An evil has been unleashed upon the land. You have received word requesting assistance in the locating and capturing of the fugitive Drevin-Mur. The future stability of the kingdom is at stake.
This was intended for solo adventurers of 8th level or multi-player groups of two (7th level) to four (5th level). No DM is required. As with most modules, a well-rounded multi group of a fighter class, healer and either a magic-user or thief is desirable but not required, henchmen are available to round out your party for a price. This adventure was designed for characters of good alignment. However, neutrals and even evil alignments can play. It should take between one to four hours to complete.
Quick Pros: Nice start and end module movies, A few nice effects with regard to some major NPC's. Reasonably balanced encounters.
Quick Cons: Uninspiring dialogue, a thin plot at best, not really fleshed out well. Lacklustre areas and NPCs, disappointing encounters and end to module. Map pins not used consistently.
Well I am not going to vote for this (my vote would not be too far away from the rewiewer's score).
This thing did not work for me. I needed this little adventure to fix my bard stuck with a LG alignment. My alignment changed except that it should work the way around (taking the other option should shift a few points "up" while taking the one I took should do nothing). Not caring for ones kingdom could be viewed as Chaotic and one can be selffish w/o being Evil.
I did not like the henchies because you cannot give them equipment. This is a basic design mistake. Also at least one of them is an illegal character.
At least one of the guy was selling magic bags.
There was little encounter before entering town that was easy enough but the first trip South turned out to be over the top (felt like my char could have used 2 more levels). The XP scale is a bit off btw.
Oh and btw, I was amazed by what I was facing after turning the entire town hostile by accident. These guys need to adventurer they can take care of themselves.

Just a last shameless plug before I go.

To all that will ever read this...I have decided that I will not continue this series due to my busy schedule and more specifically, the lack of participation from the community as shown by the 1000 downloads and only 7 votes. Like many others module developers before me I have become disillusioned with NWN and the lack of involvement of its users. Take note that the majority of the people that create modules do so out of shear enjoyment and little else. I did find that NWN was initially a lot of fun and I may someday return however for now I have little enthusiasm to even play. I appreciate all that have download and voted (.7% of you) and hope that more users that download modules in the future will provide feedback to authors so that they can at least have so sense of accomplishment after the hours of developing.

Blatob,
Thank you for voting and commenting. As for the henchman, true they are rather linear and do not level up. The reasoning for this was that I felt that they were more of am assistant than a fully interactive participant. At the time I created this there was no method to access the NPC inventory and I built them so that they should stand a fair chance of surviving if a PC wasn't too foolhardy. Beside, would you want someone messing around with your inventory? I doubt it. This would (I believe) lead to PCs using NPCs as mules which I did not want. Anyway, thank you again for you comments.

As I sad, you need better henchmen. They are already dimwited idiots due to the AI. Just allow pleyer to give them new and better armour. Storyline is strictly linear and at a times boring.

Henchmen need much improvement. Please, just add inventory menagment, so player can give them better equipment. Also, they do not seem to level up with PC.

Thank you mcwkjoyce I appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind while I work on the sequel. The idea I was going for with this module was really an introduction to part two where I plan on exposing players to a much larger story and several plot choices. Thank you again for taking to time to post a comment and vote.

Just finished this and thought I would post a few comments as not that many people have written you despite the fact that you are nearing a 1000 downloads.
POSITIVES:
You have really created a nicely balanced module. The encounters were tough at times and I died because my own stupid mistakes rather than being overmatched. The mood and use of placeables was excellent. The dungeon rooms were logical and the use of the CEP was not gratutious. I will echo some of the pervious comments when I say I loved the feel of the swamp. It could hardly see 5 feet in front of my character! I even tried casting "light" but that didn't work. Could hear the buzzing of the mosquitos and when it started to rain I thought my charcter whispered "Please take me back to town!"
NEGATIVES
I don't really want to use this word but here it goes. It wasn't a role play experience at all. The choices were non-existent. Too many of the "get me this, I will give you that" type quests. Other than store owners and "plot givers" there is no interaction with anybody. Even these have "strictly the facts" conversations. It wasn't so much as a role play experience but living a story.
I have never even attempted to make a module, but I have visited the "vault" to understand the number of hours that it must take to make one. The atmosphere of the settings of this module is one of the best I have seen. It would have been nice if the dialogue and role play opportunities could have been fleshed out a little.
P.S. Minor bugs 1. Journal entry for the henchmen when they die is an "error" message. 2. One treasure chest in the bottom of the dungeon is listed as "medium placeable" or some such scripting language. (These didn't take away from my experience though!)

OK. I have corrected and uploaded the module. That one I would have never figured out. It explains why you saw it and I didn't because I wasn't close enough to them. Thanks again Quarterling!

The pig attacking is probably because CEP has the NW_FLAG_BEHAVIOR_OMNIVORE flag set for the pig. I am using some code that LoCash wrote that correctly has an omnivore get annoyed and attack if you stay around too long. If you want the pigs to avoid people then set NW_FLAG_BEHAVIOR_HERBIVORE otherwise, dont set either of these two flags.

I am not using TonyK's henchman kit and have been unable to duplicate your reported issue. Any information that you could provide would be appreicated.
Sounds good. BTW the thing with the pigs is an issue with TonyK's henchman kit

For those of you that are interested I am still working on the sequel to RDM I. It is taking longer than expected as I have been taking lessons learned and incorporating them into it as well as work and my personal life. I will post updates as needed.

Good afternoon Misty,
The custom talk hak that it is trying to find is apart of the CEP (cep.tlk). Do you have it installed?

Just an update, I am currently working on part two of this series and as I am building this alone it is taking some time. When it is completed I will post here.

The word correction reported has been corrected and uploaded. Thank again Jimathy!

My mistake Jimathy. So much for spellchecker huh. I ment tomes as in books. Its amazing that something little like that can slip by. Sorry for the confusion. I will make the correction. Other than that, did you notice anything else?
Posted by Jimathy ( 69.47.xxx.xxx ) at 2004-12-02 15:28:00
I got quite confused right at the start of this module. The main plot guy says he found some tombs but uses it like the word tomes. tombs = burial spot for dead people, tomes = books and such. Either I am more confused than i thought, or the author used the wrong word.
