You awake in a desert oasis, with no memory of recent events and a strange amulet attached to your neck. Somehow, you must figure out a way to return to your home, and hopefully along the way piece together what has happened to you....

Sleepwalker 1: Desert Greed is a plot-driven single-player adventure for a first level character, and will get you to level 6-7. Be prepared to enjoy poker games, fishing, undead henchmen, logic puzzles, plenty of alignment options, and item creation.

See readme for version changes. Playing Sleepwalker 2 requires you to use a fighter, paladin, cleric, ranger, or druid as your first level.

Wow! People are still playing this. I can't even find my NWN discs anymore. Certainly don't remember how to work the toolset anymore. Ah, the good old days before I was a dad.

Nice to play.

Fights were sometimes too difficult, poker would have been nice if it hadn't been obligatory. Definitely too many skeletons and other critters.

Worth a try.

Although I did play this mod over two years ago, I tend to agree with the reviewer therefore my score is...

Pretty sweet module :). Interesting story, funny characters, roleplaying options for a more evil approach. I didn't run into any bugs. Everything ran smoothly. I only got frustrated once, when I was trying to find where I should go to create the bomb, I didn't have any hint and I was just wandering for a while. The transition to the Chemist Cave it was easy to be missed but I ultimately found it. I didn't like the poker game so much. It took a lot of my time, it was more a matter of luck. Also, when I found the fisherman and took his body, the high-priest didn't talk to me at all and the goblins there, didn't appear to be hostile. It was just a bit odd. As for the balance of the battles, I found it just about right. My char was a druid and the battles were challenging enough but not hard. It was nice giving a henchman at one point. Also, I really liked combining items. Overall, a fun module. It's nice that there is a part 2. It would have been even nicer if there was a part 3 :p. Well done!

OK got it. Enter the second tomb from the left. Chemist Cave discovered.

Posted by Calli at 2007-05-28 09:21:36
Im hopelessly stuck. Just started your module and I cant locate the Chemist Cave. Read your response Go into the village tomb, go into the second door to the left (from the perspective of when you enter the tomb) which brings you to a new area, fight a few bad guys, then look for an area transition in the back-left of this area. I killed off all the bad guys (with a lot on running outside to sleep and regain health) and now, standing at the entrance the map shows four doors, all to tombs. Ive tried the area around the second tomb door from the right and then in exasperation all the doors and the areas around them. Nothing, so (my character is a rogue) I turned on search and slowly walked along every wall and space in the entire tomb area. NADA. Im on a Mac laptop, but Ive never had this problem with any other game and I am using your latest version of sleepwalker. Any way you can help me out of this predicament as I would like to continue what so far has been an enjoyable adventure.

Its a interesting game. The dialog is very good. I didn't get very far before giving up though.

Oops, forgot to rate this last year. It's a good mod, enjoyable story, nice humor. Its main drawback is that it is part one of YET ANOTHER TRILOGY WITH NO CONCLUSION. Phalanges walked away in 2005.

Posted by frankie at 2006-10-15 19:03:07    Voted 9.00 on 01/22/07
Anyone have a contact address for Phalanges? His hint file calls you "slacker" if you look up the chemistry puzzle, but in fact he's the slacker. His criteria are insufficient; there are THREE distinct solutions.

Omitting all constant features, the variations are: (powder 8, chop 3, roll 7) , (chop 8, powder 3, roll 7) , (chop 8, powder 7, roll 3).

I don't know how you came up with the idea that this is suitable for a first level character. In the first place you need to go to - the tombs - you're besieged by undead that can slaughter a first-level character with one hit!! Is there a reason for throwing a Curst Warrior that can deal 20 points of damage with one blow at a weakling charachter? I can't think of one.

I'm going to try this again with a level 2 character that may stand at least a chance of surviving his first encounter.

No worries! Still a very good mod!

Back with this one.

To the previous poster:

* spoilers *

You need a very special hammer a specific script will fire up if you have it.

To the Author:

I am re-playing the latest version and IMHO there is still a problem with the special recipe we need to use in the cave.

True they are four solutions to the puzzle. It is easy to narrow them down to two using common sense (that powder you have you want it rolled? chopped? or what?).

