Description
This is the re-release of my Final Fantasy 1 CEP with a few added features. Custom content is big in this game so be careful where you put the files that come with it (see read-me). I hope you enjoy it as much as I have making it.
OK I doubt I'll get a reply to this but many people have mentioned the Online version of this mod and I was wondering where I can find it at? If that isnt possible can someone tell me where I can get the custom talk file at? I have CEP v2.0 currently and thats not working so I am trying to download like v1.52....
Any info can help.
Thanks

its been 7 months since anyone posted here, is this still alive, i just spent the last few weeks learning the nwn scripting language and tweaking this mod, i implemented tents and cabins (albeit kind of sloppily) and put in an airship, and added like ~30 more areas (added tons of minor bonus dungeons, and one new whole set of areas, accessable only by killing a secret boss). If its cool id like to post my "update" which will be about 20~ megs, since it builds on what you already have (music etc).

Well, true that there are a few bugs but not _that_ much (considering original involved almost no scripting, main bug would be the wizard spawn which can stop you from continuing at all if you don't have a high enough level).
Current version on vault main problem is lack of proper balance really (very limited on build and items to be able to do it easily alone).
Originally, update meant to fix only those things, but I'm getting carried away and keep adding new things ;)
I probably added many bugs as well since I've been scripting a lot. But well, it won't show up on vault before a fairly long testing period online when it's ready for sure.
Eitherway, I'm still working on it and trying to speed things up (I'd sure like to finish before something evil like "nwn2" suddenly comes out and takes all the players away ;p).

Heh, online version actually has tents and a few minor added things (dungeons are still pretty rough on mages who want to kill everything though).
There's much less true seeing/crit immune creatures too.. playing with sneaks is actually nice.
Still lacking many things however, those were just quick fixes until real update that is currently work-in-progress (non-online update currently has over 1700 new items, an actual airship, etc... - since rest are still semi-limited, mages will have many +slots items as well as other goodies like a Gem Box in late game (duplicates spells), will also have Elixirs (instant rest anywhere, but those will be hard to come by)).
About shields.. Even in the current version, you eventually see shields btw.. the Aegis Shield is pretty good too. It just takes a while before you see them (in actual update, you'll see them earlier, like in FF1). I won't deny that it's pretty rough before that for some builds though.
Anyhow, will still take a lot of time before update is up though as there's still much work to do and even more till the update is posted on the vault (will have to go through some online testing first since there's a lot of scripts involved now).
In the meantime, can always enjoy the minor changes on the online version and/or help each others when there happen to be other players ;p
Anyway, was just to say that, although not by same person, this module is still being worked on for people that didn't know.

Bah, i just learned that refreshing the page repeats the post; sorry for the spam.

I agree about the tents. I made it to Elfland with a cleric and was unable to continue due to creatures with True Seeing/Dispel. It is impossible to get a caster past Elfland at all without being able to rest. I think this feature alone is worth a re-release of the module if anyone is willing to do it. I'm not the one, but someone out there is. The mod would be well worth playing otherwise, but as of now it is effectively unplayable. (The simplest option for non-coders is to sit with the toolset and make every area restable, but this cheapens the game.)

Erm...my comments below only apply to the version of the mod that comes with the download... I see there are at least tents online. :)

Not a very good mod for a solo character. No shields for fighters (as far as Elfland). No resting outside of town (you could've at least put in tents or something, as in the original game). Fights get rather imbalanced around elfland...particularly with the ogres.
Nice use of tunes from the Final Fantasy universe. Good simulation of the sailing ship with docks. Obviously a lot of work was done to put together a module of this size.
I downloaded the original to see if I could run it before downloading this one. When I ran it, it says that i'm missing the hak files, but none were included with the download. Where do I get them?

I would have given it a 10 had the Crown bug been fixed. It was annoying to wonder around looking for it. A very well put together mod and a must play for Final Fantasy Classic fans. Caution though to bring some brings, or you will spend a lot of time leveling up.

I'm having the same problem -- the error message saying I'm missing the talk file. Looking in the zip file I don't see the file you speak of. No CEP.tlk.

A nearly flawless rebuild of Final Fantasy I
Posted by Anonymous ( 24.203.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-04-22 20:44:00
BlanchPrez: You're probably missing CEP (or have it mis-installed -- cep.tlk should be in tlk/)

So, I just downloaded this and installed it according to the readme file, but I get this message when trying to run it.
Could not load the module.
Missing required custom talk table.
Help?

This is possibly a noob question... but you've been mentioning this is online. Where can I find the server? I'm a big FFI fan and would like to try this online.

Very good, I love the music. A bit long, but that's ok.
Posted by Evanidus ( 24.203.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-03-04 13:36:00
Not really worth reposting something so big just for that, more problems might eventually be found too... (can't repost each time)
Although too bad it wasn't posted separated (one for module, one for hak/music)
Anyway, if you don't want to bother you have two options:
1. If solo'ing, you could just use the console, and "DebugMode 1" then "dm_spawnitem crown" which _should_ work fine.
2. Mmethod #2 is much more recommended, online version is fixed.. Just get over there, need players! ;)
I'll prolly be playing on it a lot too (again) once there's more players.

Tried to edit the wizard. I didn't work. I'm not too familiar
with editing stuff. Perhaps you could redo it and upload it again. I actually don't mind dl'in it again. Or you could go into more detail on how to edit it.
