Welcome to the arena, Hex Coder! This is an OPTIONAL side story in the HeX coda series which takes place between HX1 and HX2.
It introduces Melee Maidens (a card battle minigame) and features rare cards not available anywhere else in the series, as well as online multiplayer PvP card battles. This module will be updated as new cards are introduced in HX2. (v1.32)

After each fight there is a long wait until game resumes.
After few fights it becomes rather tedious.
Good the game is put into context and plot of HeX series. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

This is a decent arena module, I wasn't overly impressed. _________________________ Don't be ridiculous...

An extremely fun card game, as an interlude to one of the best NWN modules I've played, and a rare S-card from my favorite Codex story, and one of my favorite stories, period?
You go, Gagne. Your art has improved since Penultima and the eternum series, and that's hard to top. Bravo.

A cool little game. I initially didn't try this, because I'm not the sort who will download a "minigame" as opposed to a normal fantasy adventure module, but I decided to check this out when I played what exists of HeX Coda 2 and realized how much fun the card game was. It definitely is a little on the easy side once you learn it (and that shouldn't take long), and the PC doesn't have to give their opponent a card for losing...but who cares? It's addictive. There isn't much of a story here--it's primarily about the cards--but you do meet some interesting characters in your quest to build up your deck!
Can't find B10...methinks I'm skipping right over someone. Anyone?

Great idea. lot's of fun. I think its fairly balanced, and easy to pick up.

Wow. I was actually impressed with this. I moreso just played it to tide things over and get prepared for HX2, but I thought it worked pretty well. Thought it was pretty basic, it was fun. Must be nostalgia from the Pok'emon days. XD _________________________ Related Works:

Has ANYONE ever gotten multiplayer to work on this? I always get Invalid Deck errors. Do you need to be in the same party as the person you're playing against? Any help would be appreciated, or anyone willing to test it with me. [email protected]

Definitely a fun diversion, and setting in in the Hex Coder universe is a big plus. Try as I did, I could not get Multiplayer to work, and posting on Twoflower's journal didn't get me a response, nor did e-mailing. I also couldn't get several of the cards, but the latest release claims to have fixed this. Looking forward to more, Stephen! Thanks.
This update fixes a long-standing major bug, wherein you could never win the following types of cards: Standstill, Leaky Deck, Zero Draw, Reboot Sequence, Anti, Guile.
Since these are really strategic cards and I don't want folks to have to hammer NPCs over and over to check them out, I'm offering a one-time 'cheat' to add one of each to your deck for free. Walk into the invisible trigger in the far northeast corner of the AUTOEXEC.HEX room, and the narrator will give them to you. I really suggest not abusing this, or your game experience will be unbalanced. This 'feature' is not noted in the documentation, because I expect it to scroll off here eventually; it's for the loyal fans.
This feature will be in the next HX2 OpenDev release, so no need to import, do it, export, reimport, etc.
ALSO: The Card Checklist has been fixed / updated to reflect HX2 OpenDev, and Yin's special ability is now available for use.

Bit on the easy side, but very fun. I wish it were a bit more challenging, and there was more to do, but I can always wait for the HX2 and HX3 additions.
It is NOT intended that the latter cards on the list are unobtainable. It's a bug. Thanks for researching it; if you hit more bugs like this please email them to me at [email protected]. I'll fix this for HXM and HX2 OpenDev this weekend.
Yes, it is strange. I was playing with everybody once and again in order to get as much cards as possible in order to begin HX2 with at least 4 fo every effect & bost (3 as the maximum + 1 in case I would lose any playing perhaps vs an oponent). I was about one step to go crazy, when I opened the Aurora.
*POSSIBLE SPOILER*

The card you get (other than maidens you have not yet) is random, but the scope of the function does not cover all the possible cards (there are 20, and only 15 are available). I was guiding by the playlista, and fought a lot of times with the oponents who used thata cards (the skeleton knows my pc name for the times I had tried to get one of its Anti, for instance), to see that is impossible.
Also, serching about the matter, I saw that if you get the Special card (I already had it), the reward and "this module's exclusive rare maiden" is a Heal boost card!, and I already have perhaps 6 or 7 of it.

Is all this intended and correct?
Thanks.

I've never really liked card games but this time I must reconsider my opinion! I really loved this mini module, just as much as the other from this autor! Keep up with the good work!

This was a nice diversion. But lets face it there was no story here and no advancement of character. It was a bit on the easy side. Getting "fairlight" was more difficult than getting "nothing." Only a few fights took more than one attempt so there was no challenge in learning the game after the first few fights. I guess playing with friends would be more fun. It would have been nice to have some contact with the other Hex Coders. I don't know maybe for tips and strategy. I am curious about the implementation in the new game. i hope that this will be integral to the plot in some way. Anyway, a nice diversion. I look so forward to Hex Coda 2. Thanks Stefan and all those that helped with the testing.
MM is a nice pastime while waiting for Hex Coda 2. I got S02 but I am still missing Anti and Guile boost cards and numerous event cards while I have up to 10 of some of the others. Is there any use to hang on to more than 3 of each i.e. can one sell them in HC2? How can I get the other cards? Any suggestens?

*looks at the bag of 'humourous sarcasm' it's dumped into his previous post and thinks, "Damn diluted Cathedral Corp ingredients."
In other news, I find the game easy to play and entertaining, but I read this is a subset? I'm particularly hoping for more intresting event/boost cards myself.
And DrMcCoy... I don't know about star trek either. I particularly don't play star trek games, or participate in star trek IRC sims. *cough cough*
Kali's Cat, though I don't really know Sailor Moon, AFAIK Stefan's "Sailor Nothing" (which you seem to mean) isn't a Sailor Moon fanfic, it just has a similar theme, just darker/more depressiv/"emo"...
I for one enjoying it... A lot...

I'll give this a ten if you keep quiet about reading the fanfics. Thank you. :3

ARRRRRRG! Damn your paws for putting links to fanfics in cards, damn YOOOOOOOU!
>_>
I do not read fanfics. Particularly sailor moon fanfics.

Nicely implemented, easy to get the hang of, difficult but not frustrating... great jorb, hamstray.
This is a minor "fix". Basically, I've disabled the save-slot system. Why? Well, all it did was say "Yes, I met Jean, Grody and XP." That's pretty minor, and given the unworkable problems I was having with it I decided to say Fork This Shirt and just make HX2 so the story assumes you played HXM. (There will be a "My memory's spotty. Who're you again, Jean?" option when you meet her, however, and such.)
Don't worry about saves you might have made already; you didn't corrupt your data or anything. And remember, you can still win a rare card if you have S02 in your deck when you talk to the Narrator and export your character!
I am still looking for testing feedback on Multiplayer and other bugs. I haven't been able to access IGN for awhile now, so I've likely missed a few things that were posted. Please email me at [email protected] if you have a repeatable problem. Note that the game is not compatible with hardcore difficulty, "friendly fire," the PRC, THE CEP or any other override based systems.

Anonymous: Make sure you have HX1 installed, like the documentation says. You also need NWN+SOU+HOTU updated to the latest version. Beyond that... don't know, sorry.

is this just me or what when i goto start moduel it says "missing required voicepak" plz tell me why thanks.
Jason: Probably related to the display bug. Just pick the same slot you used when you saved your game at the end of HX1; it adds to the existing data, like the Narrator says. I'll clarify it more in the next version.
