Very buggy. The puzzles were obscure and frusterating. Combats were very badly balanced. Worst of the series by far, from a huge fan of the Tomb of Horrors.
Ok, I've really been enjoying the series up till now, but I'm literally at the point of tearing my hair out! I'm right at the final portal, and every time I try to go through it, I get zapped for 500 pts magical damage and all my items are stolen. Is this some kind of killer bug? (ha ha grrr!) I went through the walkthrough, and apparently I'm supposed to go through that portal, meaning I can't finish the mod at all! (which, despite this problem, I really want to do!) What the heck is going on here? Is there some kind of workaround? (like an area code I can teleport to using the console)?
Hmmm, funny thing about Foolkiller, with a little UMD it makes Acererak an EASY kill... does the crystal really send you to his lair?

Good series so far. Play through chapter 5. Glad for my rogue skills through the loonng dungeon.
I roamed around near the end not knowing how to survive that last portal and finally found the merchants.
The only problem I had was at the very end. After I decided to keep the The screen blacked out and I had to exit out via task manager. It may have been because I didn't have Chapter 6 installed? I was expecting the Sage but he never appeared.... was he suppose to?
thanks,

Someday I'll install cep so I can continue the series and finish the next chapter.

Pretty much a straight-forward dungeon crawl. Not that that's a bad thing. The combat in this module was about right for my rogue/wizard/shadowdancer - not too easy, not too difficult (though the boss fights were easier than I expected). Finding my way around the tomb was occasionally frustrating. On the other hand, I'm glad that I could finally access my henchman's inventory, and that the merchants finally seemed to have an unlimited gold supply, and that most of the gear I looted from the elves chasing me wasn't stolen.

Played the entire series, and I think this is the best module. I really enjoyed the series and I think it's one of the finest in the vault. I just thought that after all the hours of fun that the author provided for me , the least I could do was take the time to vote on each module. Thanks

I have to admit that I liked this module the least of the 6. The storyline is really good, I just didn't like the dungeon at the end of the module. I've just finished chapter 6. I played all 6 straight through. You have a real knack for storytelling. Keep up the good work.

good start ... but I did not love that dungeon crawling. Sorry ... the author's strenght is the design of exteriour maps (especially from an astetic point of view). _________________________ "If it had been the Captain doing it, the cat would be lost, the tree burned down, and the old lady would be traveling with us now." - S.J.

Fantastic time playing, crawl's a bit long but still a great series
Made it to the portal at the end, had the 3 items, still got killed, I know this is a problem since 3(!!!) years,
so please explain how to get to the netherese deadguy without being always killed by the main villain: the portal.

An excellent series. I put other mods as a priority because I assumed this series would be too Drizzt fanboy orientated. But I could'nt have been more wrong, it really sets the tone for the environment, reminding me alot of R'A Salvatore's books but still seeming original.
Other people have been put off by a few spelling/grammatical errors, but I'm quite grateful that the author (who is German as I understand it) is willing to release the series in English.
There should be a seperate rating scheme for modules this good.

I loved this mod up to Acerak.
After a few hours I just gave up and exported my character and loaded 6.
Overall, it was a terrific mod with plenty of really nice touches.

The whole series is great, but...
Part 5 is in my opinion the weakest of the 6 mods in this series. I just don't like big dungeons (the pyramid in this case) with so many traps, hidden doors and running around while searching for the next missing item or hint.
One thing I don't like at all: You can collect so many items, but without being able to identify them or get them identified they are completely useless.

is the sage ment to attack you when you choose the evil path at the end of ch5? He seems to attack with no premable reason or explanation. I can not beat him I do not think I should be fighting him in the first place. why is he attacki9ng me?

Hmmmmm .... after cooling down I suspect my comments were a little harsh. I was only frustrated because of how good the story was. I guess I just hate puzzle type stories ...

This is one of the most diabolical modules out there. On the one hand it has a brilliant story line, great characters and plotting and wonderful twists. On the other are puzzles so frustrating and unfun they make you weep, and bosses that are near impossible to harm let alone defeat. The good stuff makes you crave for more. The bad stuff makes you pull your hair out. Its kind of like walking on a florida beach at spring break - barefoot over broken glass. Another problem with the puzzles is that many of them have several steps involved, but there is no feedback as to whether you are actually affecting the world or not (eg. the Dreaded lever puzzle). I gave up wandering around the tomb of horrors once I realized that it was nothing BUT puzzles and bosses that were about 12 challenge levels too high. Another problem is that the magic treasure you get is pretty useless as there are damned few places in the campaign to get the goodies identified, and forget about actually buying from a merchant. I walked around for two of the chapters looking for a shield .... a bloody hunk of wood to ward off weapon blows - nada.
Anyway, I am not going to rant about something that someone obviously worked very hard on and gave away for free. The only reason I am SO frustrated is because the story and the telling ARE quite engrossing. The authour has a real talent for story telling. Unfortunately the bosses and puzzles are the kiss of death when it comes to my preferences. If I could recommend anything to someone I would say definitely play the campaign as long as you have a walkthrough for each chapter, and in the tool kit give yourself a +6 Vorpal/Keen sword that you will only use in boss fights in this chapter.
PS- Supposedly there is a walkthrough for chapter 5 which is a damned fine idea, but I have tried several different downloads and there was no walktrough present. So I have given up. Told ya I hate puzzles

Hi. great mod. but i can't find the forth peculiar gem to solve the father-son riddle.
I love the series so far and my lvl 4/4/8 rogue, barbarian, assassine kicks ass.
but i would use better portraits. adds a lot to the atmosphere. There are a lot of cool drow portraits that you could have used.

This module is basically a huge dungeon crawl. The crawl, however, is quite well done and hardly gets boring.
I would have liked to see more interaction with the only available henchman. Moreover, I consider a dungeon crawl a pretty bad setting which offers few opportunities to express my role. Since this one kept me pretty interested most of the time, I'll give it a "9". _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

I think I'm also missing something... I climbed down the trap door behind the balor, but now I don't know what to do in this area...
I read that there's a secret door in the preparation room, but I've been searching the room for 1 hour and found nothing... do I need to do something up front to open this secret door? Or what am I supposed to do here? _________________________ One feels inclined to say that the idea that man should be "happy" is not included in the plan of "creation". - Sigmund Freud

This is a great mod. Thanks.
There should be a chance for wizards to cast spells into there robes before the game starts. I played the whole campain and was totaly unprepared for the ambush at the Beginning.
