This is the Nightfire: Firefly NWN System. It is for DM-run games only! I've simplified installation: 1. Unzip the three numbered haks (1, 2, and 3) into your hak directory. 2. Get BOTH files from the Firefly Update Hak page; uncompress ff_update.hak (updated 10/2/06) and spaceset2.hak into your nwn\hak directory, and firefly.tlk into your nwn\tlk directory (make one if you don't have one). 3. Get the movie put it in your nwn\movies directory. 4. Get the 3 music paks on the site; unzip into the nwn\music directory (optional). The module uses a lot of custom content from the D20 Modern team. The readme's for all content are included with the Hak Paks. This is the complete system; for a single-shot introductory module, go to: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=4031

I played this campaign years ago, and never voted for it. The Nightfire campaign system is the most inspired modification of the game ever, and led to my most memorable campaign ever. Fantastic stuff. _________________________ X-INV X-COM War of the Worlds Lantan University

Amazing content. Many years after I first opened this module, I'm still playing with it. When I host a Firefly campaign with my community, it immediately fills up quickly, which is a great statement on the work that is Firefly the TV series, and the work ForrestWolf has put together for us. Thank you.

Wouldn't have known about this series if it wasn't for this module and haks. :) I watched every single episode within a couple days... now I gotta find the movie XD Great work on this!

A great collection but where is the module? Would have loved to play a Firefly module.

High five, dude. I haven't used it yet but you've obviously worked damn hard on this. _________________________ I'm a NWN1 Builder and a NWN2 DM for Jewel of Calimshan PW, who are just out of beta. Link

There's a fair bit of stuff from here not included in D20MM. One big thing would be the classes, skills, and feats. Another would be various Firefly-specific placeables (with textures appropriate to the show). And, of course, the areas - there are a LOT of pre-made areas in the base module - enough to run a multi-year campaign. So yes, you could do Firefly with D20MM - and the classes/skills/feats in D20MM would be a refreshing change from the more limited choices in Nightfire - but you'd have a LOT of work to do making an all-new setting.
As for a single-player mod, people have worked on it - I sure hope someone gets one built someday - I'd love to play it!
Ching-wao tsao duh liou mahng! Wish this was available as a single player mod... _________________________ Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't coming back;

"Allyndn - Thanks very much for the compliments. I've made one little 'Mal' scene in NWN2, with a Blue Sun sign and gun that I've converted. That said, I'm finding a) NWN2's Toolset VERY hard, and b) Custom Content support very scarce in the beginning. So it should happen someday, assuming the community gets the modelling tools really moving well, but it could be a while."
I'm finding the NWN2 toolkit more intuitive than the NWN1, but I seem to be unique in that. I think the custom content will the be most serious issue. Well, and the fact the DM client currently *barely* works, making it impossible (currently) to use this package as you've been using it. Your scripting using the Traveler rules *should* mostly cross over... though if they didn't, the bugs would be hard to find, I think. Let me know if there's any way I can help.
Alorain - I have seen some instability when using the very complex models (high polygon count) - the Firefly vessel is the worst, and the other spaceships are rough, too. This happens usually when several models are on the same screen. Are you using a low-end video card? What are its specs? That would be the most likely culprit, but I don't know for sure. One test would be to open the system in the Toolset, and try to remove some of the ships from areas - maybe do a NEW Space area of your own, with no ships, and just check if that's the problem - if it loads, try plopping down a Firefly ship and see if it dies THEN. Make sense?
I'd be very surprised if the tilesets themselves cause the problem - if it's just the complex ships, you could stick to the shuttles and the fighters - they're VERY low poly.
Tor - I've seen the fixed 2nd movie, and it's GREAT. Thanks so much for showing off the Firefly material - the music in the intro part is really fun.

I am amazed at the tremendous amount of work you've put into creating this package. Also wanted to let you know that it was this mod which got me interested in Firefly. I saw the movie so as to understand this mod/hak package. Am now a huge fan and have bought the whole DVD set. I'm making the transition to NWN2 and am wondering if you have plans to port this content over to the new game. Or if that's worth the amount of work involved.

i love this system, it is alot of fun from the original NWN modules, the only problem is i cannot seem to load parts of this system. In every module useing this system (night fire, canton, deadlands) i also crash to desktop when loading an area with the space tileset i think. Such as the firefly ship, shuttles and such. Any ideas why i can load the module but always crash on these kinds of areas? is there something that i need to do? such as only play this module with Nwn installed and not the xps? any feedback would be really helpful.
Will give it a go when I have a chance to download again. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
Updated 10/2/06: I've removed the 'mature' content by changing the Firefly Update Hak. Those models are now inaccessible. Just be sure to get the new Firefly Update Hak so that will happen - no changes to the module. Also note that there are TWO downloads on the Firefly Update Hak page - get both.
Okay, please e-mail me when this becomes teen rated (You know, you can upload a separate module and upload and keep this current mature rated one for those that like it.) _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
I've taken your request to heart - I'm going to update the system to remove any inappropriate models (Lisa's original clothing, by the way), and I'm also going to look into adding CEP 2.0 horses and flying while I'm at it...
Is it possible to please be e-mailed a workaround that removes the mature content? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
Be sure to take the firefly.tlk file and put it in the nwn\tlk folder. You may need to MAKE a tlk folder if you've never installed a custom .tlk file before. You'll find firefly.tlk in the Firefly Update hak.
...I get a "Missing Custom Talk Tables" error when I try running it. :|

Well, I have no doubt of just how awesome this mod is... But I have absolutely no skill in DMing yet... and I can't find a "DMing NWN for Supreme Idiots" anywhere, lol. _________________________ "Nobody got nowhere on a calm sea."
Unfortunately, no one has a PW running with it that I know of yet. There have been a few different PW projects that have looked into using it, but no one's finished one yet.
That said, you might try rounding up some players and DM'ing a session! The Hero of Canton version is DMFI-certified - ready to run right out of the box for a DM.
Yep, people are still running campaigns with this - but they generally fill up quickly, I'm happy to say :)

Wonderful, damnit for being GM-required. Anyone still play this game? I've been looking for servers for it, and of course I can't find any... So sad. _________________________ "Nobody got nowhere on a calm sea."
