See my comment and vote at the first part. Slightly better than the 1st and second part. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

-.75: Graymalkin still doesn't fight
can't access inventory
Can't remove from party
-.25: For not being clear in chapter 2 that you couldn't access the lower tomb level.
This campaign would be a perfect ten if all chapters were combined into one giant module, but as it stands, it's just repeat area after repeat. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

The funnest of the three modules, it is still a little confusing as to what to do. Did we even solve the problem of the darkness? I'm not sure. _________________________ The road to Ravenloft is paved with good intentions.

The Chronicles is good, one gripe... it was still dark when the mod ended.

My comments are for the trilogy collectively. It is difficult to write a campaign for a higher level character. By varying the style, tempo, and content of each, I believe the author has created a superior campaign. Other than a few idiosyncrasies caused by malfunctioning scripts, I can find no fault with this campaign over than a few, purely personal wishes as to content. And I suspect most of those will be addressed in Chapter 4 wherein, I assume, a new house will be established in the Baron's old homeland and perhaps even a touch of romance will be found (no romantic interest was the main personal lack I found for myself). I sincerely hope we will not have to wait much longer for it to be released.

Excellent story. No documentation. Merchant(s) may crash computer. I liked the use of voice set and the unique henchmen. This one was a bit tedious.

I think I finished episode III. Yet I have got a strange bug bugging me so to speak: My journal is telling me to go tell the bad news but when I speak to F. I don't get the proper dialogue option.
Other than that I have to come back and vote for this excellent serie.

Enjoyed the mod. Been enjoying the series. H&S with some interesting tactical challenges. Top 10 percentile for henchman characters. The spooky atmosphere worked. The first time I fought one of those Soul Stealers, I threw everything at it, realized I wasn't doing damage, so I cast invisibility and haste on myself and ran. The thing followed me all the way back to the stronghold and took out half of the guards and all of my henchmen. Very horror. Looking forward to part III.

On the downside: The spawns are TOO massive, even for a hack & slash, (especially since with much much smaller spawns, I'd call this a linear RP mod, not a H & S at all,) but somewhat smaller would be better. The Craglings are annoyingly fairweather-friends, and yield yet another way-too-massive spawn, the level info is grosly underestimated, (should be ranked quite a few levels higher,) and the hench-critters of the big-baddy are, even after his death, pretty much unkillable. I couldn't survive at 27th level. That's saying something. This mod still needs some adjusting, and there are still some henchman & plot bugs. (The broken eggs must be in your inventory, or that plot won't resolve itself, for example.) I have high hopes for this, as well as the other two Blacksteel mods, if it's updated & improved some.

No, BloodmoonX- you are NOT alone! I jumped ahead to a 10th level char. to play volume 1 and still had a hard time, to level 17 for volume 2, and to a whopping 27th for volume 3, and as yet have not survived. Those soul harvester thingees are, near as I can tell, unkillable. Something hurt them, but I never figured out what. Spent an hour getting whomped on by the Baron and respawning, then finally figured out the trick to killing him. (Won't spoil that here though. You probably have it in your inventory, and it's TOTALLY not what you'd expect.) I'd hoped that killing him would distroy the reapers, (which it probably SHOULD,) but it doesn't.
I've loved the plot and progress of these mods, but the constant incredibly massive critter spawns are insane, and do NOT contribute to the play of the mods at all, as far as I'm concerned. The only things they accomplish, IMHO, is A: Annoying the crap out of the player, and B: bogging down my computer so that play becomes jerky. If the storyline had been less compelling, and/or I'd liked the henchemen just a little less, I'd have given up on this one with Volume 1.
By the way- I too have found that Greymalkin is broken in V.3, staying near entries, not fighting even to defend himself, then vanishing when he dies. A small bug, but important enough to mention.

Again, solid and for once I enjoyed fighting, however the ambience could use a little more work. More tension, perhaps.

