Description
Your life had drifted along aimlessly until one day an exotic young woman introduced herself and offered you the chance to change things. You had a special talent, she said. You could help someone in need. You could travel to distant lands unlike any place you had ever been. You could achieve wealth and power beyond your current understanding.
It had to be you, she said. She could not explain now. There was too much distance to travel in too short a time. The details would be revealed when you needed them.
For now, all you needed to do was climb aboard her ship - The Dastards Morrow.

Dastards Morrow - Maiden Voyage is a single-player module for level 1 characters. It features an original campaign setting where magic is frowned upon, non-humans are tolerated, and the powerful Church of Hylen pulls the strings of government in accordance with its rigid dogma. A compelling main storyline is set against the backdrop of a dynamic, non-linear environment where your creativity as a player matters more than your ability to jump through hoops.
Version 2.5 includes some new features in addition to the usual bug fixes. See the readme for details.

Nice module - a lot of fun. It's a cool story in a well-developed world. I liked the little twist at the end.

Is sequel to much to ask for?
Few issues:
- camera hack messes with some cutscenes(wrong angles)
- cutscenes dispel my haste-like effects of dm_mylittlepony
- "solider" - Nemorem convo typo
- more bags of holding would have been nice.
- what was hollisberries for? Apart from selling?
- no starnge woman behind the secret door, her familiar says she is still alive. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

This module only lacks that very tiny bit of faith in the writing and polishing that make you reach the stars, but it gets you very close.
And with a little effort on the player side...
It's like the cook got himself all the best ingredients around, but... finally... even after months of hard work... and, unexpectedly but so humanly, at the very last minute... got a bit lazy on the sauce.
Still, one of the best restaurants I ever tried.

This is one of the best modules on the vault. I was absolutely hooked playing it.
I played a CN rogue and was surprised to find pick pocket useful. Houses are actually populated rather than being impossible to enter: something I've found to be uncommon.
Your henchmen have interesting personalities and, wonder of wonders, I managed to get through the game without having to revive mine. I didn't manage to start a romance, but the I enjoyed the conversations nonetheless.
A sequel may be too much to hope for, but I will anyway. The main plot thread of this mod is wrapped up and technically it could end here, but there is enough material to continue the story. I'd just like to put that out there for anyone worried about cliffhangers: you won't be left wondering about major plot points.

If this was a book it was a real pageturner!

Curse you Mat Jobe! You made me love something with a cliff hangery ending that there seems like there will be no sequel for!
And now there are unresolved things in my brain!
Anyhow, great story, very good RP, I felt like there could have been a little more from the Henchie via dialogue other than their opinions on other NPCs, but aside from that, very solid.
I think the only thing missing is a sequel... have I mentioned something about that yet?
Thanks for your time on a great gaming experience. _________________________ I'll tell you all my secrets but I lie about my past

Really good low-level module. I wish there had been a sequel.

Personnaly, I used the PC from this module to play Bioware's Pirates of the Sword Coast. Her level was just fine.

It does indeed deserve a sequel. I thought it was quite good, well written, in depth characters and story line. It is really a shame if there is to be no sequel. _________________________ Dying's easy Living's hard

Mat: You know deep in your heart that you want to complete this serie.
All those nights when you wake up at the middle of the night, thinking you just heard the roar of the sea thundering against cliffs, and the creaking sound of a Brigantine moving trough the high seas. feeling like one of the lost crew of The Mary Celeste... It's this module that calls your name. ;)

This mod was very enjoyable to play - the storyline was original and well written, the characters engaging (I played through with a female druid), I really liked the henchman and his story, and the plot and quests kept me thoroughly interested. It is sad that there will not be a sequel - this is a story and setting that truly deserves one.

Really great module that already makes me think about replaying with another character. Seeing the last time this was updated was over 2 years ago, how are the chances of a sequel? I'd certainly love to play one, especially since NWN is still one of the best if not the best CRPG out there because of modules like this. Thanks for making it.

Great mod!
I must've missed something though...how do you have a romance? I mean I went out of my way to be nice to Nemorem but nothing...where did I go wrong? Is it because I didn't know how to track down the man who mangled his face? HELP! _________________________ The less you know, the more you believe.

This was really something totally different. I liked the setting and the atmosphere.
A sequel would be great.

Might it be that you are not using the proper version of CEP? THis module was buit before CEP2, so you need to have CEP1 files installed in your NWN folders.
Hi. the module looks really good, but im having trouble playing it. whenever i try to load it, it says: Cannot load: Missing required custom talk table.
Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this!!
Posted by Berra at 2008-07-18 05:13:44 Voted 9.75 on 04/26/08
*Kaotiqua,
It appears like the author wanted to have two different versions included, namely version 2.0 (which lies in the extra folder) and the 2.5 version (the first mod you see when you open the archive).
Perhaps the 2.0 version uses a nwn game-version that is older than version 1.68 and the 2.5 version REQUIRES version 1.68 of NWN. If you edit a module that uses, say for example; v.1.65 of NWN, and save that module with an updated version (for example v.1.68) of the NWN-game, then that module will require that version in order to be able to play.
I'm a little confused- Downloaded the zip file to find two versions of the mod inside... thought maybe you'd just included it twice accidentally, because of the folder structure, but no.... they're two different sizes. Looked around for some note explaining that one had different compatibilities or something... could find no such reference. What's up wit dat? _________________________ "There's no religion but time & motion-

*Mat Jobe,
I really enjoyed playing your module! :D It felt extremely polished, atmoshperic, engaging and fun. :) The story kept me very interested as did the different characters that were featured ... it also had quite a few original concepts and ideas ... overall; I really enjoyed it. :D I also found it nice to see that the mod featured romances, which is always a nice addition. :P
Other than that the main quest felt a little too "get-the-items"-like BUT I'll have to admit that it didn't effect the overall gaming-experience much. I'll rate it 9.75.
Everyone: your VOTES are highly appriciated. A vote is like gold for an author. No kiddin'. ;)

Great module - well balnced, interesting characters, challenging and an intriguing story line. Every step of the way I felt in control - my character made her own choices and it felt very natural within the dialogue.
Thankyou Matt :)

Hi Toop,
Don't worry, you provided a very helpful item to deal with any situation in your "absence".
The romance offers interesting dialog options, although I felt too many of them might put further progress in peril: I'll have to replay this part to see how strong Nemorem's love is... I would also like to point out I was a bit surprised it was impossible to use the room for its casual purpose and rest for a few hours once the romance conversation was over.
