A secret war is being fought in the shadows of Europe. Demons walking the earth disguised as men are feasting upon the blood of the innocent. In the forefront of this battle is the Order of Abel. A clandestine order created from within the Christian church which has taken it upon itself to put an end to this the darkest of curses. These secretly trained assassins are serving as the sword and shield in the hands of God, with the soul purpose of ridding the world of the plague of the Vampire.
This module is not based on, but greatly inspired by White Wolfs World of Darkness (Vampire the Masquerade/Requiem). Its a story driven single player adventure, set in a Europe where most people lives happily unaware of the demons lurking in the shadows of their cities. The enlightened ones, however, find themselves in a conflict unlike any other. Its a conflict not as black and white as it may seem, but a war with heroes and murderers on both sides.
Character requirements:
- 1st level Human/male/Fighter.
Reasons why:
1) The background story of your character will be revealed throughout the game, and simply wont make sense if you play as a female.
2) Youre a man of the sword in a world where elves and wizards exists only in fairytales.
Additional info:
- No Respawn.
- No Rest
- +50 000 words of written dialogue.
- 12 quests. (Half of which is hidden/optional)
- 33 areas.
- Custom-made Vampire skills.
- 2 different endings.
- WARNING! Contains; Violence, sex, drugs and blasphemous language -
If you do feel offended, think about this: This is a story about soulless creatures forced
into cannibalism in order to survive. Neither these monsters nor those who hunt them are likely to be nice people.

Very cinematic and atmospheric, The vampire skills were a nice idea, although I found myself not using all of them. I think it was mentioned before but, I didn't really care about the characters much. That may have been by design given it's dark nature. It went into the main character's back story a little bit in one scene, but this module just feels like a "prelude" To something much grander. It's very cool for what it is.

Very nice module, the reskin of the city made it very atmospheric.
Few issues:
- conversations dispel my haste(cheat code), don't know if it's the same as speed skill.
- some doors are passable in mist form and some are not, the second one being so only because plot demands so. No explanation given.
- 3 knights in the shelter are too strong, used mist form and everything was OK
- you can carve multiple hearts out of the corpses, if you are not too slow
- being invisible mist bartender still saw me sneaking through the door and taking his stuff made him aggressive.
- no pawn shop in medieval city? Had much stuff I couldn't sell:(
- some healing potions here and there - shouldn't be there I think
- sha-forat prisoners - no way to free them, now that I'm thinking about it - maybe I should use the mist form?
- blank journal entry "henchman" _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

Even though I forgot to vote when I played this a few years ago, I still have fond memories of it. Great atmosphere and good use of the setting!

This is a truly great mod and certainly in the best I've played on the vault. The story and the way the vampire powers are executed is excellent. I love the moral ambiguity of the characters (all of the vampires are not evil and all of the vampire hunters are not good).
The fighting is pretty well balanced and battles actually move the story forward (rather than just being there to give exp or "challenge" the player).
My main complaint with this is I wish it were longer... Also I think the mod could have used a bit of polish- there were no bugs, but there were numerous typos and some of the dialogue could have been tweaked to be more believable.
I think the mod would have benefited from adding a few persuade / intimidate conversation options, too.
*Minor spoilers*
The medicine sidequest also seemed to lack any sort of point (I didn't notice an exp reward, no item was received, etc.) Perhaps that's because helping the sick girl was truly an act of selflessness, but I think at the very least a good alignment shift would have been appropriate. Also, while my character could recover HP from drinking the blood of fresh corpses, it didn't make sense why I couldn't feed off of humans that I killed...
With a bit of tweaking I think this could have been a perfect 10. Still, it's great and I just wish the author had made a part 2!

@%$%*# masterpiece! I give this 10. Outstanding module with magnificent storyline. I tried all endings and they was great and touching. Probably the best module that i've played. I hope to see more modules from chojin.

Excellent. This is one of the best pieces of programming art I can imagine. The atmosphere is just breathtaking and the vampire skills are incredibly well done. The only thing that is sad, of course, is that I wanted it to be longer ;-) .... But it is great for what it is. And the cutcsenes are nothing but amazing. And nice sound and effects ... and I love the camera move in the dialogues, it is so nice to look at the people you are talking with and actually see their gestures. _________________________ "A Hippie's Tale", a colouful little module: Link

A great module -- really chilling and...unsettling to say the least [and I must say that I am not easily unsettled]...
I was hoping that it would be even longer, though I can tell it was a lot of work just to make everything work properly in - game [Scripts ETC]...
The atmosphere was incredible, and the tones/themes were really well done... _________________________ Fear of the unknown, creates a fear for the flesh...

I liked the start. However, when Saga died without being able to do anything (i had a heal kit ready, potions? ) and then being unable to open the prisoners down in the sewers (no clue either, no key dropped or anything), it did break my immersion. This was even more strengthened by what i would call missing conversation options.. Saga has nothing to say after you denied sacrificing, her you cannot outright refuse Balthasars command to kill Grigori... You define your module as roleplaying, and i really liked that.. but when things start to get like this, its not good. It feels unfinished to say the least.

I enjoyed this quite a bit more than I thought I would.
It was a very intriging story.
I found myself torn between my own religious principals and outrage at the actions of the religious figureheads.
In the end I came to a choice which surprised me!
It is facinating to me how a mod in a game can be so thought provoking!
I would love there to be a sequel... I felt like the story has really just started when I reached the end. Like my choice was only the beginning...
I found no bugs, and thought it was a good mix of combat and puzzles.
The Racial skills were a great boon to the game.
If I wasn't so busy frantically running for my life or the life (or un-life) of someone else, I would have noticed that in-game commerce was minimal. (Not a con, just something I am not used to, but a very refreshing change!)
Fast pace and very profound! Simply amazing work! _________________________ Stupidity kills people.

