Two days have passed since you left the burnt carcasses of the slaughter of Mornbryn's Shield. Along with Fargrak and at the head of the Fury of the Evermoors, you marched down toward the Underdark. With each step getting you farther from Yartar, you still feel that you are getting closer and closer to your revenge. For two days, you led your army down the long and dark tunnel preoccupied by many unanswered questions.. What is this Chanting Chain? Who really is this Tothur? What about This Storm Prophet predicted to walk this land again? Why does he show up in your dreams? The tunnel ended in a large cave. 'We camp here tonight!' you command the orcs. Then you lied down on your bed roll, closed your eyes, wondering how will they all die tonight...'O Talos, guide me...' (*** READ THE README FILE BEFORE PLAYING ***)
I can't get past the beholders in the beholder cave. I win up to the point where the 8 beholders appeaer in the main cave with the beholder tyrant, and then I and any companions just get annihilated. The trouble is that I only had 1 anti-magic globe which I sold in chapter 2 of the blackguard trilogy, and there are no magic-resistant magic items available. What annoys me is that I have high magic resistance already(14 +1 per level for yuan-tis) and it's no protection. My best solution, so far, has been to use invisibility potions and hide behind the central pillar as much as possible before striking stray beholders bu that doesn't work, in the end. Any suggestions?

Forget my previous post. I suddenly remembered that I'd posted previously and had found out the answer. "EssenceOfMithril" is the code needed by ALL PRC users who do this mod as the turn undead script is changed by the prc making it impossible to create it naturally. Ah well back to finishing the game!

I decided to replay the yartar mod after several years and came across a bug I think I encountered before, but can't remember how to solve it. The problem is that when I defeat the mithril golem, it only drops a bar of mithril with the description "some mithril" in it, and when I combine it with the tanar'ri blood in the alchemist's apparatus and use the turn undead ability, nothing happens(i've placed the orb of madmerhammer on the pedestal etc.). I think another mithril object is supposed to appear as well when the mithril golem falls, but no such 2nd object appears. Could you please give me the item-code for the needed mithril object(using dm_spawnitem mithril only seems to make the wrong type of mithril to appear). Just in case there may be some other bug re the altar of madmerhammer, could you also give me the item-code for the enhanced darkness +4 blade? Thanks a lot. I very much appreciate this mod as it gets very dull always playing RPGs as a paladin-like hero.

No NWN2? :( Perhaps something on a smaller scale? Well, good luck with the necromancer project, anyway... Cheers! _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

hi guys, Thanks for your comments. Sync182 & Thousandhorse : My opinion is that even evil guys think that what they do is justified. If killing a bunch of kids is right, why make the character feel despicable?? What's fun about evil mods is that everyone has a different opinion of what or how it should be. Honestly, do you ask yourself if you felt overlee rightgeous or holier than before when you play as a cleric or paladin in some other mods? I tend to think that you do enough evil acts in the serie that the player should feel evil all by himself. Mirgalen: Well, I think we simply don't like the same kind of games..or the same things inside those games. You see, I didn't put any effort in character development or sense of achievement simply because I don't look at these when I play a mod myself. I tend to look a larger picture..let's call it a *storyline development* and if it goes from point A to point B with 2-3 twists. I'm happy with that. Now, for the gameplay and walkthrough..honestly, if you had to reload 20 times, there is something seriously wrong with the way you play and you really don't help yourself by keeping it hardcore rules. About those Super-Hero arsenal items...well, it's an AD&D game..remember? And of course the character will be forced to be fighter..it's a blackguard you're supposed to play! That class was known under another name long ago - the anti-paladin, a fighter-base class of course. Or maybe I simply didn't adapt to the new standard, but to me..a bard/monk/sorcerer/etc..mixed with blackguard doesn't make sense. By the way guys, I'm still working on my next mods. Half-way through. I'll release two mods at the same time. Actually one was supposed to be an introduction mod, but turn out to be a complete mod after all. Since I'll have to make changes in both mods at the same time..I'll release them together. Can't put a release date yet. It'll be the story of an evil(of course) necromancer(yourself) becoming old and aware that life is about to end. You'll decide to go on a quest to unlock the secret of immortality & lichdom. I put custom classes in it, custom spells, etc.. I'm trying hard to make the player feel as an evil mastermind as opposed to an evil bloodthirsty butcher. Stay tuned... Steve

