(ZW Presents) Blackwall Keep (The Seed of Darkness)
!!!UPDATE!!! 10-15-06. Included is a CE Module version without the fix horror camera mode for folks who cant stand it and for folks playing on a very high resolution. (Be warned I only took the cams out and I did not test it, but it should work fine.)
Requirements: NWN, SOU, HOTU 1.68 and CEP 1.68 (Please dont forget all of the earliest CEP patches!)
Hak Packs: ZW_Base_Haks (Click on the link found on this very page!) ZW's BWK2 Hak and Music (Found on this very page!) The same goes for two tilesets (On Eldonorian's page, you just need the Blood Dungeon, not the mines!)
WARNING!!! Extreme content and it's for adults only!!! (If you download this module and its related content, then your actions are your own responsibility or the ones of your legal guardians! Don't get back to me with "hate" or "immature" feedback because of it! Go build something with NWN instead and share it with us.) Oh and parents, watch what your kids browse and download on the Internet!
WARNING!!! Coarse language, violence, gore, nudity and explicit sexuality!!! If any of this isn't to your tastes or affects you morally, avoid playing the module.
WARNING!!! You have been warned again!

Background:
After the defeat of the Goblinette Queen, you were sent home to Diamond Lake to take some time off with family and friends. A reward given by the commander of Blackwall Keep for your heroic deeds. Although you've gained some weight, the last time spent home was great, but now you must head back to the keep. What will happen during your travel? Did anything change at Blackwall Keep since you left? Pack up your gear and take the Urnst Trail to find out
Author's notes:
Welcome to Blackwall Keep' sequel. In this new installment the story begins with simplicity and free-form adventure, but once the events start in Blackwall you will learn about a dark twisted secret There are a few side-quests chosen randomly before reaching the keep. One of those hard to find quests is for female players exclusively. Some "standard" side-quests can also be found.
==== Many ROLE-PLAYING choices in conversations. (You're a tough girl? No problem! You're a cowardly soldier? No problem! You care only for yourself? No problem! You are honorable? No problem! And so on) Your choices can or will have dire consequences this time around.
==== Interactive situations like, fishing, cooking, bathing etc Even the digging of graves if you are into that sort of thing!
==== Many custom items. (Armors, items, tools etc Even Asian stuff!)
==== Many custom creatures (You won't fight or interact with the typical NWN creatures, trust me!)
==== Custom portraits and music.
==== Special rules for food and drinks (No, you don't need either to survive although it helps! It's just another good way to heal up!)
==== With a good perform skill check you can even sing and play music to gain benefits for a certain amount of time.
==== Events based on gender, race and class. (Ex: Rogues get XP by using their skills, sorcerers can tap magic from mana crystals, dwarves could notice unusual stone work etc)
==== Highly detailed areas. (You won't find many modules with area design similar to mine!)
==== Great mood based on sound and visual effects!
(The ugly!)
==== Puzzles and riddles. You'll need to use your head to overcome them. (Some are simple, while others are complicated!)
==== Gold will add weight, so you need belt pouches or some other bag to carry a big amount.
==== Resting is only possible at inns and into allowed rooms unless you build a campfire by carrying wood.
==== Some creatures are stupid and cowardly while others are resilient and smart!
==== Fixed camera SURVIVAL HORROR a la Resident Evil!

This is a Terrifying NWN module experience you will never forget! ;)
PLEASE VOTE! It's good encouragement for every module or content builders. It only takes a few seconds of your time, while it can take days, weeks or months for us builders to create and share our stuff freely with you.
Is there any way to get out of the forced romance with Sarah? I didn't even pay attention to her at all in the first module and suddenly she's all over me.

As good as the first one... though it definitely left me wanting to play the third chapter... unfortunately it seems that won't be possible. A pity... the author had a great hand for creating atmospheric areas and scenes, the writing was very good and even the survivor horror part was very well done.
I suspect the author didn't like the idea of having to remove some of the elements of his original design (such as the random transitions in the first mod or the fixed camera in this one). I have to admit they really worked as a narrative tool, creating the feeling of being lost and getting mad... without them both situations didn't feel as bad as they should. That's not to say that I liked the way the original mods played... I didn't... they were quite frustrating... but I understand that was there for a reason. Perhaps the idea that he would have to remove such features from the third mod too was partially responsible for his abandoning the project... what a pity.

Wonderful piece of gaming and writing. Even better than Part I. No, wait I take that back, Part I was definitly better. Or is it this one. I'm confused...
Amazing job.
One NWN serie to be remembered among the best.

Quite a good unit the most unexpected was the conclusion and content of which shows the unfinished business if it had been planned for 3 more honor would be good.
Just finished the mod. Overall, I was impressed with your scripting and writing skills, but I've got two major problems w/ the mod:
1. No matter how badly I treated my love interest in the last module, in this one they won't stay away from me. She/he isn't actually all that important to the plot, so why include that part?
2. Madness. I don't appreciate automatically getting a bad ending just because I made a few bad will saves, ESPECIALLY since you recommended fighter classes for this mod series. The fact that this problem can only be avoided by reloading a lot of saved games doesn't help.

Well, if I've learned anything from Neverwinter Nights campaigns, it's if I ever encounter a man named Arto I should run like mad in the opposite direction, it's not often that you encounter a story that stays so dark and though it creeped me out a bit I appreciate that not everyone has to make a happy or happyish ending.

