PNP many moons ago, though I do not remember them. Solid hack n slash modules. Each module seems to get progressively better. I appreciate the hard work that went into making these modules. Thanks!

Best G1-G3 conversion on the vault. IMHO despite the module flaws Trev did manage to recreate the PnP adventure look and feel.
There is nothing like the AD&D Ranger (Giant slayer) in the 3rd edition. Giants always did hit hard but a Ranger lvl 10 (with the +10 bonus to damage could take one down in 2-3 rounds). I tried to get that feel of David vs Goliath battle by playing a ranger/fighter/WM wielding a couple of kukris (Giants do have an Achille's heal after all). I don't always agree with the reviewers point of view about the conversion but I agree that the serie is barely average. I however had a great fun with my giant slayer and my score does reflect that.

After playing all three this is my favorite. The battles were awesome. The series didn't leave me tired at all. Well worth playing again. Course I'm an old school pnp player. Thanks for the awesome job on the three.

Mission accomplished, well not quite cause there is a continuum to the story but I think I'm gonna take a break for a while before playing Depths of the Earth :). Still, I find part 1 the best but again it was the first one and I was less tired. Regardless, well done :)
Battles were more difficult than the previous chapters but my fighter did well. I agree with the previous poster, the dwarf's betrayal was fun. Served me right for leaving my first henchman behind , stripping him from all of his equipment. Also, the maps should have been smaller.
These series will surely satisfy those who love pure hack and slash mods but it would be wise to take a break after playing each chapter.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realise the food thing was still enabled - like the other two it should have been disabled :(
The 'inexplicable' xps were supposed to be rewards for reaching certain points in the mod and to compensate for not getting much in the way of xps for killing the weaker creatures, however I think on hindsight they were a bit high...funny my players did not complain too much either lol _________________________ Trev

At last...done! Phew...The last in the giant series definitely seemed to take a while. I'm glad I'm done, and I'm not quite sure it's because it was really fun or that it felt a bit like ending a day at work...I guess I'm not cut out for 3 mod's in a row of Heavy Hack 'n Slash! There was soooo much of it in these mods that under the category they should make a new rating such as 'light, medium, heavy, and then heavier!' This would fall under the latter category. O.K. now to the pro's and con's...
***SPOILER***
I again randomly gained 6000 experience once before going down to the lower halls. Honestly I like experience points so I won't hold it against you.
The end drow woman didn't appear, so that was a bit of a disappointment.
I enjoyed the dwarf who betrays you!!!
I also was pleased with the rogue girl henchmen, it made the ending more fun!
Overall the maps were too big, even for a PnP conversion.
Now my biggest problem...(clears my throat)..Your HCR's are great and I enjoy realism in RPing but if you are going to have a rest system based on food, then make food available!!!!My character didn't rest once during the whole adventure because you are informed that your character can't rest on an empty stomach! I'm a wizard/rogue so you can imagine how difficult it was! (Grumbles..)I just couldn't understand why g1 and g2 never asked for food to rest, but suddenly g3 did, plus you didn't make it available. I checked all shops! Good thing my character was overloaded with loot from the first two mod's.
So, in a lot of ways, this mod shows that you have learned a few things more about building than was shown from the first two parts of this series. However, there are still a few major things which, in my mind, lowered the score compared to the last mod. I am happy to have completed it, but with the troubles from the resting system, it made it more of a burden than a easy going fun six-or-so hours.
Don't take any negative comments personally, please! I did enjoy most of this series and will play something of yours in the future. Thanks for the hard work, I know it takes hours and hours to make these....

Probably better technically than the 1st 2 in the series, and a very nice conversion, but not quite as much fun.
Still enjoyable though, and worth a few hours of anyone's time.... especially if you have fond memories of the PnP original.

Fairly good hack and slash. I finished all 3 and it was an enjoyable series.

But seriously, congrats on the Hall of Fame. These mods are great for hacking and bashing.
Keep up the great work

Technically better than the second module in the series, but overall worse as an adventure (possibly the fault of the PnP module). You can see the author's skills with the toolset are improving, which bodes well for future modules.