You still have to take a guess for the remaining two options (7 crystals + 8 ashes or 8 crystals + 7 ashes). Unless there is another book with clues I am quite sure that we have no data to pick the right one (w/o cheating). It would be OK (to reload) if it was posible to tell right away if you made the right thing or not but it is not the case. In fact, (it might be a typo) I am quite sure I tried it both ways and I still failed to make it work (you know where).

Excellent module otherwise although a bit tough early on for non prime melee classes.

I thought it was a simple weapon so everyone could use it. Crap. If it absolutely doesn't work then I guess you are right in starting over.

Posted by mcwkjoyce at 2006-05-24 03:18:41
Playing this with a rogue, and enjoying it so far.(It was hard for the first level, but I like it that way.) I have run into a little bit of a problem in the "Chemist's Cave" In fact I had to check the "Hints and Tips" Which I hate to do

SPOILER

To make the flash crystal, I need to hold the "rock" hammer (I assume it is the light hammer I found.) Unfortunately, my character is not proficient with that particular weapon type. Is there anyway around this? Have I got the right hammer? Should I abandon and start with a different class of character?
Cheers,
M

It is supposed to be hard. I always felt that the official campaigns could be completed by a 5 year old because they were so easy. I've played with every character and it is possible, although certainly some are easier than others.

Posted by Mirgalen at 2006-03-31 19:27:20    Voted 7.00 on 11/30/08
Perhaps I am wrong but It seems like a level one rogue or monk cannot complete this module. I just checked the Hints as I was trying to see if there is a way to reach level 2 w/o doing the crypt stuff but the "he sends you to the tombs" written in the Hints file seems to contradict that.

I completed this mod a while a go with a druid/shifter it was not easy either.

I've played many modules since NWN's beginning, and this is the first one that, upon completion, I couldn't wait to play again with a different character. Everything just worked great: good plot, nice locales, interesting people, great humor, balanced combat, etc. Very fun mod.

Posted by Phalanges at 2005-06-01 06:30:05    Voted 10.00
Ah yes... the unexplainable bugs. This is the reason I gave up mod building a year ago...

Posted by TwoStepsBehind ( 64.250.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-05-30 04:23:43
Ok, I went back and ran a different pc through and the item showed up and I finished the module... interesting... verry interesting...

Posted by TwoStepsBehind ( 64.250.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-05-27 23:34:06
Double hmm! On re-reading, I see some spots I could have been vaguer but still clear... sorry

Posted by TwoStepsBehind ( 64.250.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-05-27 22:26:23
Hmm... With judicious use of reloads, the hints file, and these boards, I have just about finished. But...
---Spoils---

...I'm holding onto the mug of milk because I haven't quite cleared the '2nd time in tombs' (or whatever) quest. I was suitably duped into delivering the ring, went back and called her on it, was swarmed by her family---oddly enough my undead henchman didn't seem to take damage and once I got over to her and was whiffing away (bad rolls), it seemed her family wasn't too fond of her either because they stopped attacking me and attacked her.--- Anyway, she went down finally and I finally went and smashed all the sarcophogi around the walls. I never found a ring to try to right things. It wasn't in her remains. If it is in the remaining sarcophogus in the middle of the room, nothing I have (even a +2 weapon with powerstrike) will touch it.

So the quest sits unfinished in my log. Obviously I either missed something or I blew something. Is there anything I can do further on that?

Phalanges:

Not sure why the main gate was still plot locked - maybe a script hickup due to win xp sp 2... - after a savegame reload all worked like a charm :)

lebowski- Yes its me. With this change of the vault I need to have one account to update materials, so I decided to go back to this handle.

SPOILERS

ericdoman: Palm sap is in oasis, in McGil's barrel, looks like a bottle. Ghoul grease is in lanner family tomb, in a coffin.

Chairon: Simir tells you when you talk to him initially that the main door has to be bashed or picked. No key here!

Posted by ChaironDeCeleste at 2005-05-08 07:36:44
*** Spoiler ***

A key to a family crypt isn't of any use
when you lack the main door tomb key... *sigh* ;-)
