This is partly tutorial and partly reference. Users are expected to have already read Huntsman's tutorials on henchman creation. It should be equally useful if you are using a community henchman system, such as the MBH kit, since this goes beyond basic hencman creation.
Contains: All the standard levelup packages described, How to make custom level-up packages, Scripting examples on making dual-class henchmen, all the things you need to know but nobody mentioned, Premade custom .2das for all classes, and Those Files That went Missing!
Cheers! :)
Version 1.01 has just two minor changes: There's a ready made hak file (only 100kb!) with all the premade custom packages, and a download without the pdf file for those who are content to use the MS Word document. That's a much smaller file to download, as well.

I've been needing to learn more about this, especially with future plans I have. Thanks for putting this out here for us.

Thank you very, very much. I have been trying to do something like this for a while, but the amount of work required to even see the whole picture (let alone start painting new ones) has been so prohibitive that I've put it on the backburner. Your package is brilliant at explaining everything. Would give this more than ten if I could! _________________________ KotOR Heads FR Deity and Faction Cloaks Fall-from-Grace Soundset

Very useful. Although the documentation is missing a few things such as cross-class skills, # of feats per level, etc. But still, a very solid 9.5.

I went looking for this for a group adventure project I am a part of. I've used this several times in the past and can not believe I didn't vote for it. It's a great reference if building custom henchmen and a fantastic tool. A definite must-have. Thanks Nereng!

Nothing but a 10 will do for the work done by nereng. I have worked with him on another system. Which is also quite nice, the "No Scripting" module, er or very little needed to get a module up an running. :)

In your instructions you mention that the AI never makes good use of wildshape. This is very, very true. I have a druid companion in one of my mods and I would love to know how to stop her from getting the wildshape feat, or at least stopping her from using it altogether. She keeps turning into the most useless creature in the middle of a fight (badger).
I have recently begun to look at the changes Bioware made in 1.69 to determine if, and if so how far, the information in The Supplement is out of date. So far I have only found one thing worth mentioning: Paladins now cast spells normally. It looks like the new riding feats and skills have been given a very low priority in the new packages 2das, so that the description of the level-up packages is still correct for all practical purposes.
I'll make an update once I have made a complete survey of all the 2das involved, but until then you can still rely on the information provided here as being "almost certainly" (hehe!) accurate!
Cheers! :)

This is an excellent resource. It helped me to fix my specialized henchman. I'd give it a 10 just for the reference info. The 2da's are bonus. _________________________ My book: "Rojuun" Link

Anything that helps me understand what the bloody hell I am doing with henchmen deserves a ten. Very nice work and much appreciated.

This is a really nice reference AND set of tools. Thanks a lot!
I should have guessed that was the problem! I have done the same mistake often enough! lol
No, I don't think a NPC with the wrong alignment will be levelled up in 1.68 or any other version for that matter. It's just something you'll have to be on the lookout for.
Cheers!

Nereng,
The problem with the Character cration wizard in the Toolset was that the Elf Druid was set to Chaotic Good. I had to change the alignment to True Neutral, and the AutoLevelUpTo() script worked. I am using patch 1.66, so I don't know if the 1.68 patch will level up a Chaotic Good Druid?
I had no problems with that during the writing of The Henhcman Supplement. I tried it several times when I made the custom 2das for the druid class, and the levelling up as such caused no problems. Can you describe any problems you've been having? As far as I can tell, none of the changes in patch 1.68 should cause problems, but you never can tell fo certain, of course...
Cheers! :)

Anyone ever had problems leveling up a druid henchman?
Posted by Poecile at 2006-08-30 09:34:20 Voted 9.75
Yeah, the OnPerception script is a good one to use, I tried it out using LevelHenchmanUpTo (for multi-class) and it worked like a charm.
What I had in mind was meeting a henchman during a battle and I guess I needed a higher level henchie in order to survive the fight. I didn't know that the Toolset Wizard is not compatible with the Level-up process, but your pdf helped clear up that problem.
I also figure I should do my part to counter the low vote/download ratio. 8-)
