"I am waiting for you. Compare our works. Your efforts are like to the skittering of roaches against my grand design. I have no fear of you. Test yourselves against my destiny and through steel, sorcery and blood will the truth of the world be unfurled. I am waiting for you."
- Amaryuu
With little hope, the heroes search among the blasted ruins of the Five Realms. They shall search out the last secrets of the old world for a scant chance to change the new. Many such secrets reside within the heroes themselves. From here, there is no set path. There are secrets to find, alliances to build and betrayals to be endured. And all the while, Amaryuu glowers down from his throne, horrible in victory, and awaiting the last meager strike against his total triumph.

Vis et Virtus is not a normal Neverwinter Nights module, nor is it intended to be. It is, by design, a mostly linear adventure with a heavy emphasis on story and character development. It was designed to be a fusion of game genres combining elements from traditional Japanese console RPG games like Final Fantasy, with computer RPGs like NWN, along with devices that are unique to VeV.
If you are looking for a game that uses a non-linear approach with lots of dialogue options through which you can create a character of your choosing, featuring standard NWN systems, I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of excellent games out there that do an excellent job of this. I would also encourage you to look elsewhere if you don't have the time to allow the story and characters to develop. Like a great novel, the story gets better as it goes, and many questions remain unanswered until later in the series. In the beginning, you will not know the full history of each of the characters nor have a full understanding of their motivations, but over the course of the game these elements will become apparent. Finally, in order to add to the depth of the characters, Vis et Virtus uses pregenerated characters. If you are uninterested in games involving pregenerated characters, please do not waste your time downloading VeV.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a game with a truly epic story, strategic battles, engaging party members, unique systems and stunning custom content that make you feel like you're playing an entirely different game, you will enjoy Vis et Virtus.
If you are still uncertain as to whether Vis et Virtus is the sort of gaming experience you like, I encourage you to read our reviews. QSW and the Vault Review Team have written excellent, detailed reviews of the last three chapters of VeV which will likely give you a good idea of what to expect. You can find them at Link, Link, and Link.

Indeed. It's a little far to travel on a semi weekly basis. Wing Tsun and Escrima are great arts though. Gotta love any martial art that has "scream" in the name! Jim

Oh geez, yeah, I remember and see that in an earlier post, you mentioned planning this. I now do a bit of martial arts, too, Wing Tsun and a bit Escrima on the side. Though I doubt you'll see me in your studio, being on different continents and such. :) _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Good to hear from you. Huh, you're right about the website. 110mb.com has become increasingly unstable over the last few years. Might have to start looking for a different host for the website. Anyhow, seeing as a reasonable number of people have played through the beta and not one has mentioned a bug, I'll probably move it to final soon. I'm opening a martial arts studio next month in Phoenix, MD. Jim

Again, you remake faster than I can forget enough for my next run. I will be saving this next version on my hd soon, just in case. Right now, I am unable to access your website. Is that just me or is there anything wrong? Oh, and would you mind sharing what kind of business you're opening? _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Life has been super busy lately, but I'm getting extremely close to finishing off Chapter 8. I'm hoping to put on the final touches next weekend, so hopefully it will be up sometime around then. Jim

#Yeah, that makes sense. Well, most of them don't seem to reach the later chapters, though. And good to see you don't let them stop you. :) _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

I can't speak for the rest of the vault, but I've been getting them for the past year or so. I suspect it was in relation to either the mods getting in the HOF or getting placed on the Top Rated Mods. I spent a lot of time reporting them each time, and BeyondThePale is great at zapping them quickly, but I simply don't have the time to stay on top of it anymore.

Oh, and I just noticed that the latest Prophet release is also being troll voted, so it's not just your series. Strange, I can't recall seeing many troll votes when there were more new mods. Is this a recent phenomenon? _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

Heh, it's still more than I would have expected, from what I know of other authors (or myself). But before _I_ ramble too much, I think I have already said everything regarding your motivation and attitude to work in my reviews. :) Thanks a lot. I see that you're in need for playtesters, though I won't be able to help for quite some time, sadly. Have to get some RL issues out of the way that are pretty hard to tackle. I will keep a close eye on your mods, though, so I won't miss anything. And if you're still working on this when I am finished (will take some months, though...), then I'd be happy to participate. _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud
