This is a PnP module conversion of the same name by original author Dave J. Browne. It is the sequel to U1: The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. The little fishing town of Saltmarsh is threatened! Why are lizard men gathering force nearby and why have they been buying large quantities of weapons? A party of bold adventurers must answer these questions or the people of Saltmarsh will never live in peace!

Can be avoided.
Was fun in MP sessions but a bit tedious solo. Be prepared to fight the same creatures over and over in caves. The cats did look a bit odd.
Sorry about the 83 casualties ;-)
5-6: A good effort that fans of the style will find worth the download.

My party and I had a great time with U2. Not as atmospheric as the first one, but nonetheless, a great job.

Unlike U1, I never played U2 in the original version so I don't know what exactly was design by the converter, and what was in the original module.
I haveyet to play U3, a Hammer wielding Dwarven Fighter in Full Plate would be over his head underwater.
Most Memorable Likes
Saltmarsh was even better developed than in U1 & the changes were fun (though I half-expected a Quest concerning the bank); the lawyers were a hoot (as were, come to think of it, the inn-books in U1); the encounters balanced; treasure placement was a-okay.
Most Memorable Dislikes:
- the Lizardman warrens were rather empty, esp. with all the females being non-hostile. Guess they like having their homes invaded by a bunch of sellswords...
- the warrens were a bit confusing, I couldn't find the minister and other places after leaving the area.
- the most annoying part that didn't work at all for me in single player: the weregild issue etc. I can understand it in a Chapter of a larger NWN Module and the PnP version but it doesn't work (for me at least) in Single Player NWN, especially because you're better off putting the whole lot to the sword, both financially (the Staff alone is worth more than the whole reward...) and what's even worse (Quest XP is supposed to handle that) also XP-wise (by a landslide). I know NWN design quirks have a tendency to favor Evil PC's (because of the few-if-any Re-Spawnable encounters, the combat-xp 'dries up' sooner for Good PC's than Evil with all those Commoners etc. running around) but in this module it was really galling. Having the mayor re-imburse you more and/or give more Quest XP would solve this problem.
- Oceanus feels out of place/a bit too constrained. If you're going to restrict henchmen, at least make them available to the weaker classes or (Small) races, Elves in general don't need more help than Humans.
All in all an excellent module that while it would rate higher with a better ending I can still recommend to all.

No bad. We had a good time.

Good, but somehow not quite as enjoyable as the original. We spoke with the lizard chief after killing 111 of his people (!) and he demanded items which we had already sold for cash. That was a bit strange.

More polished than U1 and a great module.

Well done indeed. I remember when I played this on table-top back in the day. It took us ten minutes, because I went straight for the diplomacy with the first lizardmen I met! It's understandable that we can't do that in your version of it. Overall, very good, and I embark now on the finale!

A very well-done adaptation of the pen-and-paper adventure. Two of us played it together and we had a great time.

Thanks for the feedback Phil. I plan on doing U1 in NWN2, depending on how that goes, the others may follow, or I may kill myself. Rut-row!

***SPOILERS***
Again, SUCH excellent work, although Scoobs and I felt a bit out of place without the spooky factor (see my post for your U1 conversion).
I love how at the very end of this module, I leveled up to level 4... perfect timing.
This is a brilliant conversion of what I gather to be a dungeoncrawl PnP classic. I am giving this 10 because I am sure that it is a picture perfect conversion of the PnP. And, I am pleased to report, no bugs.
I hope people like yourself will turn your skills to NWN2, although from the looks of it only teams of people can prosper in that engine, and given the dearth of material, I have reloaded NWN1 to sample all the Greyhawk thrills of a prospering tradition of AD&D (v1) tabletop thrills.
Hooray! Thank you!

