Templar power has grown beyond recognition, as they vie with Masons, Kings, witches and smugglers to control the destiny of the Island of Varota. Will you rise above the intrigues, escape from the living hell of Guano Bay and dare the eldritch depths of Faywood to unlock the secret of the fabled Nympheroticon?
The Royal Family pursues dynastic marriage as a palliative to their dwindling power and a rising tide of heresy. The medieval landscape is transformed by the invention of banking and gunpowder.
As these mundane matters come to a head, an esoteric conspiracy of alchemists seeks the Elixir of Life by opening breaches in reality itself - and who knows what will come through the Gate?
Pit your wits against Schrödinger's Cat, Pavlov's Dog, Maxwell's Demon and many others.
With old friends and new companions, romance, death and taxes are always just around the corner.
ADULT CONTENT WARNING
If easily offended by explicit language, nudity, cartoon violence, fantasy magic or fictional religions, this is not for you. May you live in peace, and allow others to do likewise.
IMPORTANT - WHICH VERSION?
1.69 users are advised to download the latest version of the module and hakpaks.
THE VERSIONS ON THIS PAGE ARE OUT-OF-DATE AND UNSUPPORTED.
If you do decide to download these obsolete versions, be sure to download the right hakpak - Enigma2 for the 1.68 version 1.01, Enigma3 for the 1.69 version 1.02 (ACAG102 is required in both cases).
HORSE TUTORIAL
There is a tutorial and FAQ for horses at the 1.69 Riding Academy. Enigma Island assumes that you're familiar with that material, though it provides a simpler interface that you'll probable use most of the time.
COMPATIBILITY
It's advisable to move all custom content out of your override folder while playing Enigma Island.
There are known issues with "Necromancy 101" and "Tony K's Henchman AI". It's very likely that other custom extensions will cause problems, too.
I understand that the 1.69 version works with PRC, but this is not supported.
SERIES STATUS
It's not essential to play Part 1 first, though you might prefer to do so, for more background.
@Steve_Savicki - the Read Me explicitly warns you about the item strip, and that breaking conversations can break the game. If you can't accept that, don't play.

-.5 for 9.5: Again, item strip and unusable character profile.
9.5/2 = 4.75: Error made killing the head person easy enough to create the portal and get to end game immediately. I think this is a bug the author needs to fix. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
My latest work for NWN and Dragon Age (Origins) is at proleric.com. I just posted an update on the NWVault situation there, too.

Easily one of the best MODS I have played! Great addition to the first one!Nit picks if I have any are minor!

It's a shame to see quality authors such as yourself leave because of this sort of thing... I don't blame you at all for leaving, it's just a shame to see you go. This series is one of my all-time favorites for NWN, and all three parts are extraordinary.

Why? part 3 of Engima Island has not been posted here?
I want to rate a 10 for Chapter 3!

Wonderful module.
Truly. I believe I played it all the way with a smile on my face.
Technically brilliant, to the point you don't even see, or worse feel it. It simply flows as a river.
A river full of jewels, tricks, ideas, imagination, history and stories, strong political behaviour, sarcasm, but tenderness.
The rhythm itself is amazing. One surprise after an other. No rest here. Enjoyment all the way. Enjoyment going up even 'till the end.
I won't say much more as I don't wanna spoil anything. Really.
But for those who like crazy modules, crazy as the most respectful compliment to any decent human being, modules used by the author to express all of his freedom and sparks, this module is to be played.
I mean it.
A beautiful work but a firework. 14th of July all the way.
And a very truly interesting goal to. Freedom.
I'm going to far already.
Did I forget to say even the girls are beautiful in it?
All of them.
Just like in real life.
As crazy nuts as it is, I found this module very... real.
Human.
Warm.
Thanks Bob, for going nuts and, even better, sharing it with us.
We need guys like you around.
Now my problem is, am I able to wait 'till the final EI 3 gets released.
Soon I heard... ;-)

It seems I'm a little stuck - I can't find the Mason Word to follow Sir Roger. What is it or how do I find it?

Word on the street is that Proleric is working on EI3. Check out his website for info... :) _________________________ The less you know, the more you believe.

At least Enigma Island part 2 doesn't leave you hanging like some of the unfinished modules. You have a happy ending to the who sorid affair, getting the estate back, a marriage if your so inclined. Yes theirs a storm brewing just over the horizon but the things you set out to do are done.
the only sad thing is there won't be any more modules by Proleric.