Just press "enter" to bring up the "text-box" then write the following in it: ##DebugMode 1
You MUST have a SPACE between the "e" and the "1" for it to work.
This way you'll be seeing yellow squares on the floor in various places of this room. Just avoid these squares and you'll eventually manage to get to the exit. Both you AND Alanton have to avoid stepping on them.
Once you're done, repeat the above process but instead of typing "DebugMode 1", type "DebugMode 0", and you're done.
How are you supposed to get Alanton out of his prison? I can't go anywhere with him because one hit from a trap (which are everywhere) and he's dead.

Oh - forgot a couple of things. The various vampire-skills were handled very well as well. Awesome skills and they all felt very original and initutive.
Also I personlly liked the way the camera zooms in on an NPC when you start a conversation. Felt very original.

This is an awesome mature-horror mod. Certainly not for people below 18, if you ask me since it contains various scenes of blood, gore, sex,*bleep* etc. but that's all mentioned in the descripion.
As a horror-story, this mod does the cake very well. I'm used to horror but some scenes in this mod made even me feel very uneasy and disgusted, so applause to that skill even though I am not a fan of too extreme horror, like the lighthouse eremite for example. That's nothing I'd like to include in a horror work I make myself, since I find it too goddamn disturbring. :D Still, its fine when it's other people's work and I enjoyed getting a bit freaked out while playing your mod. :)
The story also have a very interesting perspective when it comes to religion vs. vampires. Who is really evil? The vampire who is driven by the need for blood simply to survive? Or the religious fanatic that kills anyone that stands in the way (even innocent ones) in order to be able kill a vampire? I think that was handled very well.
Its great to see that people are still downloading these mods. NWN and its toolset is a fantastic package and truly deserve to still be alive and kicking.
It took me almost a year to make this 4-6 hour adventure, and when I realised that it would take me twice that time to create something similar with nwn2, I kind of threw in the towel.
Anyway...
velkito:
I removed the pictures from most conversation windows because of the first-person dialogue script. Since the camera is placed really close to the face of the person youre speaking to, it looked kind of silly to have an additional picture of him or her, which didnt always look like that person anyway.
hmm, I got the module running, but any idea why all the NPC portraits are completely black?

A bit dark though, cinematic feels to the interactions give it a unique atmosphere.I really loved playing it.

A very atmospheric and dark module. The scripting was very impressive. It's a shame this won't become a series.

This is a good mod! Good vampire skills, good scenes, good atmosphere, good final.
Posted by Okgenuine at 2008-04-10 13:43:29 Voted 6.75 on 04/10/08
This is the best scripting I've ever seen by far. The gameplay is too unbalanced, imo. And the story gets too dark to be a fantasy, so there's no positive roleplaying. I wanted to be a vampire on the road to redemption.

Wow, totally enjoyable module with great atmosphere, beautiful cutscenes and bug free (that's really an achievement).
Unfortunately very short :(

Great story and atmosphere, scripting and visuals are way beyond of the most modules i played so far.
But: i think some potential hasn't been used (i don't want to call it 'wasted'). The story could have developed a bit slower (i think there is enough to be told), thus adding one or two hours of playtime. Especially some characters deserve "more" time, e.g. to tell their story . I would really like to hear the stories of Balthazar, the V guy and Saga (She disappeared way too fast). And i missed some conclusions from actions i've done, like what happened to the people in the lighthouse after the death of the old man. Or about the cruelty (or humanity) of my PC.
So its a 9.50 from me, considering als these thing. And i noticed a bug: i feeded from the ground in the sewers (i missed the rat with the cursor), getting some message like "you should'nt feast from these people, the could be infected" and my final death hehe _________________________ "Duty is everything - the greatest of joys, the deepest of sorrows..."

I absolutely loved playing this module.
There were hundreds of things I liked about it but the one thing that stands out most is the dark (adult) atmosphere.
But there were also a few things I didn't really like/understand:
SPOILERS
- I didn't get a reward from Sarpico
- I forced Salisa to pay me with her body while her sick daughter had to watch and didn't get an alignment shift
- all break-ins into citizens houses are pretty much the same.
- Every time after defeating your inner deamons after opium consumption you get 5000 XP. That way I ended up with a pretty powerfull lvl 17 Vamp. Although I think it's realistic to be this powerfull I would have preferred other ways of getting the XP
- you actually can make pretty easy money by begging. So the bartender is totally wrong
- Balthazar is too good-hearted and his explanations why you of all have to do the quests are pretty pathetic.
- The author seemed to have a lot planned for Saga (relationship with the character maybe?) but than decided to just get her killed.
- Why did I have to leave Alanton behind? He says "among friends - at last" and I have no other option other than just leaving him alone.
- There should be a different conversation with Monk Jeremiah in front of the building after killing Gregoro
- I would have liked the hunt for the vampire who killed and transformed me a litte bit harder/longer
- the story seemed a bit rushed in the end
- some npcs lack portraits
- what ever happened to Yashardo? He's my friend and Balthazar simply says he'll be fine.
- I would have liked to do something about the poor girls in the lighthouse. again it seemed the author had something planned there and never actually wrote it into the module.
-I would have liked more conversation options. Not even those that trigger different answers but just alternatives
- lack of skill use (especially "open lock" as an alternative to the mist power)
Nevertheless awesome work. Really looking forward to playing Part 2.

Great story. Loved both endings. I also like the special abilities. Very well thought out.
Something small...you misspelled Jermeiah's name (Jeremiha)in game. It would have been also nice to have vampiric regeneration, but that might have made the game easier. It was great overall.