Great mod! It seems I'm alone on this one but I actually enjoyed this mod more than U1! Don't get me wrong, as the first in this series was very good as well, I just found that the second in the series just ran smoother. Sure, it did have a lot of the 'same old' room to room feel that the first mod didn't, but my job ISN'T to rate the original PnP module and its author, but to rate the NWN version of the PnP mod done here. No scripting errors, great item descriptions, some challenging fights. Thanks for a great follow up mod.
**Spoilers**
I loved the alliance bit at the end. The scripting you did here worked very well! I'm glad you added the creatures from the real PnP mod. You make great conversions.
Looking forward to the final part. Thanks for your hard work!

Another good module from oraweb. A good follow-up to the original U1--The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. As good as the first two in this series were, I didn't like the third.

This mod is well done and a good bridge between U1 and U3. I liked the way you implemented the egg hatcheries and your lighting was great as always.
***Spoiler***
I had a hard time locating the Chief, as others have mentioned. I had to go into the toolset before I realized there was a whole area I missed. Some additional map pins would have helped make navigating the caves less confusing.

This was a blast! U1 was better, but this series is the best PnP conversion out there. Great work, oraweb.

Just like your adaptation of The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, this module is nicely done. This module by nature isn't as fun as U1, but you did a great job adapting from the PnP version. Looking forward to U3.

Great job! Not as good as your U1 or U3, but it bridges the gap nicely. _________________________ El Dano Black Thorn -- a Forgotten Realms mystery adventure for levels 23-27. Mountain of Mirrors -- a classic PnP conversion for levels 4-7.

Hi, my brother and I are having a great time with these modules, but we noticed that the emote wands from U1 don't work in U2. I loaded it up in the editor and it looks like you forgot to import the DMFI scripts for the wands? No big deal but we were getting used to the follow PC functions :). Otherwise great stuff, we can't wait to play U3. Is there a v2 or v3 version of the module somewhere?

Did not like this one. No thick plot, just running around caves and you form an alliance with those lizardmen who attacked you and then you have to pay gold for those who attacked you first!
3 side quests,
The Bait Mate
The sick lady and
the farmer add some variety and I actually liked those better than the main quest.
Don't take my low score personally if you didn't write the module; I understand the author wants to be faithful to the original. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Very enjoyable. Secret monster in ***** was a bit much for our fighter-light group but we got him in the end. Very good adaptations.

Fun module, and kept well with the original material, but unfortunately a bit tedious. Took a long time to find the Chief. The minister didn't give us directions. I understand that you were keeping with the spirit of the original module. You've done a great job in that way, but I am giving the lower vote due to the tedium of sneaking around for the Chief, (I had fun being the rogue, but other party members started to get itchy for a fight and so we occassionally killed lizardmen out of boredom) as well as that the last in the series didn't work for us. U3 doesn't seem to work for spellcasting characters. Even those the first two modules stand well on their own, they are diminished since players can't complete the whole story arc. _________________________ Vault Submissions | Arnheim | Beyond Vives

I find U2 less attractive than U1 but it is more due to the story than the work given in it.
The attention put in the details and descriptions is always strong ;) I give "9" for this one.
My group of a Warrior, a Cleric-Thief, a Druid and me as Paladin made his way through the caverns to resolve this quest. There are some really tough fights against the Lizards and the Dragon. But on the whole we manage to survive and have a great fun :)

Less attractive than U1 :( But story respected and much work on details :)

Great fun! Good hack and slash in the caves, excellent details in the custom items, and the best part is the way Saltmarsh is beginning to come alive. IMO, this was just as good a mod as your U1. Below, in a very long post, someone describes killing the minister before ever meeting the Chief. I actually met the Chief very early because you provided that handy back door (which I actually found before the front door). But I can see his point. The minister should mention that the PC needs to talk to the chief first. I'm running a monk through your U1-U3 mods and she's up to almost level 6. Tough going early in U1, but she's hit her stride. Can't wait to start U3.
I'm actually considering grabbing these PnP mods at the B&N site's used book page and calling up my brother for our first session in 15 years!
