I've never played a D20 modern game before, and I've always wanted to know what NWN would be like with guns. Now I know, and I am more than satisfied.

Short but Sweet, I'm usualy not great fun of H&S but visiting places from Fallouts and Wastland and butchering zombies with AK-47 was sure worth spending a few hours playing this modules. It woud be great to have opurtinity to use all those cool social and rouge skills though and I'm suprised that this modules were rated as adult... Oryginal Fallouts were far more explicit and got only mature. Still I recomend those two.

I really like the atmosphere in this module...very reminiscent of the Fallout games. I'd love to see the creator write a more ambitious project in this world, taking advantage of the unique skills and character classes with more role-playing opportunities. Regardless, it was a fun hack and slash and easily replayable. Nice work.
Does this work with the new version of the d20 mod?

Though short, it was very good module. These modules are some of the best that I've played where you get to use guns. I loved the use of Firefly material, especially the theme song.
Frosty, I think those should be in the "Firefly Hak 1" (The name of the archive is "FireflyBundle.zip". Maybe the files were extracted to a folder within the hak folder. Check if that's the case, and if yes, move them to the actual hak folder.

Hmm. My log file says it's missing the mdrn_cloth_base.hak and the compxlabs.hak. Any idea where those might be?
Sounds interesting, but I can't download d20 Moder Placables hak. Does anyone know where to find it? Perhaps autor could upload it on the site.

Though a very short and simple adventure, I recommend this module simply on the basis of its setting and use of modern-type weapon. As a huge fan of the old Fallout series, I was happy to see a post-apocalyptic entry into NWN.

A lot of fun and very original. Off to try the sequel!!

Unfortunately the haks are part of two sets made by two different groups, the D20 Modern and Forestwolf's FireFly. Neither hak set was created by the author of the module. Only part of the D20 system is used to reduce what a player needs to download.
Is there some way that all of the required files could just be uploaded into one single folder for download? I think this would make alot of people less confused and also take less time and stress.

You did fine :)
On some installs the TLK file for some reason didn't create with the patch that implemented it. Most of us have been using CEP, PrC etc for so long we forget that it sometimes isn't there...
Have fun!

All righty, I threw caution to the wind and CREATED a tlk folder for the main directory then put the fireflytlk in there and..... it worked YEAH! Ya I know, you are thinking what an idiot. Seriously there was no folder, any way I am going to play it now, thanks anyway.
Posted by Brambletoes ( 67.136.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-09-13 20:26:10
Actually I don't have a tlk directory. The original dialogtlk. was in the main directory. I then removed it and put the firefly one where it was, but then there were no words on the main menu for the game ( such as start new game, load game etc). by having both of them in the same main directory where NWN originally has theirs, I get the error message. Maybe on the Windows version there is a specific .tlk directory but the Mac version just puts it in the main. Also I have NWN version 1.65 if that matters.

You need to find the FireFly .TLK file and put it in your TLK directory.
You probably put it in your HAK directory by mistake :)
TLK files go in the TLK directory, HAK files in the HAK directory. Hope that helps!

Well, I downloaded all the required haks and put them where they are suppose to be,( I hope) and it still will not start up. I keep getting a message stating " could not find required custom talk table". Not sure what else to do.

The firearms use an OnHit to give the weapon sounds/effects. Unlike the full D20 modern haks it was a lot easier for Forrestwolf to implement and gives builders more freedom on modifying it for more weapons/etc. His later FireFly system uses OnAttacked for the NPCs, giving more reliable results..
Hi Von_Django! I haven't worked on Spotted Plains in AGES, it WAS going to be a western-based PW. My daughter is taking all my time so I've just been working on small modifications on my existing PW to keep my fingers limber {smiles}
The guns dont make any sound when they fire, is this normal? If not how do i fix this problem?
Thank you in advance

Superb use of the modern mod resources, good story and setting (both looks and sound), and a very fun module with good replay potential

Very nice mod. Its not sooo simple, certainly more than a demo of what is possible in NightFire system for NWN. Plot is simple, but its not a straight ahead 'shooter'. Some nice dialog and very good quality control. Good work.
This is my favorite NWN module of all time and it's not just because it's using F20. I find it uses very little of F20 but what I do like about it is the length and replayability. One of my all time favorite games is the first Way of the Samurai on PS2 because it's short, replayable and very open. This module is the same. Short, replayable and open with many different things to try each time you go through it. Also makes for a great DMed one shot

Glad you enjoyed the mods Zhentil - but unfortunatly the third will be set in one large city, so a rideable horse pak (while a cool idea) is probably out of the question.
Acro - Is 'Spotted plains' your PW, or a different future project?

The horse pack would be a nice addition but I don't think its been tested with FireFly yet. I know I haven't had the time to even try it yet....
Contact Von_Django and see what he thinks :)Coming some day (in the distant future):
"Spotted Plains" an Old West themed module running the FireFly hak and rule system.

This is the first solo Modern mod I know of, which is an incredible first step (you can fire automatic weapons and throw grenades! Where else can you do that in NWN yet?). On top of that, I find the genre you've created very original - I'd say more like Stephen King's Dark Tower than Mad Max.
The action is fast and furious - as a solo combat module, it's great!

For the record, D20 MM is back up, but at a new address: Link There are people developing PW's, but nothing finished yet. Shadowrun, Land of the Dead, and another one that's Western in feel are the closest to completion.