This was a really enjoyable mod. I like to play as a tank or a waif and honestly this mod catered to both pretty well. Playing a female PC I had to raise an eyebrow at the fate of poor Stan..what an ending! But that did make this mod more interesting for it. Well done

Thanks for this excellent mod! The crypt puzzle is quite tough. I could not have escaped without the the walkthrough. Felt quite bad for the blind girl. Wish there is a way to help her...
To all missing the CEP haks...
U need to D/L all CEP's even the older versions to play some of the older MODS. I know this bytes specially for those that have slow Internet speeds. The way i did it a long time ago is I D/L the CEP v1 -2.1 installed starting with v1 all the way to 2.2 along with patches in order.
as u will need the older one like i said for older Mods.
This includes talk files too ya'll for some...
Have a Wonderful Morning..
Shadow...
aka if there r spellin errors so sorry as its 3:30 am here and still waking up;)
Ugh, I had just finished BWK1 and was all set for 2 and i am already having problems. The Module wont load because of missing haks. does anyone know where i can find them at so i can play?
"sou162-phr01.hak"
"eld61blood.hak"

Hmm, when I try to run I get a missing hak dealy, and the log says:
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "ceptexture.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cepportrait.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cepplace.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cepcreature.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cepbaseitem.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cepanatomy.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep2da.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep1patch.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep1patch150.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep1patch152.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep1patch153.hak"
Couldn't load the Hak Pak File "cep1patch168.hak"
The answer seems obvious enough but I've installed the CEP a few weeks ago and presumably its all working as other modules that require the CEP run fine.

This was a very good mod! I took my female elven rogue from the first part through and ended up at level 10, almost 11. I don't normally enjoy the surviving horror stuff (really hate the undead!) but this was very well done. I especially liked that the torches can keep the undead away. The ambiance, atmosphere, storyline and dialogue were brilliant. The only issues I had were that once or twice Stanley was referred to as Sarah and my "her" as a "him". Too bad it doesn't look like there's a part three. I'm going on board to see if there are any Greyhawk setting mods that may suit my girl. _________________________ Well...who would have thought THAT would happen?

I enjoyed this module too, very nice. During the looting is something nonsense, even if my player is lonely in a closed room can be seen when force locks and steal things...

I really enjoyed the storyline and I like how dark the feel of the mod was. I liked it much better than the first one because the different screens weren't as confusing to navigate. (I kept getting lost in the swamp in part 1 when all the map markers said 'Exit' which is NOT a big help.) The only issue I had was that for some reason when I first got back to the Keep after Dragon's Den everyone called me a thief and some attacked me on sight for stealing from one of my own. I am positive my Lawful Good character didn't do that! I had to start over (yes, yes rookie mistake forgetting to save often...I just get so addicted to quicksave!).
Anyway, good work here. It's a real shame there won't be either a better ending or a part 3.
That said, I absolutely detest when we are promised another sequel and it's abandoned. I get it that life gets in the way but would an update to make the ending better be too much to ask? Throw me a bone here :) _________________________ The less you know, the more you believe.

Fantastic module. I loved the atmosphere and the music, only issue I had was some of the bland cursing in the dialouge, and that didn't pop up very often. I'm amazed this module flew completely under my radar until just two days ago, definately deserves a higher spot in the module listings.

Oh yes I also found it a bit annoying that most of the new equipment I found in the Crypt up until the end was unusable to my Blackguard because either (a) My Lore skill wasn't high enough to identify it (a few lore potions would've prevented this) or (b) It was restricted to good aligned characters. Why is John's sword only for good characters (he certainly wasn't good)?

This mod certainly took an unexpected direction. There were some things I really liked about part 2:
Pros:
-There was a special quest for evil characters (Unfortunately it was too short / easy... I think the mansion should have had a few guards to make it more interesting).
- Although I thought a little more story development would've been nice (The subquests were kind of bland but I found the main story and twists very interesting).
- Like the first mod, this one features great custom music!
Cons (spoilerish):
- The beggar and skunks are rather annoying... The walkthrough tells you to avoid them, so why were they even included?
- After Arto steals all your equipment you encounter powerful undead that inflict disease... I tried to avoid them but it still led to a frustrating series of reloads.
- I felt the part where Arto suddenly knocks you out was rather contrived. How was he so easily able to knock out my Blackguard, who was in full plate mail and a helmet? At least tell me he used a poison blow dart or something.. Perhaps there should've been some skill checks that made it possible to prevent him from knocking me out and stealing all my stuff. I felt like there should have at least been a chance to stop Arto right there and prevent him from harming your love.
My character and Sarah decided to stand up to John after he yelled at us... But then he just orders us around and we're like "Yes Sir!" ... It Really felt like there should have been a true alternate ending.. (i.e., if you stand up to John and tell him you and your love are leaving then they attack you right there... It just felt like my path in this mod was too restricted...
I liked the ending for evil characters though both endings were far too brief and short.. Its a real shame that ZW has retired from making mods. Despite my complaints I enjoyed this series and I'd really LOVE to see a part 3.

Comments on BK1. I'm sorry to hear you've moved on. Good luck with your new projects. I, for one, will still check on your submissions page from time to time, though :)
ZW,
If you're still checking this, I've been away for a while (real life work) but I didn't see any messages in my profile.
BTW, my bioware name is "Morandir I". Try re-sending it there. Thanks. _________________________ "In life, one and one don't make two. One and one make one."
-The Who "Bargain"
You have no choice for the evil action at the end scene if your character failed his madness tests. That is because darkness dominated your character's will. The game ultimately ends that way. If during the game your character keeps control of the madness with successful tests, you get the option to save her.
/////END OF SPOILERS/////
If I am able to update one day, it is something I will look into, as the madness level seems hard to beat by most players.
