Description
{NOTE:This update contains a variety of corrections, bugs etc from people who have recently played the module. Needs v1.28(or higher) to play.} Brightwood is a town in the Forgotten Realms located somewhere north of Nesme on the River Surbrin. The early part of the adventure is in the roleplaying mould set in the town itself and this gives way to a more combat oriented experience later in the module. Players will find themselves visiting the Lurkwood, Settlestone and the Evermoors. The finale is set in a multi level temple. Much work has been put into making the module as atmospheric as possible.

Not worth it.
On one hand I agree with THG: "This module was both very enjoyable and also very frustrating. Enjoyable because it contains good game play, a serviceable plot, and some original (and fun) sidequests..."
However I found it a lot more boring and frustrating then most players. Among other things:
- broken plot here and there (missing NPC, dialogue option and/or end of quest)
- working hours are fine but there is no way to work around it (e.g. rest until dawn...)
- poor (respawning) encounters in general and lame treasure
- henchmen mostly useless given the encounter difficulty
- no proper ending (no XP or treasure after defeating the boss), the end seems rushed
3-4: "It's clear that the author tried to make something interesting but failed."

sia questo ma soprattutto Cormyrean Nights, sono due moduli bellissimi, pieni di quest e di avventure. Un grande classico.
"Play It Again, Sam": realizza un altro modulo Servilian!

Well, I just finished playing "Brightwood" and I have mixed feelings about it. I know it's an old mod and hasn't been updated in many years, but it was still fun!
I had to take a few points off for 4 Quests I was unable to finish: Strange Door, The Mugger, The Prisoner, and Ashby's Quest. None of these worked for me. I also had problems going back to the Adventurers Supply store (forgot the name) - he would say hello and goodbye but never show his wares. These were annoying little things but still let me finish the game nonetheless.
I also had to take points off for my 'pet peeve' ... no option to Save Character before the abrupt ending.
All in all I still had fun, and special thanks for having the Walkthrough available on the website! I had to use it quite a bit more than I'd like to admit. :)
So even though it took me over a week of on&off playing, I still enjoyed (most) every minute of it! :)

The story was there, but the scripting needs to be updated for the latest 1.69 patch. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
lulz:) nothing was updated! The vault just tell you the mod itself has been promoted to Hall of Fame!!! _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

Hi Servilan!
I'm tempted to play your mod, but even though it's listed as being updated yesterday (01-02-10) there's only one exe file dated 02-16-03! (I even DL it and tried, but nothing happened.)
Hiya Servilan,
I know in another post I said I was going to play this one.
But we are Military and my hubby got orders to move and.. so we did.
Well I lost everything since the movers damaged my PC.
Anyways.. I just got a New Dell XPS and have been playing many Mods.
Today I was skimming through NWN Vault and saw your Mod and was like YEAH! as I never did play it.
Before I D/L it though, can you let me know if there is going to be an update? If so I will wait until then to D/L it.
Have a Great Day...

The story and the plot are first rate. The only lack (which is personal bias on my part) is that, being a romantic, I like there to be some romance (or a hint of it), or at least some flirting. out of 1 point for personal grab factor, I took off a half point. There are several problems. I understand a rewrite is in progress, so maybe these problems will be corrected. There are numerous spelling and punctuation mistakes. In several cases, a*bleep*nym is used instead of the correct word. None of these errors were so egregious that I could not figure out the intended meaning, so I only substracted 0.5 points. Reading the walk through carefully, I found several instances where the game did not follow the walk through. The adventurer supply store would verbally agree to show me their inventory, but fail to actually do it. No verbal password was required to enter the drug lab areas. No mention of "the Master" was made in the journal, and I was not given a chance to tell the herbalist what I had accomplished (as specified in the walk through), and no points for killing him were awarded. I was also unable to summon the druid at the standing stones no matter how I played the game. These were not plot busters for me (another half point). What WAS a plot buster was my character came with lockpicking/trap disarming skills and lockpicks. In my first attempt to play the module (before I looked at the walk through) in numerous instances I was able to breech locked doors that allegedly required specific keys or passwords. This resulted in the plot breaking down in numerous instances (which is why I had to read the walk through). The plot needs to be rewritten taking into account the fact that some characters may be thieves or have some rogue skills. I took off a full point for this problem. Except for the previous error noted, the plot did work if I did not try to pick any locks.
I don't think this score reflects the fact that I think this writer can produce an outstanding module. I plan to play his other module next. Hde states on his website that he wrote this "on the fly" so to speak. Most people cannot write a module this good no matter how long they take. I look forward to seeing "Brightwood Rewritten!"

An excellent mod, even though there were a few bugs. I got caught by the "dragon wont talk after all the enemies are dead" bug. Bummer, but still a well done and very enjoyable mod.
Solid, entertaining, robust. What more can you ask for in a mod?

A great mod. The best I´ve played for now. It deserves the highest note. Good plot, city, missions and well balanced.

I say, this is the one of the worst mods I have played. It is pathetically unchallenging, until you meet the goblin chirftain, who is uberpowerrful. Don'y play this mod, it is waste of time, unless you are imune to paralyze, then it is no challenge.

Some quest bugs, but very good story, very good atmosphere, playing was fun - well I could repair one fatal showstopper using the console, but in part its my fault since I use the new battle AI (as an override), this makes enemies roaming, and they seem to have killed the farmer who points you to the druid.
But over all very good!

I am trying to go to Evermoor, however the Captain won't let me on board until I finish Jeneths's quest - she hasn't given me one?
Have I missed something or is this the end of the road?

Nice Mod. Good atmosphere and that sort of thing. I did hit a snag that prevented me from finishing. Oh well. I'll anxiously await any future works. I simply loved Cormyrian Nights.

Help ! I am stuck for the second time! I cannot finish the Undead Attack quest. I keep walking around in the sewers for hours and still i don't get the message that all the undead are gone... this is so frustrating ! I want to finish this module because it is really nice.

This is one of the best modules I have ever played, (and I have played a hella lot). The story is magnificent the way everything ties in together is supperb. the only thing that kept me from giving you a 10 was the mugger quest, IMHO she should have attacked me the 2nd time i talked with her instead of me having to switch to hard core rules to attack her. Other than that i t was one solid module i had to give it a 9.5, thanks for all the hard work and keep it up. I'm going to try Cormyrean nights next and i look forward to another solid module, thanks again.

Good module, except that it is way too easy to break the main plot line... and I learned it the hard way. Now I can't go anywhere because' like everyone else, the captian won't acklodge the fact that I have already cleared bothe caves.
It feels very dreadful to progress so far then realize that the module is actully broken. A good example of how little things can ruin the whole picture. What good is a nicely-made module if its plot line can be broken effortlessly?
The part I like the most is the city. Awesome atmosphere, and feels busy. The items are well balanced, no uber weapons to unbalance the game. The quests are interesting, not many fed-ex quests, and most have many twists. Too bad the most importent one is just very ill-designed.
If you are an explorer type, you probably don't want to play this module. You will probably ends up breaking the quests in no time.

This module was both very enjoyable and also very frustrating. Enjoyable because it contains good game play, a serviceable plot, and some original (and fun) sidequests. Frustrating because it's pretty glitchy, and it's easy to screw things up if you do anything out of order. Obviously, Servilan walked out of Brightwood with some lessons under his belt, as Cormyrean Nights is both massive and (as far as I can tell) glitch free.
