Description
It began with a dream. A dream of fate, a dream of sorrow. And through the dream the future wept, grieving for the lost tomorrow. For again the wheels of time shall turn. Without justice, without care. And once again shall darkness reign upon a world within despair. And though some had seen the coming storm, none could hold against its tide. For even gods must heed fates plan. That which is destined, cannot be denied.
This is the first module in the Prophet series, a short prologue to introduce the story. While this module can be played multi-player mode, it is intended for a single player who will be the central character for the subsequent modules in the series. Those subsequent modules may be played in either single- or multi-player mode.
Version 2.0
NOTE: These modules should be played in "Hardcore" difficulty or higher.
NOTE: This module requires CEP v1.68, which can be obtained here: Link (Thanks to jbaudrand for finding this)
This is the .tlk file for CEP. It should have been installed in your NWN/tlk directory, but somehow CEP sometimes doesn't do this correctly. Here is the file - you can put it in your NWN/tlk directory if it isn't in there already.

I posted all of my comments in the last module.

I just completed the module for the first time and so far I'm really enjoying the series. The storyline feels like a handcrafted PnP campaign, all the cleverness included. I did feel rather confused during some parts, but I see now that much of it was planned confusion by the creator. Lots of foreshadowing really keeps me interested in what's going to happen next; a good sign for a great series. :) _________________________ _________________________

Sorted the DL issue out- apparently my Firefox doesn't like straight click- to DL and corrupts almost everything that way. rightclick-save as works though, so I finally got to start this mod. YAY!
Playing this through, as a ranger-rogue, along with a Paladin via the OHS henchmen system, as well as having NWNCQ installed. Let me first say- if the visuals were stunning on their own, adding NWNCQ over the top makes them posatively mind-blowing. In many cases the scenery comes close to NWN2's graphics. Glorious! (Though admittedly, NWNCQ DOES occasionally make it difficult to locate small items and treasures that are hidden under it's phantom graphics additions. Totally worth it though.)
I've had no trouble at all with the OHS henchman, was delighted to find no painful level or item strips, so I could play at a level that was comfortable for me, and not have to struggle to find gear I consider personally critical. Bravo!
Right at the start, I did NOT feel railroaded into the mod's linear plotline, as many leave me feeling- again- bravo! The story drew me in, and made me WANT to follow it, as well as offering different ways to approach the story. This is a HUGE issue in many mods, just as much as it is a HUGE issue in tabletop, when less-gifted DMs tell you to just shut up and agree to play along.
The scripting is brilliant without being obtrusive- arrow-and-bolt recovery? AWESOME! I'll save my other praise for the other chapters, where it belongs. The intro mod is first rate- a solid 10. _________________________ "There's no religion but time & motion-

Hm, I just tried and the ZIP downloaded fine, and I can open it and see the MOD file. I didn't try opening it (I'm not at my gaming computer) but the size and date look correct. Were you able to get this far?

tried to DL and play this, but the mod zip is apparently corrupted. I tried four times to DL- none would open. :( _________________________ "There's no religion but time & motion-

This mod did a great job getting me excited about playing the rest of the series. It was a little too short to give higher than a "9" to though. A few more optional sub quests would have improved it a bit. Looking forward to playing the rest of the series!!

The perfect set-up to an incredible series. I played the prologue and chapter 1 years ago. I replayed it again recently. It is still dazzling.

Just voting. My comments: in the thread of the last mod in the series.

An excellent start to the "Prophet" series. The module's age shows in the area design and placeables, although the halfling village has some nice custom features. The scripting is flawless and the NPC interactions and cutscenes are significantly better than the norm. The story itself is of course the reason for playing and its beginning does not disappoint. The author does a particularly good job of setting the stage an in interesting way without requiring a particular kind of background from the PC. The high-quality documentation included also makes for a good read. Finally, the author deserves credit for updating the mod from the original version.

Easiest 10 I have ever given. If you have not played this series, you simply must! Engaging story, amazing visuals and like that good book, hard to put down. Great work!!