You will have to create a folder of the mod name or just unpack it to a temp folder ie.
c:\mytempfolder\Against the Giants (G3) Hall of the Fire Giant King V1.7 or just accept the default directory you used to d/load it to.
I d/loaded the mod and had no problems unpacking it. BTW I will be posting a newer version of Q1 in the next day or so to fix a couple of bugs so you might want to wait to d/load that one. _________________________ Trev
I just found this series, and rejoiced. I downloaded all six, but Winrar won't extract this mod from the file. Says "Cannot create folder Against the Giants (G3) Hall of the Fire Giant King V1.7\Against the Giants (G3) Hall of the Fire Giant King V1.7 The system cannot find the path specified." It creates the readmes and haks OK, just not the mod. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is there something wrong with today's update?

Good solid, well made mod. After the first two "Against the Giants" mods it is more an exercise to get through to "Descent", though.

Absolutely the worst in the Giant series, the king of the fire giant will get immediately slaghtered then you just go around looking for don't know what. Boss fights are still laughable, enemies are repetitive and the caves design is not good at all.
Only one nice thing: the pyrohydra, unfortunately it dies really fast. _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested

Reloaded Eclavdra's room with the new version, much better. She also triggered a journal entry (which we didn't receive in the old version) that moves the story along nicely. Solves two of my complaints at the same time.

part 3 of the classic Gygax series, thorough hack-n-slash.

Thanks for the clarifications. I guess we hit that Eclavdra bug.

Hi Frankie,
G3 (PnP)does indeed finish with the players facing the pathway down into the Depths of the Earth. However when you say "with no information", there is a trigger there that should tell you this and a final Journal entry also telling you that there is more to follow. I have however decided to clarify this and fix a few things and repost it as v1.7
This lowers the ammount of xps for reaching certain stages in the mod (which you mentioned a few posts ago), I have also fixed a couple of minor bugs including making sure Eclavdra spawns correctly (I think there was a chance she would not, in certain circumstances, appear).
Due to HCR certain 'lower' encounters are deemed to easy and xps are not awarded. My own opinion is that in the right circumstances, 'lower' hit dice encounters can still cause problems for a party, hence the reason why I placed the bonus xp awards at certain places - kinda compensation if you like.
As always I appreciate the feedback _________________________ Trev

Thanks for the reply. We just finished G3 and started D1. So I am asking only about G3. Was that really where the PnP module ended, standing in front of a hole, with no information?
And were we supposed to meet Eclavdra? I saw there's an encounter labeled Eclavdra, but it's nameless drow priestesses. I seem to remember running her (I was DM) in PnP, but it was 20 years ago so. Am I mistaken about this?
Yeah, the wienie hordes were from the original, but it's frustrating that there were at least 2 entire mod areas that were worth 0xp (due to HCR I guess), no plot value, and not even much treasure. We got to the end of those caves and realized we had accomplished nothing except waste ammo, take damage, and use up healing potions.

Hi Frankie (INCLUDES MAJOR SPOILER)
Sorry you were disappointed with the level of hardness in the encounters. Some found it hard.
Im not sure where you have played up to, because after G1-3 comes D1-3 and the final mod of the series is being playtested and is yet to be posted which is Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits. So yes it is an abrupt ending because it has not quite finished yet. if YOU HAVE PLAYED D1-D3 read on
'
'
'
You have destroyed the material Plane version of Lolth but you have yet to face her on her own Plane. By entering the portal behind the illusion of Lolth in her temple you end this (D3) module and it is here that you resume your mission in the final mod (due to be posted june/july. Hands up regarding Eclavdra, I simply forgot to put her clone into D3 mod. I will rectify that when I next update the mod. Finally the tentacle whips, I decided since there was no similar weapon, I would leave them out.
As with the PnP versions the mods have numerous 'easy' encounters. My players liked them - it gave them a sense of power to slaughter them.
I hope you finish the story as I have appreciated both your feedback and your votes :) _________________________ Trev
