Description
[v.2.4] Requires: NWN1.69+SoU+HotU
Although this is called a 'prelude', it's meant to be played after "Angel Falls" (but that's a recommendation, not a hard requirement). It's also meant to be played with a different character, since it takes place 100 years before the events in "Angel Falls" and it's geared for around 10th level.
INTRO: "After your party had an unfortunate encounter with a lich you were killed. They brought you to the Alabaster Temple of The Way for ressurection, but after learning of the exorbitant fee that Cardinal Abernathy charged for such a service, they took your gold and left your body there."
I?ve gone through the module and, unfortunately, I must say I am somewhat disappointed. Not that it?s not good, but it seems it needs a little more work. Specifically 1. It needs some testing in order to overcome a few minor bugs and inconsistencies 2. The dialogue should be more developed 3. The combat is too hard. Let me explain. SPOILERS 1. There at least two occasions which, while not necessary technical bugs, they look inconsistent. First the sorcerer kept repeating the initial dialogue, in spite of the fact that I agreed to help. Perhaps the cause is that I first visited Lilith and considered her offer? Second when I tried to finish the module using the choice ?I have some unfinished business with a lich?, instead of visiting the lich, as I expected, I got a cutscene where the camera moved and hid my character behind a tree. Then he was killed by some meteors and afterwards I saw the bishop talking to Lillian about founding Angel Falls (?!?) In addition I think that giving the player the choice to leave so early can make him or her overlook a lot of secrets lurking in this module. Anyway, my point is that (for the first time, probably), you missed a few things and you should go through the testing again. 2. I was disappointed to find out that some interesting characters, like the bard or the gypsy, had no role in the story. Considering that this module is related to Angel Falls, I expected a mystery of some kind (an expectation reinforced by the fact I could ask Helena?s opinion about others, just like the Quartermaster of Angel Falls). Unfortunately, they look more like an effect to give some depth to the village. I?d love to see these characters develop, and probably get involved in a mystery or quest of some kind. Moreover, it should be a good idea to give the player more insight or emphasis related to Angel Falls (for example, I'd like to know where Lilly came from). 3. My level 9 rogue/level 1 shadowdancer had great difficulty in certain combats. First of all, there was no way I could even scratch the monstrous incest in Candyland. In addition, I was barely able to take down the golem, and that?s only because I used the acid vial. Unless I missed a trick, it becomes invulnerable to almost any kind of attack as soon it is hit by it. Considering it regenerates, my sneaky rogue and his ice/fire arrows and rapier weren?t enough. If there is a trick, at least you should give a hint. By the way I think the same is true about the first test, where it?s practically impossible to get the full bonus. A short note stating something like ?It all began with earth... nature favourites the opposites? should help a lot. 4. And a minor point. I believe that in your walkthrough you should also mention some secrets like the use of the magic beans or the golden goose. END OF SPOILERS I think that with a little extra effort, Angel Falls Prelude will become a very good module, and I encourage you to do so. I?m not voting yet, for it would be unfair to do so now, but I?ll eagerly wait for your updates to replay an improved version.

Aaahh... game breaking bug found... a shame... MINOR SPOILERS Actually it's the some bug reported by Randalish, DerekJeter etc. The dialogue with Lillian doesn?t start at all - she remains silent no matter what you try. Fortunately I?ve not completely forgotten how to script and I think I managed to find a solution and keep playing. It seems that the bug was caused by the come here, go there script functions that (should) initiate the dialogue, though I can?t understand how they make any conversation impossible. Anyway, it was fine after I removed the last lines of the script, though this way the dialogue doesn?t start automatically. In addition, I found out that Lillian doesn?t work well as a henchman. For some reason she doesn?t hear any verbal command (stand here, attack etc.) and simply keeps following and attack. I can?t check her inventory either. Thus she?s too vulnerable since the player can?t use any tactics with her. I?m using the latest version, 1.3b. END OF SPOILERS Other than this it seems that?s another great work from you. I am especially fond of the visual atmosphere and the music. I?ll be back with more comments after I complete it.

Actually it's my first post on the nwvault boards (after years of downloading activity :) ) and I never thought it'd start this way, but still... Just started your module, version 1.3b, newly created character, no CEP or other HAKs/overrides. Unfortunately, Sister Lillian is still silent: same bug as reported by DerekJeter, DrMcCoy and others. Angel Falls is one of the most suspenseful modules on the vault, it'd be a pity if it's prequel will suffer from bugs like that.

Another solid effort from thegeorge. Some weirdness, some mystery, some nice cutscenes. I did have some problems with repetitive combats in one area and often found myself wishing that some of the NPCs had more to say.

Have you tried the latest version (1.3b)? I've been trying to fix the conversation thing, which is tricky since it always works for me.

When I started I needed to level up because I only used a level 1 char. And I saw all the colors you brought into play with the scrolls, etc. The temple was great, very colorful, and I really like the inventory ghosting when selecting something. Impressive. But, now the game, after leaving the temple the first time it was so dark and overly foggy, I don't understand, you don't want people to see the trees and other items you place on a screen then why populate it with anything? Ok, seriously, this my not be your doing, it could be my monitor, so I continued. Going into Blighted Wood is so severely green it was hard to see the outline of anything else, unless of course I tabbed (which isn't very realistic if that's what your trying to accomplish, either massive tabbing or massive green). Anyway, I guess I was luckier than most because Lillian came up to me, and currently we have made our way into a dwarven mine (Lillian by the way is only white talk but is joined as a henchie) but since all the dwarven miners are all red for no understandable reason, I saved, quit, and came back to read what has happened to others. When I tried to go in a second time, Lillian did not talk at all, even going into the waterfall area, she didn't come along, never joined or talked. Are the dwarves supposed to be red? If so, why? Is Lillian only white talk after the green screen? How can I tell her I'm supposed to save her? *smile* I have played a few of your mods, and liked them, I am not trying to sound harsh, I just don't know if I'm at a spot where I can continue or if I need to start over. Thank you. _________________________ Does this armor make my butt look big?

Hmmm...thought I fixed that, still doesn't seem to work for everyone apparently.

I can confirm that no conversation initiates with Sister Lillian (using version 1.3). Then DebugMode workaround works, though.