Awesome mods, the three of them. Found a gay bug though...
Kind of Spoiler w/Bug
Keeper Vendrush attacked me and I can't get the underworld essence because "the item can't be given to the player."
Combat was unintentionally initiate because a skeleton chased me into the keep. And I saved after the fact.
Ok, Soul Harvesters attacking BEFORE I get a weapon to do ANY damage at all, while they suck levels from me, as well as having NO PLACE TO REST EXCEPT inside the fortress, is a BIG NO-NO!
I know where and how (roughly) to get said weapon, but I had to retreat before I got it because I was level-drained. This is not a good thing.
Problems: With a Ranger/Rogue (12/7) and a small set of weapon/armour combos, having lost all companions but the skull and Sampson (very likely to die at any point), no where to rest, and attacked from any point by level-draining, untouchable undead, there's no way I can complete part 3 of this series.
Another problem was with the elf ranger henchman: In part 3 he never followed any orders and never left the point of entry of any new area. He was useless, and then he died and I never found his remains, not that it mattered.
Am I alone with these issues???
Anyone???

No serious downsides. Relatively well polished. Author can spell and uses pretty good grammar.
One note -- Safana keeps damaging allies, after which they turn around and kill her. Very irritating. Might as well take her along for the journey but dump her once you arrive. Most other henchmen have items of regeneration.

Captivating, and properly encapsulated. I feel this set is one of the better stories to be had. Soul harvesters are pretty mean though. I mean, if they're so tough why's the baron such a two jabs to KO kinda guy? ;3
Anyway, you're right on with the ambience; Less combat, more suspense, good writing.

Bit better than previous two parts. Same problems, however. Also, at this moment I have something like 700000 gold pieces and nothing to spend tit on.

Lebowski- using Author search (BadMojo) used to work, but with the latest changes, I find myself just typing Chaos in the Title section and scrolling down until I find Chaos War Saga.
Keep in mind though, it was my first mod so it's pretty rough around the edges. If I weren't so busy working on Chp 2, I'd go back and clean it up a little more.

After all the combat in Vol 2, I wanted to shift gears and make a creepy little horror story. It was waaaay too short in my opinion, but it was the story I wanted to tell. It wound up being more of an interlude with a couple of boss fights, but oh well. The series was meant to be a collection of short mods anyway, as opposed to the epic Chaos War Saga im trying to finish.
The problem with creating suspense in a fantasy setting is that the hero is far from defenseless. How can you fear the Boogeyman when you're wearing Holy Plate Mail +5 and wielding the Flaming Longsword of Multiple Ouchies? Here's how I tried it...
***SPOILERS***
First you get the player familiar with his surroundings (Vol 1 and 2), then change the mood (constant darkness, natural sounds replaced with an eerie one, lack of npcs and hostiles, etc).
Second, you slow down the pace. Constant combat takes away the suspense, so I opted for a Hide and Seek style of gaming. Works for some, not for others.
Finally, you need the Boogeyman. As I said before, it's hard to scare a player whose character is probably tough enough to take it out head on or with henchmen. But what if you discovered the Boogeyman couldn't be killed with any weapon you possessed? The rules have suddenly changed, and now you must avoid the spectral evil until you obtain the one weapon that will defeat them. That was how it was intended at any rate....
I knew some would like it, and others would hate it. You can't please everybody. If I ever start work on Vol 4, the name of the game will be intrigue. Plotting, assassinations, double dealing, back stabbing, that sort of thing. Some will like the style, others won't. Again, you can't please everybody.
Lebowski- I thought about making the final boss tougher, but whenever you do that, you risk making it too tough for characters that aren't tanks or otherwise combat oriented. I might go back and tweak it again though if the majority agree that he needs boosting.
Johnbailiol- I'm glad you added that "yawn" at the end of your little tirade. I wasn't quite sure what you were implying... :P
To those who like the series so far, thanks for your support. It motivates me to continue working on mods and improving my skills. That really means alot to me. I just hope I can release Blacksteel 4 and/or Chaos War 2 before NWN2 comes out and I have to start all over again with a new toolset....

The series is good enough, even with its problem (see the votes for some highlight on what do not work).
The beginning can be incredibly difficult if you don't do everything in your power to get all the gold from the first dock.
Later on things are more acceptable, but part II was an awful pain with spiders and also with the petrifying guys. That by the way are back in chapter III.
After all this freaking power, and the damned indestructible spectres the final guy of chp. 3 was a bit too easy. Actually more than a bit me-think.
Waiting the next chapters. How many are planned?

Some strange happenings, like the disappearence of the simil-halfling henchman, but the mod is good, even if the petrifiyng enemies are a bit too much. Also the final boss was quite disappointing, I was expecting a very tough fight. _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested

Great Series!
I hope we get a bit more NPC choices for the next though I'm not complaining.
So, what type of character do you recommend? Or am I just going to end up using a tank?
