Description
Introduction: Haunted by a dark past. You are a lone ronin employed by your former Sensei to complete a mysterious task not yet revealed to you. Armed with only a katana and your employment letter, you head to the nearest inn in Kyoto, the capital of Feudal Japan. And just as you were about to enjoy your first warm meal, you felt trouble stirring in the air again...
Module Focus On:
-Choices and general dialogue
-Romance options with npcs (although romance is optional)
-An intriguing original story set in late edo, pre-meiji era of Japan
-Roleplay over combat
Designed For:
-Players who favors roleplay over excessive combat
-Players who likes a central plot
Requires: 'NeverWinter Nights' game with 'Shadow of the Undrentide' and 'Hordes of the Underdark' installed and updated to version 1.65 to play.
A flawed but enjoyable mod, with good story flow and a personal approach to the PC that should keep anyone interested until the end. A few criticisms: -Quite a few grammatical and spelling errors. Nothing that grated on me too badly (but then, I'm used to playing translated games), but the mod could do with a little polishing up. -(Slight spoilers)The final confrontation felt a bit off due to two reasons; the vocal song seemed rather out of place, and the fact that the battle was right out in the open and nobody took any notice was an immersion-breaker. Would suggest moving it to a more secluded area.

Great mod! It did have quite a few grammatical errors but at times they reminded me of how it sounds when my Japanese family members attempt to speak English, and therefore it worked for me on a roleplay level. Very well put together and very engaging. I just finished my third play through and am very much looking forward to Dusk of the Samurai.

Disappointing, particularly when playing the mod with a female pc. The vast amount of grammar, typographical and pronoun errors and the bugs with the romance completely detracted from my ability to enjoy this module.

Great atmosphere and flow of story. Still, there are some bugs that left me reloading quite some time until it worked.

Encountered a few minor bugs and grammar issues but all in all the plot and the characters were great.

Yes, she did an outstanding job on the atmospere. That's in part where custom music and tile sets come in. I'm so tired of the OC music that I often just turn it down. incognitus _________________________ "Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is."

The story is very well written and emotionally moving. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible and it really feels like you're in a fantasy version of Feudal Japan. How I wish Avi had made a sequel (though the mod is complete enough on its own). If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and DL this amazing Samurai adventure.

About all I can say is wow. Avi is decent story teller. It was the story that kept driving me to finish the module. Not that I had not guessed how it would end but rather the way inwhich the story unfolded. The story over rode any minor complaints I had. Enjoyed the romance options and the fact that you kind of had to persue them rather than the other way around. To bad it looks like there won't be a Ronin 2, I sure would have loved to play another module by avi -- did I say she's good story teller. :) incognitus _________________________ "Space is big. I played this mod a number of months ago and thought I'd give it a vote. I liked it quite a bit and would also have liked to see the author make more mods, though that seems a little unlikely now.
