"What is a man,
With claws on his hand,
SPLAT."
- Van Eisen
Seiji returns to Bast to find that the clawed man has attacked Mt. Sheckim and Azura has fled into the wilds of the Brass Empire. Seiji must find her and escape the clawed man. He must then draw upon all of his allies to unravel the mystery of Azura. But such mysteries are perilous and will bring Seiji to the very steps of a legend.

Vis et Virtus is not a normal Neverwinter Nights module, nor is it intended to be. It is, by design, a mostly linear adventure with a heavy emphasis on story and character development. It was designed to be a fusion of game genres combining elements from traditional Japanese console RPG games like Final Fantasy, with computer RPGs like NWN, along with devices that are unique to VeV.
If you are looking for a game that uses a non-linear approach with lots of dialogue options through which you can create a character of your choosing, featuring standard NWN systems, I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of excellent games out there that do an excellent job of this. I would also encourage you to look elsewhere if you don't have the time to allow the story and characters to develop. Like a great novel, the story gets better as it goes, and many questions remain unanswered until later in the series. In the beginning, you will not know the full history of each of the characters nor have a full understanding of their motivations, but over the course of the game these elements will become apparent. Finally, in order to add to the depth of the characters, Vis et Virtus uses pregenerated characters. If you are uninterested in games involving pregenerated characters, please do not waste your time downloading VeV.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a game with a truly epic story, strategic battles, engaging party members, unique systems and stunning custom content that make you feel like you're playing an entirely different game, you will enjoy Vis et Virtus.
If you are still uncertain as to whether Vis et Virtus is the sort of gaming experience you like, I encourage you to read our reviews. QSW and the Vault Review Team have written excellent, detailed reviews of the last three chapters of VeV which will likely give you a good idea of what to expect. You can find them at Link, Link, and Link.

The way that this story is presented is like no other game out there. It is almost like a movie at times. Probably half time spent on this chapter was breaking out the popcorn and enjoying the fantastic cutscenes that give insight to the character's past and their current motives. The story continues to blossom into the epic adventure that this series has earned a well deserved reputation for. The masterful writing that guides the player through a world of increasing hostilities and a determined clawed enemy who leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes, uses a brilliant blend of wit, humor, and dark overtones. The presentation of this darkening world is perfectly shown with cutscenes that the creators of the Neverwinter Campaigns would be envious of. Despite the limited gameplay compared to earlier chapters, the game was even more enjoyable as the story became clearer. The limited running around and fighting still matches the best that the vault and most games can offer. One thing that the player starts to experience in this chapter is custom special moves. Typically, after level 20, continuing to level in one class has very limited benefits, however, in this game, the author has included special post-level 20 special moves that greatly reward the player for continuing in the path of a monk. Overall, a magnificent story that is portrayed in a masterful way with a plethora of custom material. Truly unlike any other game on the vault.

You're welcome - you spent much more time making and recreating the mod I'm playing for free, so this is the least I can do. I think most of your "on enter"-scripts fire every time I enter a map through loading. When I load a map with an "autosave on enter", it will autosave right after loading. This is the first instance where this behaviour causes a problem. - Libita/Kristian _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Libita, thanks again for taking the time to write your thoughts on the module and for reporting the bug with Shadow Seiji. I'll look into fixing it as soon as possible. Jim

Compared to the last chapter, this one was more serious. The main difference for me was getting a bulk of background exposition, which is always good in this series, and Van Eisen. He had barely turned up and already brought a smile on my face ("I keep him because I'm a*bleep*"). I also hit the first custom epic abilities duing this chapter. And the balance is formidable most of the time. The changes to the mod, at least those I noticed, were very good. The author has a talent for dealing with and listening to his fans. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Some notes on my recent runthrough: - The bloodhound rings were very helpful in finding the doors. You seem to have a knack of adding helpful items to circumvent most of the problems. - The chase scene wasn't as exhilarating the second time once I noticed that I am nearly twice as fast as him. Though being caught still scared me quite a bit. And that's most likely because I anticipated it. - Most of the puzzles were trivial. They made for a change of pace, but weren't enough to get my brain heated up. Fine with me, as I'm not a puzzle fan anyway. - SPOILERS "Shadow Seiji" seems to be bugged. I had to reload after my first go at him, which triggered the cutscene a second time and created a second Seiji who fought against the first. When he died, the dream ended. END SPOILERS The atmosphere is still great. And Van Eisen is always a plus. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

It never occurred to me this might be the final cutscene of the module. Kudos for replying so fast! :o

If you do have chapter 5 installed and this is occurring, please email me your saved game at PailithStudios@gmail.com. Having a saved game will allow me to more quickly and accurately diagnose and fix the problem. Thanks, Jim

Do you have chapter 5 installed? That is indeed the final cutscene of the chapter and in fact the end of the final scene.