So, there'll be no part 3, eh? Another great series left unfinished. Great... not. Yet there can be no complaining, after all the creators of these fine mods owe us nothing. Still, it's a sad thing.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments, here and elsewhere. Please let's not say any more about my reasons for leaving the NWN Community. I don't want to be the cause of any more unhappiness. I will continue to monitor the Enigma Island pages, in case anyone needs my help.

Tear32 I think it's this Project Q lark that has
caused stress on Proleric.
It seems that we have yet another unfinished Series, and this is one of the top ones.
It's such a shame.
I do hope that Proleric does give this Project Q the finger and finishes the series.
Being named in the Files doesn't seem enough for some people anymore.
What a Community Spirit. _________________________ Dalethfc

Enigma Island Part 3 is postponed indefinitely. Why I really liked your mods. I hope everything is ok.

Hi Proleric.
Thank you for this very beautifull work.
Just one or two remarks :
The variable jt_merry seems not being updated but is used on conversations (Rosa Bratik, Mavis, Sir Constatine, object merrychest in bh_openobject...
There is a level 6 possible with not defined use. May be relayed by gold_dragon ? I am still playing and restarted from the beginning so far.
Is it normal ?
Just to be absolutely perfect : There are some rooms or supposed to be so with no bed, fountain, table, couch or chair, shelves for books not speaking of bucket of piss... Forgive me.
PS : The sex scenes are from me (Module "Quand Sapho lit sa folie aux faux lits" and its translation "Miss Jones spirit") includind in "A dance with the rogues 2".

Finished,, excellent Mod, though,, a little fun as a lord would have been nice,, espc when the maid wanted a good night ;p
But I loved it all the same,, part 3 please :D _________________________ Dalethfc
RentACop - Part 3 will indeed allow you to create your character history without playing the earlier modules. The list of questions has got a bit long after Part 2, so for those who want a fast track, there will also be a choice of two default legends.
You'll be able to say who you married (if anyone), so the adventure can continue with your partner.
As you might have gleaned from the trailer (see Part 1 comment 2008-10-10), as Lord / Lady Andersham you will be able to spend a little more time on your estate, though you'll also see a lot more of the wide world than before.
There are six new companions (in addition to old favourites) so I'll have to see how much more interaction I can write!
Posted by RentACop at 2009-01-01 23:50:30 Voted 10.00 on 01/01/09
Question first, and then reviewish. So, will part 3 have another one of those conversations that lets the player pick what they did in the previous module? Because those are excellent, it's nice to be able to play through a module with a different character and not have to go through every previous one.
*Spoiler Zone*
Anyway, I loved the political intruigue, you managed to make the various factions/nations/religions pretty believeable despite all the different influences (king arthur et al). Silly enough, I found myself resenting Sir Roger more for taking my focus off the "real" action and onto his armageddon plot than for the whole "wrongful torture and imprisonment" thing.
Speaking of which, I was a bit dissapointed that we only get a few moments to enjoy being a minor lord before it hits the fans, though considering the scope of NWN I guess that's to be expected.
Nitpick wise, I would've liked more henchmen interaction, though you've got a decent level. Also, Sir Roger is pretty over-the-top psychotic which I don't know was really neccesary. I'd say as far as nwn mods go this is a 9.75ish, so I'm voting higher to sway the average a miniscule bit.

This module was a great follow up to the first one. Enjoyed the day/night cycle. Possibilities to use horses were rather minimal until late in the game. Did not like the item strip, however, given the plot and the situation, it was appropriate. No doubt the Templars looted the castle armoury while in residence. Am definitely looking forward to Part 3.
gruedragon - Thanks for explaining. Dex-based Rogue works fine, but I can see the problem you'd have with Str-based. SPOILER:
In that situation, I'd use the Pipes of Binding as soon as I was through the door, then have breakfast while Robin does the deed with Strongbow. Boring but effective.
The next update will be concurrent with Part 3. I don't guarantee that everything you mentioned will be different - in particular, day/night. My approach to that is to check the journals to see if there's anything else I can do before sleeping - that way I don't have to sleep very often. The shortcuts are set up so you can get to bed quickly.
