The hunt continues as the drow advance into the uppermost parts of the underdark. There are new foes, new creatures and new opponents. Will they reach their destination?

This six-part series is just as good consistently as Bob's "Infernal Crown"... will Mark keep up the quality? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Ok so far I have really enjoyed these for the mere fact they allow me to FINALLY play an evil role... BUT now I sadly have to say Im dissapointed in this chapter... The story is fine but the balance is way off & the subraces code is annoying... ditch it or replace it with something more functional... Considering that the ability increases for drow are no longer present I would say its not working anyways so getting rid of it would be a good option... It also causes your PC to become uncommandable every time you fight & reload a saved game... Since Im already half way though I couldnt fix the saved game... but ditching the broken subraces code fixes the problem there...
The poison gas should completely dissapear once you remove the device... This is misleading to state you removed it and the gas is still present... I spent hours trying to figure out how to get rid of it and it cannot be done... only partially... so I consider this a bug...
On the subject of SetCommandable... And yes Im fairly new to the toolset but not to programming... This is a bad command to even exist to be honest... And will break the entire game is used improperly & without caution... I personally never use it for that reason alone... And if you do use it... Use it for cut-scenes only... Nothing else...
All in all I do enjoy what you have done here but the bugs make the enjoyment rather limited & should have been tested better before it went public... Im sorry I have to vote low on this one...
I've got the same problem as millhanna. I can't attack the surface adventurers due to PvP settings. My knowledge of the toolset is very limited, so can anybody here tell me how to fix that?
Thanks!

Interesting plot.
Spider Lair - too many, I eventually just escaped from them. More puzzles. Rogue skills a definate plus.
thanks,
cappie
btw, I don't have what it takes to be evil because I left those adventurers alone.

Felt like this one picked up a bit after Chapter 2, offering a more non-linear style of play, multiple small quests instead of one big one, and a lot more variety in the encounters. More so than the last two, this is the module where I felt like I got to really look around the Underdark, and I was really immersed in the feeling that I was wandering around through miles of lost tunnels. I especially enjoyed the encounter with the adventurers. It was fun to see it from the other side, particularly since this had to be one of the most naive groups of adventurers around. I also liked collecting their loot.
There were some drawbacks though. Most of the fights were relatively easy for my Wizard/Rogue, but the battle with the wizard guarding the maze and also with the Drow wizard were tough, especially the latter. I only got beat him when I figured out that A) I had to skip initiating dialogue and just attack and B) That I had to use knockdown on him right off the bat. Once he got his spells up, it was pretty much hopeless. Also, while I was glad to finally find another merchant, I was disappointed by his lack of stock and by the fact that he ran out of cash so quickly, as I had become sick of lugging so much stuff around. Also, it seems weird that a Beholder would even deal with my character, much less set up shop as a sort of trader.

One of the best series in the vault. The best I have played so far. Better than the BG series IMO, thanks to the Author for his effort and the many hours of fun he has provided me with

This is an excellent mod for people playing evil characters who don't like to play evil characters. I was leery as I started the first module but the storyline is intriguing enough to keep me playing despite the fact I don't enjoy playing evil. Spoiler question below:
Should I have killed the good adventurers I ran into in the caverns?

The surface nears ... as with the preciding chapters: well done, lots of fun & high replayability ... though I still miss a difference by classes & gender in textes & (sub-) quests. The player experiences the progression of the author's skills when playing the different chapters. Recommendable mod series. _________________________ "If it had been the Captain doing it, the cat would be lost, the tree burned down, and the old lady would be traveling with us now." - S.J.
It took me this long to figure out I had a problem -- I'm only and elf but not a drow. I didn't realize that there was much difference in the game or that you'd implemented drow abilities... until I peeked at the walk-through. I talked to a certain Goddess and left with no powers. Is there any way to either change my race to add the sub or get the powers?

POssible bug? Attempting various reloads and such.
SPOILER WARNING
So I got those pesky surface adventurers to kill the bugbears. But now I can't attack the surface dwellers (PvP friendliness and all that). I've played through this mod before and had no problems but I have a different system now and this time I'm playing with cheats (it's fun to just pound on things when you've already beat a game, heh).
I'm sure I'll figure it out on my own but I thought I'd warn others. If anyone else has encountered this same problem, feel free to let me know how you solved it. Great series of mods.
In anycase

Loving this series!!! BUT...a little bit more in the way of clues for the puzzles would be great. There are several that I had to go to the walkthrough on because there simply wasn't enough "in-game" info to help solve them.
That being said, this is a terrific third part to the series.
I am playing a Wizard/Pale Master and am finding really good balance. Many mods are near impossible for the "weaker" Classes but while AHTD is a challange for a non-fighter class, it is very playable.