My favourite NWN serie of all.
That's enough comment in my opinion. No more spoilers.
See for yourself.

I'm rating this same as Chapter 1 (multiplayer considerations aside, it doesn't make sense to play one and not the other).

Character: Halfling 4Rog/2Ran from Cave of Songs, did not advance a level.
It almost feels wrong to vote on this module, as it's very much just meant to be the opening act in a larger saga. You begin the module in the Hopping Hobgoblin Inn after waking from a disturbing and vivid dream in which a halfling village is slaughtered. As you head downstairs, you meet a young halfling adventurer, who is alarmed to hear you describing his own village just a few miles from the inn. The two of you rush there to find out whether this dream of yours is a premonition...or just a dream.
The story is good here, with good pacing and execution, and it sets up the next chapter in the saga very well (though naturally there's little sense of closure at the end of this one). It is a very short adventure, and as such it is very linear. There was at least one interesting side-quest of sorts that I happened upon involving a fallen druid. What little combat there is seemed appropriate for the setting, and was never too challenging for my duo of halflings in the game. I did very much enjoy the halfling henchman's character, and look forward to seeing him develop in future modules. In the end, it's a fun but short module to play, and leaves you wanting a lot more by the end. And that's exactly what it's meant to do! _________________________ My NWN Blog FRW Character Creator

Skyelander- most likely, it requires you install the old CEP 1.68 (in addition to your current CEP) which will have it's own tlk file. I haven't played these yet, so I can't say that with certainty, but it's something I've run into before with older mods. _________________________ "There's no religion but time & motion-

I can run Prophet 1 & 2 - but for some reason, not this prologue. I get a hak missing error. running 1.69 and CEP2.3 What hak could it need that isn't in the other 2? Is this related to the CEP talk file?

I felt this was tooooooooo short and half of it was traveling. Then again this is a prologue. Starting sequence was good but quests etc felt like a pretty standard neverwinter module stuff.
I am still excited about chapter 1. _________________________ Neverwinter Balance Patch Balance Patch

Beautifully and eloquently sets up the story for our grand adventure! Wonderfully told; mesmerizing visuals; great henchmen! I look forward to part 2! _________________________ Well...who would have thought THAT would happen?
Cheers, I have NWN, SoU, HotA 1.69, CEP 2.2, and cannot load due to missing haks. Haks listed as missing are as follows:
ceptexture
cepportrait
cepplace
cepcreature
cepbaseitem
cepanatomy
cep2da
cep1patch
I am going to try and hunt them down on my own, but I noticed you asked earlier for a list, so here they are :D
I played Cave of Song before this. It seems like a good prologue to the prologue. :-) Nice to start back at the in and see familiar characters. Too bad they didn't remember me.
Amazing dream sequence!
I haven't got anywhere and I plan to start over but I encountered an issue. When Merudoc was in my party, I told him to be stealthy, and we went to visit the Mayor he dropped from my party and never saw him again. A lot of his conversation was listed "unknown voice". I guess I won't tell him to be stealthy next time.
What is the appropriate level to play this if you are going to go Solo into Chapter 1?

Hi Baldecaran,
I'm really happy to have news from you and your amazing saga!!
I just re install the game now, I'm 100% sure I have CEP 2 last time I played on your module, maybe I used a fix to prevent this bug, And couldn't find it now.
I will retry..
If I can't play, that's not a really problem I'm still thinking/remeber you are the best Multi mod we ever play!!! _________________________ You want an intro for your mod? Link

Which haks are you missing? (load it in the toolset for a listing)
I still have not upgraded the module to CEP2. It turns out that there are some conflicts with the prophet0.hak hakpak. I'll work on it a bit and hopefully can post an upgrade. If anyone has suggestions on smoothing the transition in a mod from CEP1 to CEP2, I'm all ears!
Armaranth:
I'm sorry that I didn't respond for so long. It has been a busy year. Anyway, I really don't know what could prevent the prophet character from sitting next to Merudoc. I've never seen that so all I can suggest is to reload from an earlier save...
