Description
The story unfolds upon the remote island known as, "Isla Finola", just off the south shores of Gavol. From there, the adventure takes place inside of Lord Jharol's Castle. You had wandered into the City of Gavol looking for work or pleasure, but instead, you decided to jump aboard a merchant ship heading to the castle to deliver supplies. You have no memory after boarding the ship, and you awake within the castle where it all begins.
Lord Jharol's father had built the castle allowing both schools, one of combat and one of magic, to be open to the public. Citizens of Gavol and other outlying areas would come to train, but not all who came had the same intent. Arriving to the castle as a stowaway, you stumble upon a sinister turn of events thus leading you into your adventure.
---------------------
- Multiple quests
- 17 areas to explore
- 21,000 words of dialogue
- Complete story history and lore
- No hakpaks required
- Custom creatures and items
- Not forced to begin lvl 1, but strongly suggested and highly recommended for the best challenge
- Chapter two is in the works, be patient, HAVE FUN, and enjoy!!
Oh, I forgot to mention that you really should put some form of re-spawn penalty in the mod. Just a suggestion.

Played a Sorcerer (ended lvl 9) and had a good run. Great story, nicely put together, no bugs. I echo HMDai's comments below especially about the long walks esp. from the caverns. While not really needing a walk through, I wish I had finished all the outdoor stuff before venturing into the underground areas. Adding a more definitive ending after talking to the Lord while also giving the option to export your character would be a nice addition too. Thanks for the hard work making this, and I do look forward to Chapt. 2.

I just completed. Good fights and areas. Some very challenging fights to say, but had to adventure in other directions and come back. Will check back for sequel. Thanks for the build.

hmdai, Thanks for the comments and the vote. I'm already incorporating a teleport system into Chapter 2. Glad you finished and no bugs. _________________________ Current Modules - The Dark Ruins of Jharol

I have finished the module and I put my two cents here: Pros: - Nice background story. - The visual effects are put into good use. - Challenging combat (for most of the enemies) Cons: - Overly large area. The players need to run back and forth to talk to the NPCs. This is a put-off to the players. - One of the enemy, the children of darkness, is too difficult to combat. I only realize I need to purchase "The ring of elemental resistance" when I encounter her. _________________________ Overlooked Module Report February 2009 | Master List | Forum Thread Academy of Modding Excellence Romance Module List Horror Module Collection Starlight's favorite module list

Koleama, Thank you for the comments and the vote and I'm glad that you enjoyed. Chapter 2 is moving right along. It will probably be a couple of months yet. Until then....Blitz. _________________________ Current Modules - The Dark Ruins of Jharol

Hi! I just finished your module and I would like to share. PROS - I thought the layout was very well done. There was alot of time spent with the placeables and each area has a unique feel to it. - I really enjoyed the story line. Without giving away too much, your concept of the invasion leaves the next part wide open, which I like, and can't wait for. - The books were awesome. For being your first module, it grasped me right from the start. There wasn't a time that I felt it was becoming boring, I wanted to finish it as soon as I could. - No bugs. But I do have to agree on some of the others' comments. CONS - Traveling. I believe that traveling is a part of the adventure. I did have to hoof it occasionally from area to area a few times. This is not taken from the score, as I was able to appreciate the layout in doing so. - No respawns. I enjoy the randomness of encounters, and there were a few. I had expected more, but that's just what I like. Overall, I enjoyed. I have read other comments and it sounds like chapter 2 will be like this one times 10. I will check back for the release. Thanks for the adventure! K.

Hagaar, First, thank you for playing, the vote, and the comments as I welcome all opinions. Some improvements have been made since the version you played. I am not by any means an expert in the area of scripting, nor did I have the adequate time to resource. But I am learning, and have been gathering everyone's input to incorporate those ideas into Chapter 2. So, with that said, I will take into consideration some of your suggestions and either make an update to the current, or apply them into the next. (I am preferring the second option to keep myself moving forward on the new release)! Thanks again....Blitz. _________________________ Current Modules - The Dark Ruins of Jharol

Blitz74: Just finished the game and I have a few quibbles to lay before you. ***SOME SPOILERS*** 1. The Assassins: It would be nice if you could script in some sort of counter when it comes to dealing with these guys. I had to retrace my steps a few times before I was certain I got them all. 2. In the Caverns: Why for how come you place traps that cannot be disarmed? If a Player uses a Rogue (which I did) for the game, then they should be disarmable. As it was, I had to side-step then. 3. For a Castle that has been overrun, and IF, as stated by Hazen (sp?) he managed to lock off certain areas, then there should have been a few more survivors. 4. I found a few minor spelling errors but they DIDN'T detract from the story. 5. I have to agree with one Poster concerning the use of a Greenhorn when it was rather obvious that there were BETTER people to do the job. 6. (BIGGIE here)If a player uses a fresh 1st level character and they literally begin tripping over dead then why wasn't there any "lootable" corpses? I chose to use a higher level one WITH gear, so as I began finding my way around the place and running into Assassins... What do I use? Spitballs?? Also, When I finished the game the Racks and Chests had next to zip in them. For a guy that just had his castle restored, and, presumably had/has resources available, he certainly didn't give you a whole helluva lot to choose from! MY thought was: "Why the cheap bastard!!" 7. Gold and XP were so-so. Some chests had 15 gp whilst others have nearly 4000! Gear could have been a lot better. 8. Not much in the way of a storyline but what I did find was ok. Now for the GOOD Stuff: The layout of each area was well done and well though out! Same for the encounters but you could have had more unless this lot was nothing more than a "Raiding Party". But still could have had more encounters inside the castle areas that they "controlled". By the by. The version I played was one I DL'd a couple of weeks back so I am not certain if you've made any corrections to any you uploaded. A final comment. At the END, you might consider having one of the characters, possibly Hazen, state that this is the end of this part and to simply save the game at this point if the story is to continue from this point. All in all, I enjoyed the game and look forward to the next part. _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant. Benjamin Franklin
