"Your path is twisted, child. Your future is not clear. There are many possibilities yet.
I see a dark path... It's a foreign land you walk in, knowing no happiness, just sorrow and fear... and blood. I see your hands, your arms, your face, stained with the blood of your enemies...
Side by side you walk with the dark one. You lead him, but he holds the chain around your neck...
There is more. I see icy cold. Stars shining from a moonlit sky. Mists of air gathering around you as you stumble through the snow...
You killed the king! But you need him to return home...
Together you stand on the island, but there's only death around you... You walk the land of the dead, not knowing whether you are a part of it yet...
I see a temple. It's evil. It draws you near. It swallows you...
There's blood on your hands. You've killed your comrades so you may live!
You lie with the black knight. He makes you scream out in ecstasy! Your bodies are entangled, your skin is covered with sweat...
In the end, you are betrayed."
Part two of A Dance with Rogues.
The story picks up at the point where the main character leaves Betancuria and sets sail for the village of Westwood. There is no introduction this time as this is not a whole new module but rather the second part of the story that has been started in part one. Hence it should only be played with a character you finished the first part with.
This is for Adults only! Contains graphical and verbal nudity, explicit content and forms of violence.
IMPORTANT! You need my hak pack "ACAG" so all the armor and clothes look as intended. Otherwise, everything will look REALLY messed up. I couldn't put the link here as by the time I was writing this, the hak pack had not yet been approved by the site admin.
A few other hints:
- Do not break conversations using the "ESC"-key. I have no idea what will happen if you do - you may get stuck, see funny results, or your computer may just commit suicide.
- Do not attack friendly creatures. If you wish to start a fight, do so choosing the appropriate options in the conversation trees.
- You get XP for picking locks, disarming traps and pick pocketing stuff. You also get XP for a successful skill check (persuade, bluff, intimidate etc.), so it's a good idea to spend a few points there.
- Most XP is granted for progressing in the story line.
- There's little (really little!) XP for killing things. There's "bonus" XP for killing things if the story requires it - you may however get the same amount of XP - or more! - by being sneaky and finding a way other than using violence...
- Upgrade your equipment! Spend your money! A couple of times it "may" seem like you lose your gear but there's always a chance to get everything back.
- The same applies to your henchmen (there are around ten you could pick up). Care for them, feed them, equip them well, and they'll be a big help, and more?! ;-)
- A lot of "riddles" can be solved in different ways. If a door is too hard to unlock or you just cannot find that one stupid key, try looking for a different way.
A big thanks to everyone who helped me with testing, feedback, encouragement, ...!
Especially to my two "lead" testers Hagaar and Thirdpres for constantly "bugging" me with ideas :-)
Also, a big thanks to Jhmssa for those "special" scripts that are used at the Cult Site, and to Magnus Tamelander for his wonderful "cover picture"! :-)
The modules (parts one and two) now contain over 250.000 words of written dialogue (though most of it is cyber sex :P). It is a fantasy world of the mine, the result of many many many many (did I say many?) hours of (day-)dreaming.
I refuse to feel responsible for any mental damage playing this may cause :P I however do hope that you have fun playing it. If you don't, simply stop. If you do, that's all the reward I ever wanted...
I know it's kinda hard to hope for these days but Is there any chance we might see updates from Valine or additional contents from others?

I'm not complaining... just stating why I down-scored. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them. Thanks, Steve

@ Lamb... IMHO it just makes plane sense to flag (or at least some where describe) a module as Adult or Mature or extreme violence etc., if not for those who do not desire to play such modules, then at least for the concerned parent. ADWR would not have been a module I would have wanted my children to be playing when they were younger. *bleep*, non-consensual sex, bestiality, extreme graphical violence are not concepts IMO that young minds need to deal with. They'll get enough of it in time. As a parent, I always took the time to read just about everything my kids were reading and played just about every game my children played but as a teach, I know that not every parent does the same thing. Flagging is just courteous and eliminates a possible unwanted surprise for some. Now, on the other hand, to download a module which is flagged as violent or Adult/Mature, and then come online and complain that it has violent, adult/mature content is simply ridiculous... they were warned. _________________________ "Space is big. @Dwayne on a rating scale of 1 to 10 an anything above a 7 is well above average. When I first rated part one and part two, I gave them both an 8 because I thought they were good, darn good in fact, but that there was room for improvement. Valine, at least in the past, has provided updates and impovements to the module. I still would not give this one a 10... it still needs some work especially in relation to updated first module. _________________________ "Space is big. Really big. It's the prudes who make the authors flag their modules as adult. I recently played a good one which mentioned "sexual themes" in the warning, and I can't recall anything of the sort in the module. (Commenting to vote, which I, too, thought that I already did...)

@ralebeau Twisted Celt I played Arandie, well.. I should say, I started it. never got to finish it however. don't recall any bugs, but then I didn't exactly get very far before my laptop's charger port got fried. but anyway, my initial impression was, it did at least seem interesting. might as well redownload it...makes me glad I at least have my mac to play on. I do agree, though, there are very few adult modules. and the of the ones there actually are, most tends to be more comical in approach, and/or are entirely unrealistic. there are also a few that say "adult" but contain very little to no adult content at all. thankfully, this series isn't like that, and has a much more serious tone to it. I still say Valine should have left the pregnancy possibility in part 1. would have forced you to buy that tea that now has no use :P wonder why if it was taken out anyway...maybe it wasn't and she just couldn't find the right way to implement it.. *shrugs* hmm...might turn more into a "Sims" style game instead...would be distracting I suppose. _________________________ jml's list of community addons/overrides, etc. Link

From reading the interview with Valine... which I did a long time ago... I gathered that the point of her work was not to make a story (from which the adult content could have been excluded, to make it better for certain people). She was making a module for herself, with the kind of content that the OC and expansions lacked: other characters finding a female protagonist desirable and acting accordingly. At least I think so, and that is something I can identify with. But everyone has their own way of voting, and the average rating sorts itself out.

You vote an 8 and want an update? I can see why Valine doesn't care anymore. Why should she with all the low votes from people who say they like the module.

@Twisted Celt Many of the other adult mods don't get close to the ADWR standards, but since you have already tried FallynRayne's Gladiatrix there is still Arandie. Pretty old but still works ok with most of the patches since release, complex tale and cities with hidden easter egg quests around.
