It had started simple enough. Seek the leaders of the Giant alliance that was raiding mankinds lands and destroy them. Well, the Giant alliance is no more but you are no nearer to finding the true leader behind their actions. True you now know the Drow were behind it but who is the true leader? Your quest has seen you pass deep into the Underdark and through the ancient Shrine of the Kuo Toa. Now having at last escaped the Shrine the quest continues....the Vault of the Drow beckons.

Hi Some Guy, Sorry you found Lolth a bit on the tough side, its hard to get a boss fight for all the different permutations of vault players. Many play the mod as a Multi-player mod, as it was originally intended but obviously if someone solo's the mod it can prove a hard finale. However I have had some say it was too easy a fight!. You are ok level wise to play Q1 though it will be hard at the end. There is nothing you need from this mod that will be needed in Q1. BTW I did not touch the debug commands. Thanks for the feedback and I hope you enjoy the final mod! _________________________ Trev

Hey there - you just posted to me on the D1-2 page about Kou Toa and how the original mod went. thanks for that. With this mod (solo) my character is a cleric/torm 14/3 - so 17th level. I just waded through most of the mod gaining little experience as apparently I was too high a level or soemhting to that effect. I was hoping that reaching Lolth would provide more of a challenge - well I was right - nothing I have even touches her - I can't complete the mod. I've even tried teh get on hit in and save - wash and repeat. She is just too tough. So Although I hate doing it - Itried to cheat with the DebugMode 1 thing - nope (is that disabled?). So I'm thinking of scrapping it and jsut saving my character and maybe raising him a level or two (any recommendations) before starting Q1. Is there anythig I needed to get from her before going on? Unfortunately the Vault of the Drow (PnP) hints at a whole world of drow within the vault. I could have made the mod even bigger by including the estates of the noble drow but I thought that considering the media I would stick to the main storyline with but a few 'diversions'. Sorry you found it disappointing. but I appreciate your comments in any event. I did as in the other mods of the series, label it as a Hack n slash mod with little in the way of 'role play' _________________________ Trev

Disappointingly simplifies / omits too much of the original.

Sorry to be so critical, Trev. This mod maintains the same tone as your other G & D mods, which is to be expected. I guess my group is getting worn out of hack-n-slash. After Q1 we'll probably retire these PCs, go back to RP & Puzzle mods. I also have to agree with others here, getting so many "you learn nothing from this kill" messages doesn't help our mood. Even just 1xp each would be better.

Original D3 had the most complex storyline of the entire GDQ. This version of D3 does not keep up. It follows a linear hack path, oversimplifies too many events and omits too many other sections. No houses of Despana, Eilservs, etc. No evil idols & puzzles. No tentacle rods & viscid blobs. Belgos & Silussa were not done justice, et al. Just my opinion. YMMV.

Hi Frankie, Good luck in the mod. As in the other mods I look forward to your views and any problems you find (hopefully not too many!) I will await your posting before I take another look at the dormant Shadow fiends. Thanks as always. _________________________ Trev

My group started D3 tonight. The encounters are so variable. The shadow fiends just stand there doing nothing until you start smacking them. The trogs and bugbears weren't worth fighting. But the female warriors guild is seriously badass, we had to run away. I think that's accurate to the original though.
