Description
"Know, O Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars." - The Nemedian Chronicles.
Such half-legendary fragments are all that remain to tell of the Hyborian Age and its greatest hero, Conan. You can relive these tales as Conan, or as a hero of your own design, following your career from its beginning as a youth among the Aesir, to your eventual rise to claim the throne of Aquilonia, the most powerful Hyborian kingdom.
"Legions of the Dead" describes the first recorded exploits of the young Conan, when as a youth of sixteen summers he fled his home in Cimmeria to join with a band of Northern barbarians in the frigid land of Asgard. The original short story was written by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter, based of course on the collection of Conan stories by Robert E Howard. It pre-dates the more well-known "Tower of the Elephant" which is, taking the chronology of Conan's career, the first Howard story. The fact that "Legions" deals with a very inexperienced Conan, and the fact that the story is less well known, makes it a good start for a chronology.
Please use my music hakpak, samples of the original score for the Conan films by Basil Poledorus, unless you are desperately hard up on download time.
Final Version 1.03
This final version corrects some minor issues and includes a new 11 race Hyborian subrace system.
Can't fault it, I really can't. Intuitive, interesting, challening and deeply moving at the end. Only one thing to say - *please* put a map pin to the place you have to go to complete the Rite of the Aesir. It took me 25 mins to find it >.

A module my entire family enjoyed. Great story adaptation, allows multiple approaches to play so you can either sneak around more or bash through more. Great entertainment, nice animations that add to the storyline.

Great module. Loved it, even the ending! Great atmosphere.

This is a fantastic module that excels in pretty much every area: great story, excellent dialogue, challenging but well-balanced combat, great atmosphere, and truly fantastic use of music. I also liked the opening where you get to customize your character by picking a background. All in all, it makes for an incredibly immersive module that really draws you in. It's just a shame that there doesn't appear to be a sequel forthcoming.

I'll not repeat what others have said, but I concur that this is one of the best modules I have played. Only minor problem I saw was that Old Grim and the Jarl got confused about my characters gender a few times. Also... . . . SPOILER . . . My character was given the chance to walk away at certain points (though it did not try - maybe not really an option?). Perhaps it would be appropriate to allow that after the Jarl's daughter is delivered? If my character enters the conversation with the Jarl after leaving the castle, getting dragged along to the final battle is obligatory. That's quibbling, though, and I realize it. Overall, truly top notch and fun module. _________________________ flatrat Taking under is an undertaking undertaken by an undertaker.

A truely wonderful module that left me craving more, Robert E Howard himself would be proud! Whilst the module its self is pretty small, everything about it oozes quality. The storyline and dialogue are top notch, and the game itself is perfectly balanced, it provides a good challenge whilst not being too difficult or easy. One aspect of the module I really loved though was the music (I was already a big fan of Basilis Poledouris's music), the author of the module did an excellent job of implementing the original sound track from the Conan movies into the game, and it really sets the mood and gives it that 'Conan feel'. I did encounter a couple of bugs on my play through, but nothing game breaking that will lower your enjoyment of the mod, there is a good chance you wont even notice them. Overall it was an excellent job, and obviously a labour of love, I cant wait to play future chapters. Now I'm off to try out the authors other modules, if they are as good as this one then I'm in for a treat lol.

One of the best modules I've played. A bit short, but I'll take quality over quantity any time. The music was great. The combat was well-balanced and the story was fun. I'd love to play more Conan stories. What a great mythology to exploit. May Crom guide your hand for a quick release of Chapter II! Thank you.

This is excellent! Well written, well paced, it is tense and true to de Camp and Carter's story - Best module I've played by a country mile. Look forward to chapter two!