At last I completed this campaign (previous attempt back in 2006 failed due to some broken script - oh and I am still waiting for some answer for that one - did not really matter if some zombie librarian got hostile except that even with the 4 items destroyed and the updated journal entry the door to the Master was still closed). Well, this is in no the best module ever or anything close to that. I'll be more than happy to put this in my Hall of Shame list right next to the Paladin trilogy. Most of the time the module was either boring (come on everything was just push over in that tower protecting a certain relic and so was the last boss) or frustrating (Gee those simple Yartar soldiers are all as good if not stronger than the "average Hero who saved Neverwinter - so nobody else noticed how illogical this thing is?) Did I get some sense of achievement out of this? Not really. True I used Hardcore setting (but it's my default anyway) and I kept all my henchmen alive from end to end (no raise dead) and never used a single heal potion (so I got enough to open a potion store I suppose). I finished Barbarian 11/BG 10. On the other hand, I was a bit amused by the "those who tried to stop me failed and so will you" speech, how could I since I was forced to reload 20+ times due to various bugs or design decisions as if the campaign was designed to make you fail (so are we talking about console game or RPG in the pure Heroic Fantasy tradition?). Worse perhaps, you do not defeat the enemies with skills or strategy but with an arsenal of Super-Hero items and using all cheesy tactics you can possibly think about (What else to do if for instance you get surrounded by enemies with a combined level 5-10 times over yours?) not to mention a character forced to be some kind of min-maxed fighter. My character did not grow as the story progressed. He certainly gained levels and items but he is still as childish and immature and the end of chapter III as he was when chasing rats in chapter I. Sure I did not expect a character development like Elric or Raistlin but look I am more attached to some NPCs like Fargrak or some of the early henchmen than this character. Beside, the only thing that kept him going is no more so he should feel kind of empty now I guess. Oh I BTW, I would probably never have managed to complete this without the excellent walkthrough written by Gibbi. Too bad he did not include some combat tactics just in case one needed them. Talking about tactics, other than the obvious hit and run, darkness is your friend (Darkness too) so is blindfight/ultravision and KD/sneak attack and a sometimes a henchmen/summon to create a diversion. With the fall of Yartar I think it is time for me to delete this campaign. Yet, wether we like it or not, we should all thank Steve B as this is AFAIK the only blackguard campaign ever written for NWN and btw to this date (where some people are wrongly assuming that NWN is dead) I have not seen specific modules for classes like Arcane Archer (or other Archer), RDD, DwD, shifter, PM, Shadowdancer or WM. May the furry of Talos be with you always! ;-)

Well, now that I've finally finished the series: I liked it. But I have to agree with some others that I didn't get the feel of a truly despicable person on his/her way to bring death and destruction to the masses. It felt, to me, more like a change of perspective where I was a misunderstood Good Guy and everyone else was the Bad Guy. *shrugs* But, it was a fun change of pace. _________________________ All I ask is a chance to PROVE money can't make me happy. Sync182, indeed, the blackguard doesnt have a restriction in that area but the direction it develops is towards fighter. I mean, u get bull's strength as a spell, u get strength when level up if u choose the recomended. And since blackguard is some kind of mirror of the paladin class, it get to be armor plated. But yes, you are right, there are alot of dangerous combinations u can achieve but Steve couldn't have personalized the character if permited a broad band of classes. _________________________ The enemy of my enemy is my friend. @ zyraxes Yes...just re-read the readme and saw that I did indeed miss that line about the Blackguard being fighter-based. It's a pity that the author has chosen to restrict the class options in that way - the Blackguard PrC does NOT have any entry requirements that require a fighter-type class, and a Sorcerer-Blackguard would be very dangerous and damaging indeed... No matter. _________________________ All I ask is a chance to PROVE money can't make me happy. JOIN the "A Dance With Rogues" discussion group at Yahoo Groups! Sync182, in the readme, steve said that it was suited for a fighter, and that blackguard is a fighter based class. Thousandhorse , u have a point there, i personally didnt thought that ur flesh brother is enough of a reason to piss on the world but that couldnt take away the thrill of the evil. I mean, if u played Tortured Hearts I, that Paulo Coehlio of mods, is the crappy best seller u get angry and say y in Hell have u bought it and then u swore u'll never buy a best seller again. No mod i've played gave me the "vegeance will be mine" and "We'll get'em all, evetually" feeling. Loved it, with all it's flaws. _________________________ The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
