WARNING!!! Mature content!!! (If you download this module and its related content, then your actions are your own responsibility or the ones of your legal guardians! Dont get back to me with hate or immature feedback because of it! Go build something with NWN instead and share it with us.) Oh and parents, watch what your kids browse and download on the Internet!
WARNING!!! Coarse language, violence, gore, nudity and some sexuality!!! If any of this isnt to your tastes or affects you morally, avoid playing the module.
Built to protect the Cairn hills and the surrounding area, Blackwall Keep has been standing on the northern side of the Mistmarsh for decades. Under the command of Anna Lumiere, the keep stood strong against the enemy and bards sang songs about the impressive woman. However the mysterious death of the paladin led the keep under a miserable state.
Now the new leader John Warblade is trying his best to fend off creatures like goblins, lizard folks and a pack of ghouls from the Mistmarsh. Lately however, the goblins displayed combat tactics similar to the ones used by the soldiers. The new commander asked help from the free City of Greyhawk, but alas it might be too late.
With desperation, John launched an assault on the enemys own field. Was the decision any good? Join the keep and find out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
==== Many role-playing choices in conversations. (Youre a tough girl? No problem! Youre a cowardly soldier? No problem! You care only for yourself? No problem! You are honorable? No problem! And so on)
==== Interactive situations like, fishing, cooking, bathing etc Even the digging of graves if youre into that sort of thing!
==== Many custom items. (Armors, items, tools etc )
==== Many custom creatures (You wont fight or interact with the typical NWN goblins, trust me!)
==== Custom portraits and music.
==== One henchman based on the gender of your character.
==== Special rules for food and drinks (No, you dont need either to survive although it helps! Its just another good way to heal up!)
==== With a good perform skill check you can even sing and play music to gain benefits for a certain amount of time.
==== Events based on gender, race and class. (Ex: Rogues get xp by using their skills, sorcerers can tap magic from mana crystals, dwarves could notice unusual stone work etc)
==== Highly detailed areas. (You wont find many modules with area design similar to mine!)
==== Great mood based on sound and visual effects!
(The ugly!)
==== Gold will add weight, so you need belt pouches or some other bag to carry a big amount.
==== Resting is only possible at the keep unless you build a campfire by carrying wood.
==== Some creatures are stupid and cowardly while others are resilient and smart!
==== The goblinette queen enough said!
This is a NWN module experience you will never forget! ;)
Please dont be shy to give some feedback, weather well or bad. Give a vote too. Its good encouragement for every module or content builders. It only takes a few seconds of your time, while it can take days, weeks or months for us builders to create and share our stuff freely with you.
SPOILER !! Pardon , but could anyone please tell me the location of the ore Ridusha needs and also where the ogre has misplaced his spices?
This module has a lot of things going for it. Unfortunately there are also a few significant annoyances that prevented me from giving it a higher rating... Pros: - Very well done scenery; in particular, the swamp looks very swampy... - Interesting NPCs (although interaction with them was rather limited). - Decent (albeit simple) story. - For the most part, there's a decent balance of hack/ slash and role-playing. Cons: - Towards the beginning of the mod I felt there were WAY too many enemies capable of inflicting disease, poison, or stunning you. I enjoy some challenging fights, but at times this mod reached the point of just plain annoying. Since a low lvl character will have low saves this meant I had to reload a lot (usually because Sarah died). - Those ubiquitous, undetectable, and everlasting paralyzing acid traps.. Nothing is more excruciating than waiting to snap out of paralysis again and again... - I disagreed with some of the alignment shifts. (For example, I viewed returning Gorax's hammer to his friend as a Lawful action, but I receive "Good" points). Normally I wouldn't care much about this stuff, but since I was playing an aspiring Blackguard I wanted to avoid Good points... The "happy meal" side quest also (unnecessarily) awards Good points. My Blackguard wasn't doing it out of the kindness of his heart, but for the expectation of a reward. - While there were usually a pretty nice variety of dialog options, there weren't quite enough for my evil character... Killing the cowardly soldier in the beginning didn't really seem like something my Lawful evil character would do, but that was the only semi-appealing evil option I saw in the whole module.. And it didn't help that Sarah (despite being true neutral) was such a goody shoes. - Sarah (your only henchman option) can only level as a fighter. Since I was a fighter, she was practically useless.. To make matters worse I wasn't allowed adjust her equipment, so she kept dying.. - The Goblin Queen; the final battle with her should've been exciting... Unfortunately because she flew away EVERY single time I hit her it was an extremely tedious fight... To make matters worse she casts slow / curse to make you unable to run after her. She wasn't even that tough, because every time she flew away I was able to drink potions... But it was just long and tedious... Kind of a let down. I was never able to find the healing plants (probably just as well since I didn't need any more good points...) I did see some treasure on top of a cliff but couldn't figure out how to access. If anyone reads this, please let me know. All in all, I did enjoy this module. The good definitely outweighed the bad and I will check out part 2.
I think I figured it out. In my LOG, it said that I needed the files from the second game in this series, in folder "BWK2_Haks.rar" to play the game. I downloaded the files from that link, and it worked, so try that.
Vaftrudner: Could you tell us exactly which CEP files you downloaded to make this work? I've tried so many, and I still get that ******* TALK message. Thank you.
Hey ZW. I've just finished your mod. I too had some probs with the custom_talk-thing and at first i discarded it, but luckily I was just too curious and after a succesfull cep-installation (months after I downloaded the mod in the first place) I finally got to play it. WOW! It was really worth the wait. I've played a lot of mods, but this beauty is definitely on my personal top 10. I loved all the skill-checks (perfect for my rogue) and the atmosphere was just fantastic. The weight of wood and money was a little heavy for my rougue, but it felt realistic (who'd walk around with a forest in the bakpack, being able to run in the first place?) :-) Thanx for the great experience. I'm eagerly looking forward to play the sequel. It's sad that you'd quit nwn-building. How many cries and threats (although empty) does it take to make you reconsider? Anyway - thanx again, it was a pleassure playing it. Oh by the way, the queen was one of the more memorable foes I've faced. Thankfully I dodged her flying breast-attack and came out victorious... An epic encounter :-)
I am also getting the missing custom talk file message when I try to load the module. I have downloaded CEP 1.53, and I made sure I had HOTU 1.67. Any more suggestions on what to try?
I just can't get this to work , it always tells me I'm missing a HAK file or a CUSTUM TALK file . can anyone tell me what I might be missing .
I'm kind of new to modding NWN, so I dont' know if it's a common problem or not, but I get a message saying "Missing custom talk table". I downloaded two versions of whatever the CEP is (1.53 which I heard was necessary for this and the latest version when that didn't work). Anyone know what I'm not getting about this?
