Description
This is a much revised and expanded version of my prior "The New Prelude", and maintains its underlying Christian worldview. You begin as an American war veteran suddenly in Faerun, and the adventures begin from there. There is much more than what the OC Prelude gives you in story, adventures, relationships, and module affecting choices. Ver 3.5.1 fixes bugs reported by players.
this game really needs to be wise-guy proofed. i mean if you mess up the order in anything it screws up the game. the first time in went to fern i went to veran's hideout before going to the mine and it messed up my whole game and everyone gave me conversations that made no sense at all at the point i was at. I had to restart the module and play the game again because it was so messed up. The second time i played through i talked to Ari and aribeth before getting attacked by that assassin. after i did i tried to talk to them about it but i had already given away the item i needed to talk to them so i just gave up and didnt play again. You are also way too powerful in this. you have freaking every ability at level one because of that equipment you give us. if you don't take the equipment you get killed by the things at the inn. The only reason im giving this a 4 and not a 1 is because the story was really good and had me going but i couldn't finish it because of these bugs...

Ugh... I am also stuck at the bug reportede in Liso66's last post: I can't get Aribeth to join me in the (A short time later you meet Aribeth in the) Front Hall. Is this supposed to be an auto-trigger or should I initiate the conversation? Initiating the conversation just causes the dialog to simply drop. Prancing around or simply waiting around doesn't auto-trigger anything. Is there a fix on the way? Up until this point, I have really enjoyed the mod.

Any progress? D _________________________ "In life, one and one don't make two. One and one make one." -The Who "Bargain"

I'm withholding my vote for now because I had similar trouble with bugs reported previously and you alredy said you're working on it. That said, I loved the mod. The story was very entertaining (loved thumping Desther into the post, too bad there's no animation for it!) and the idea was very unique for this game. I ran this as a first level paladin, as suggested, but as I played it occurred to me that I would have felt more into the story if I had started as a rogue and leveled as a paladin later. The rogue skills seem more along the lines of the commando background proposed and changing focus to developing as a paladin would add to the character development in the story (growing from physical soldier for country to spiritual soldier for God). This is just my feel for the story and how I will play the updated version. Can you give an estimated percentage of completion for the next chapter? Dave, Thank you for your appriciation. Am making good progress on the next chapter, which is looking like a 5 mod cluster. The main problem to date is that CH1 does not permit proper functioning of level 15 or above henchpersons, where there was no such problem with the prelude (Dilemma's base). I don't think anyone wants to have a level 4 Aribeth. _________________________ My dear friend C.S. I really enjoyed this module and I do hope you will have the next chapter available soon.

Overhaul of module addressing issues raised by Liso66 completed and being tested. The reported game-stopper relating to the conversation in the back hall has been extensively tested on two differnt machines running two versions of the game. The conversation has run properly every time. Version 3.6 will be submitted once testing satisfactorily completed. _________________________ My dear friend C.S. Liso66: Have made notes of your comments, will investigate, and will answer as noted in the e-mail I sent and hope you got. Some of these issues clearly need fixing in game; some are a mystery as neither I nor my 2 testers have been unable to complete the mod at the current level of development. What happened during construction is another story. Those mystery issues will take longer, as I need to have the problem happen to me so I can see exactly where things break, and what the circumstances are. There is a possibility some of the problems lie in the engine itself. This mod is a development of the original Prelude, written however long ago in whatever version existed at the time. My basic work was done in version 1.29, with finishing and detailing done in 1.63. I have found that some code is executed differently by different versions, not only in this module, but in development of the next project - Chapter 1. For instance, the scene where you rescue the druid from the false Helmite when you get into Neverwinter. In 1.29, the Helmite is always attacking the druid with his mace. In 1.63 he may be either using his mace, casting spells, or doing nothing except turn red when the mouse pointer is placed on him and then maybe attack someone. The variations are totally random, and I have yet to have the same one twice running in all the many test runs of the mod I have done. I have no idea why it happens, nor the ability (never mind access) to go into the base code and fix things. If random executin happens here, it could happen elsewhere. I would not knowingly submit a broken module, and will do everything I can to make it work right consistently. _________________________ My dear friend C.S. Possible Spoilers below I took the PP clue and un installed the previous download, re downloaded and installed again to see if it would help with buggy issues. Up to the point when my PC is supposed to join Aribeth in the hall after going to the stables and confronting Desthner and Fen. I can not get her to join me. I click on her and convo starts and ends when I agree to chat with her. The dialog just drops completely. I feel I have missed a lot of this mod and really wanted to give it another go. I can't seem to get passed the bug issues. I REALLY like the story and plot behind the mod. I REALLY would like to get through this mod with out having to figure out how to get Aribeth into my party. And lastly. I really would like if someone would answer! lol I've been checking back since my first post and no answers at all. Any help would be great Regards Liso _________________________ Michele O'Sullivan Ossian Forum Admin Link Liso NWNPodcast Staff Link
