Description
Dark forces threaten the desert city of Yylarium. Lost shards of the Midnight Orb, shattered centuries ago, are sought by many agents with different agendas. Will Set's minions gain the dark artifacts? Or will a different power threaten the political balance? In this sequel to Midwinter Festival and Midsummer Knights' Dream, the PC learns the truth behind the struggles in Kerendas and Yylarium. Will a new future be forged by the master of a black magic, or will the forces of light see clear to a new dawn?
Dwong1207, I am really glad you enjoyed the trilogy! Thank you for the comments; it was a pleasure sharing these with you. Take care, -Marc

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed the series. This was a nice wrap up to everything, unless you're thinking of a part 4 ;). I liked the custom stuff you put in there and didn't expect it to end the way it did, but I thought the ending was a nice touch. Great story overall! One of the best series I've played!

JR, Riona, saxgal, Elhanan, and jfoxtail, Thank you so much guys and girls for your inspirational praise. Checking in after a long absence, it is wonderful to find you folks enjoying these works. I am doing little new work with NWN at present, but our hobby lives on and takes new forms. All the best to everyone, and thanks again! -Marc

I just played the trilogy through for the second time and appreciated it all the more. I was especially struck by the quality of the dialogue and character interactions, and the level of detail involved in making the mods true sequels (not just sequels in name only like many other mods on the Vault). I will miss Sir Rubin popping up in my games.... I also appreciated the level of coherent and interesting political/religious theory that was going on in the plotlines. And I was again impressed by how many custom scripts there were and how smoothly they worked. Like any trilogy, some installments are stronger than others, etc., but this is arguably the most satisfying series on the Vault. Thanks again!

Sorry for above, voted for MKD here on accident. Shouldn't vote on multiple modules at a time. MC is perhaps the best of the three modules. Water is now important to play, though hitting the right spot with a shovel is hard to do. None of the conversation errors I got in the previous module. Well-crafted and fun. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Though you have to carry a water bag, there is no penalty for not filling up with water like in the sequel. After you find the hidden base you are returned to the map where it is still hidden after exiting. Lots of little things take from the enjoyment. Still good over-all. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

Midnight Calling is much more like the previous module in this series--Midsummer Knights' Dream--than the first module in this series, Midwinter Festival. Like it's predecessor, it is short, very linear, features a desert setting, uses smallish maps, has Kama for a henchman, and the main plot revolves around a hunt for some magic items. Truth be told, many of my comments for Midsummer Knights' Dream apply to this module, too. In fact, while I like shortish modules, I actually kind of felt this game was over too quickly, and there isn't as much buildup as there was in the first two games. You know very little about certain adversaries, and when you kill them it doesn't feel like they were that much of a threat. In fact, the final battle in the game didn't feel all that...special to me, because one NPC was only referenced, and the other pretty much just came out of the blue. In spite of that, though, I think the series ends up being worth more than the sum of its parts. There is a lovely setting, a plethora of interesting characters and ideas, and the gameplay flows pretty smoothly overall and is simply *fun* without being frustrating. I can definitely tell the author spent a lot of time with this setting, and it certainly shows--there is a definite sense of authorial "care" here that I like. I can honestly say this series has left me wanting more (probably one reason this module is a bit disappointing--it's over not long after it starts), and I can be counted as one of those who would love a sequel, even though I won't be holding my breath for it.

By far the best and most engrossing 3 serial mods I've played for NWN!!....used to be a die-hard fan of Dungeon Siege 12, but this series has me hooked!!...played all 3 over 2 days!...disappointed I didn't get to finish the side-quests in pt 3 though.....now going to attempt 'Tales'. More please!!!.....fantastic work! Thanks for giving me a GREAT weekend!!

Another wondermous example of storytelling; has humor, pathos, and fantasy lore all in one. The only reason why I do not like this one as much as MKD(Pt 2) is that I simply wish it was not another scavenger hunt driven mod. But the overall effect, esp when attached to the remaining series is amazing work. Very well done! My fave moment in the game may have been the sphinx duo. This is a scene I would enjoy seeing in a film; had me laughing out loud in my chair. I also appreciated the toll Trolls, and me getting to play the goat to remove them. I also like the way you have several options as to which path the player wishes to move along in this quest. This is s great example of placing non-linear choices within a focused story. Highly recommended!

Marc a couple of comments.. Well I finally finsihed; having been distracted by real life and Wyvern Crown for a brief period. Of course I continued to love it and proclaim myself the number 1 fan boi of this series... A couple of quick notes... I was a little disappointed at first I didnt board an airship nor fight on a cloud; however the pyramids of a long dead society made me soon forget.... A potential design note...I picked up a "magic lamp" in one of the first 2 episodes - I dont recall which. I kept it; I keep everything unusual(I am a packrat) I was able to give this first lamp to a certain "cat" in the defiled temple of Ra without journeying to the farm... this might cause a little confusion abut heading west.... Anyway..to further add to it..please consider finishing Equinox in NWN1 if DLA doesnt take you away.. NWN2 will be a fine game in time..but Airships and so many good things you have done in the NWN1 engine will make it a real achievement.