Hi there,
Markus, thanks for writing these modules, I'm enjoying them although as a wizard they are tough. However I believe there is a fault with the secret door detection in them. I could find neither the illithid secret door nor the teleporter secret door. I have had the module open in the toolset and I have checked the location of the objects, checked the range and the difficulty and my character should have no problem spotting them. I've stood in the correct place for both doors for several minutes and have not managed to locate either door. As you can imagine now being unable to continue at all, it is pretty frustrating. Any tips on how to progress? How far off the end of the module is this section? Is it worth starting the next module with a character export? Are there any other secret doors that will prevent plot progression further on?
Thanks and regards

Taxing- One of the best modules I've ever done

Hi there.
I've got a serious problem with this chapter:
After playing through chapters 1 and 2 with a true Drow (I've installed the PRC on the whole series), I started chapter 3.
As the Lolth vision comes up, she says "Ah, there you are, my child." Then, without saying anything else, she charges, attacks and kills me. After that had happened and I was just laying around dead after choosing respawn, I took the character into a leveling module, leveled her to 40 and started again. Lolth attacked again, but I beat her. After dying she stood back up, was now passive and not even selectable anymore. So killing her was obviously wrong too.
Could it be because of the PRC ?

Playing again this time with a female rogue/fighter.
This time I cannot pass the final boss. Some of his offensive spells will do over 100 HP of damages (no save) and his defenses are up with no way to reduce or dispel them.
Not sure how my monk managed to defeat that guy my monk certainly have more HP.
Do we just hit, run and wait for all the buffs to vanish?

I have to say, that, for me, these are getting worse in quality. I keep running into sequence/conversational logic issues where people are telling me about stuff before they are supposed to. That coupled with some strange area designs without transitions and the final cutscene that does not complete. The cutscene with the band of adventurers KILLED ME, it took so long and there was no way to skip out after I saw it already. Finally, it would help to have a store or two to dump loot, and maybe 1 set of monk gauntlets somewhere (not even on the monk in the party that I killed!).
I continue to be intrigued in the series, so I will play part4 to see how things progress.

Finished the module (reloaded to get the brain) but I want to play it again because pass the spiders I did everything way to fast taking all the right paths right away I believe it is probably why I finished the module at level 12.
Entered chapter by accident and was attacked by one NPC for no reason.

Still playing with my monk.
The mod is still faily easy so far.
I took the skull to the right creatures.
Now I have to give a brain away but it is not there (as mentioned in some earlier post).
Can somebody post what would the DM spawn item command be to get it?
Thanks.
Note: We Linux/Mac users are not able to open a module w the toolset

Nevermind, re-tried the next day and it worked fine. Did change anything what so ever, but no problems anymore. Neither with 5. Nice word.
eagerly awaiting part 6 now...

Hmm, I read some more people had problems with loading chapter 4. Same here. I get the load screen (with handy tips) but it freezes there. After awhile a message appears, stating that neverwinter nights has encounter a problem and has to close.
I re-d/l the module AND the hakpack, but still no results.
Anyone has another suggestion? Would still like to play chap. 4, since i did enjoy 1,2 & 3

Hi! I love these modules and actually finished chapter 5 earlier today. I only encountered one problem through all the chapters and I believe it was in this chapter.
*spoiler*
When I encountered an adventuring party while scouting for an exit out of the underdark I discovered the option of pretending to be a good-natured Drow and convince the adventuring party to attack the den of Bugbears in the passage nearby (still with me). Afterwards you can attack the weakened party and you find a key to the bugbears treasure room. The problem I had is that the journal entry for this was broken, i.e. listed as an error and a blank journal entry.
I had trouble with completing the beholders quest and the driders quest because the mindflayer and the lich guy did not drop the stuff to confirm their kill. I finally got the mindflayer brain after three tries when he happened to drop 3 gold along with his brain - but the first two times, there was nothing on his corpse - same with the lich, I killed him by smashing the phillacrity, but the driders didn't not know it, because I probably have to get his head or something and he just droped an empty corpse.

Awesome mod! Seems like it bit off a bit more than it could chew, though, as far as the author's ability to convey the complex plot.

The first two modules were very good indeed, but I am stuck in this one:
When the module begins, I don't have the drow bonuses as usual (magic resistance and stat bonuses)
And after a while (generally after seing the mage being attacked and "killed"), I am stuck and completely unable to move or act
I had this effect in version 1.62 and 1.64 HOU
