This utility will add colors to the new (1.68) visible cloaks in NWN data files. It will work on saved games, modules, character files, etc., and it will automatically create backups. If you find a file type that I missed, let me know.
Currently, it is known that this utility will not work on database files (because they have a different format than other NWN files) and Premium Modules (because they are encrypted).
Players may find this useful for updating saved games and older modules. Builders may find this useful for updating modules. System admins may find this useful for updating server vault characters.
If your saved game or module uses an old hak that overrides baseitems.2da, then you may lose the colors the next time you load your file. If this happens, check out my Cloak Hakker.
The current version of this utility no longer requires that files be saved under NWN 1.68. This required a new approach, in which more things could go wrong. To be on the safe side, I've made an older version (0.3) available. This older version only works on files saved under 1.68, but might work if the current version fails. (Note: modules could be tricky with this older version since the Toolset only updates those areas that have changed.) If the current version does fail, please let me know.
You can drag files from Windows Explorer into the Cloak Converter window.
Control-o is now a shortcut for opening a file.
If there's something missing, or you encounter a bug, let me know.
There is also Cloak Converter for Mac and Linux, although the Windows version should work well enough under Wine.

A very useful tool for updating older modules. Thanks!

Well, I'm not sure how would I rate this, since it's not a mod, but what the heck - here's a ten, for the simple, functional interface and quick solution to the annoying problem.
Great work. _________________________ =====================================

Heh. This won't become totally obsolete since it will still be useful for older modules that are no longer maintained.
(It just won't be needed for the BioWare campaigns, assuming BioWare finishes fixing them -- there are still a few uncolored cloaks in the original and Hordes campaigns in 1.69 beta 8.)

just casting my vote, before this converter becomes obsolete. a clear 10 imho. does what it says, no bugs, foolproof!
Stiff cloaks are usually a result of an older animation override, but I haven't heard of the metallic look before. The cloaks were not stiff before running Cloak Converter? Any difference if you (temporarily) empty your override directory?
Running into an issue with all the colored cloaks looking metallic and stiff after running converter. In addition, all of their icons are transparent now. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thank you! Very useful and self-explanatory application.
I haven't abandoned my projects. There have been no updates because there have been no problems reported to me.
Also, abandoning a project after completion would not make someone a bad designer, since the work of a designer is finished before release. Abandonment would be a sign of bad support.
Hmmm.... what sort of documentation would raise this program above "basically useless"? I thought about documentation, but I didn't know what to say. After all, it starts by prompting you to select a file, so getting started is self-explanatory. In addition, I thought the menus were simple and standard enough to not require explanation. With about 2000 downloads and no other similar complaints at this point, I'm inclined to think documentation is not really needed, but I'm willing to write something up if someone would tell me what is not self-explanatory.

Breakdown of my rating, assuming a default of a perfect 10:
1. Without documentation, a program is basically useless. Minus 50% for that. I'm being very forgiving on this point.
2. Minus 0.25 for not being able to batch select files in the Open window, which is possible in CloakHakker. The drag/drop ability totally mitigates this, but I shouldn't have to leave the program to do it. There's no excuse for it.
3. Minus 50% again for the fact that this utility has been on the site for over a solar year, and yet neither of these problems have been fixed. Abandoning your projects makes you a poor designer.
4. Minus another 50% for the fact that the program freezes while it works, giving no visible indication of whether it has become a zombie process or is still alive. This is just plain bad coding.
5. I rounded up, in your favor.

Great utility! I'm going to use this every time I see one of those drab tan cloaks from now on :D

The_Krit deserves the praise. Great programs you put out for this burning issue with cloaks. Should have submitted a comment and a vote long ago. See you around the self help desk.
Schlomo, I don't think it's strange that this works on Daggerford saves, provided you either have the latest version of the Daggerford hak (1.2, dated 10/10/06) or fed an older version of that hak to my Cloak Hakker. (The problems others have had with Daggerford were with the old hak.) If this was still not working for Daggerford, that would be strange enough for me to investigate further.

Hmmm, this is strange. It works perfectly for my Daggerford savegames.

Excellent tool, a great community-made fix for an annoying bug.

Ooops I forgot to vote here. Thanks Krit for this very useful tool!
This looks very cool. I figured someone would do this eventually.
There's one question I didn't see covered - the 1.68 cloaks conceal wings created by programs such as spetnaz_admiral's online character creator extender. Does this converter program allow said wings?
By the way - on a side note - thanks, Krit, for your info about the shiny water problem on ATI cards. ;)

This is a wonderful utility module. I curse myself that I didn't use it sooner. (I was updating hackpacks and colouring cloaks by hand... and that didn't work for ones carried by NPCs anyway without going through the entire module I intended to play,)
Great work!

Micha_LNH_HSV: Do you know of a way to make this easier to find? I try to avoid spamming ads, but if I missed a legit place this should be mentioned, I could remedy that.
