Got the idea from Pinellius Pico's (kanik) excellent work. Once in override, all NPC voicesets should be available to PC's, but only by appropriate gender. Note: All NPC sets are not complete. No need to switch files for other gender. Added one new voiceset to male listing that was in the game resources but I didn't see in the .2da (Zor the Minotaur). Let me know of any problems. Edit: update 6/19/03 Updated for SoU XP1...should allow use of XP henchman and NPC voice sets. Not sure how this will affect your game if you don't have XP1...use at your own risk. Just download, rename to 'soundset.2da', and put it in your nwn/override directory.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 20 that made this score of 6.80 then rounded to 7.

Yes I agree, please make one for HotU! I beg of you!

I loved using your file for SoU, but now that HotU is out, I feel all alone with just the normal Voice Files. Is there a chance you would work on unlocking the new Hordes NPC voices?

Huh, looks like I didn't really finish what i was saying...You uncheck the aforementioned box and press ok, then you find your file and it should be called blahblah.2da.txt, rename it and delete the .txt, it will prompt you about changing the file type, press ok. that should do it. I hope --this-- helps.

Alright, for all of you who cant get the file to do anything, this is probably because you cannot see its file extension, so you are only changing its name, not its extension, without doing that, it remains a text file. To see the file extensions, go to the Tools menu in the folder with the file (any folder will do, really), and choose folder options. Click the 'view' tab, its the second one over, and scroll down until you find 'Hide file extensions for known file types', its right below the hidden files sub-choices. Mind you, Im running Windows 2000, so if you cant find this in XP, try putting it in classic view and look again. Hope this helps!

I downloaded the file and its now a 2da file in my override folder... But when I make a new character the new voices won't show up! Please help...

I'll probably figure it out before anyone answers, but why is my overide file empty? I mean flat out empty entirely.

It's just a list...

How are you soppoesed to put it in your override folder?
Posted by Jyro X ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-08-19 08:37:00
Aw, damn. I'm sorry to the creator of this. You should have changed the title. I uploaded my 2da overrides without seeing these. I thought these were your old ones(pre-SoU). You can post a link to this file on my upload if you want. Sorry again. I didn't see it.

That's a bit mean, Dos. Now anyway, what's your favorite voiceset? I love the female child's last warcry "hahaha, you will die!".

OK, I just installed SoU and put this file as "soundset.2da" in my override directory. But when I get into character creation, it shows NO voices at all. If I take the file out, it shows the standard voice sets again. Any help? This would seem simple enough, but apparently not quite.

ok i tried many diferent ways and ive been renameing the file to soundset.2da and putting it in my overide directory, is there anything else i have to do? i tried renaming the folder to soundset.2da, but i havent tried that yet, and im sure just a text file isint going to work, is there a way to turn this text file into a real file? or is it supposoed to be a text file?

Most of you are pathetic retards who post before you even read others posts/answers. Wraethrax, do you just click whatever little windows popup in front of you without reading its message? Otherwise you would know that when you install SoU that it asks to backup your override folder (overide_bak) and that is the reason you have two. Nice work mate even though it did require a bit of fiddling to get it working properly with all vanilla and XP1 voicesets. Now if only I could figure out why some produce a hak+2da pack to get the same effect with 50X the effort.

Installed SoU 1.30
Just to let you know Melthavion your 2da unlocked all the old NWN voicesets (NPC's etc) but unlocked none of the SoU voicesets and wiped all the standard SoU voicesets.

I'd love ot hear these voicesets, but I did all the steps that were outlined in the posts below and now I have 0 voicesets to choose from.
Anyone know if I have to do any more than saving the file to my override folder and renaming it to 'soundset.2da'?
I seem to have 2 other override folders as well, but the other two have extensions like override_bak or something.

Dammit, it got rid of my SoU voicesets... either that or i broke them when i accidently deleated them... (i restored them though, so they should be working).

I don't usually bother posting comments, because nothing usually impresses me this much, but I have to say well done! This actually worked first time, no fuss. It was simple, quick and brilliant, and no HAK files, which means this *may* work online ok ... I hope ... Either way, even if it doesn't, I'll reccomend it to anyone I see, as it truly impresses me ... now if there was a similar thing for models, I'd be really happy, imagine a helmed horror ... and the icons ... Well done, and thank you!

This appears to be the only voiceset I found that works with SOU..THANKS for that :).
But from a rp-view I would love to be able to acces the wolf voicesets...is there a way I can do it by modifying the file?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
thx

I have d/l'ed several soundsets and most seem to work fairly well. My question about this file hasn't been answered by reading through the comments, and I am VERY interested in this file because of the SoU content. So, here's my question:
Does this file allow access to the SoU voices if you are a non-SoU owner? (I'm assuming this is a "NO", but I figured the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.)
It would be excellent to be able to use the SoU voices, have the ability to hear them and have others be able to hear them as well, ESPECIALLY for us non-SoU owners.
(Yeah, I know it's been out a while. So why haven't I purchased the expansion yet? Simple. I haven't seen the expansion yet where I live because of two reasons: Either the expansion is not carried yet or is sold out, depending on which retailer you visit.)
Anyway, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

bah, that was implied. Anyhow it would be awesome if the other voicesets had curse, taunt and other ones. Shame it isn't so.

gah! i have windows xp and it won't let me change the file extension..or at least i can't figure out how. can somebody help a poor girl out?
Posted by gktok ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-26 10:36:00
good stuff. been looking for something like this for awhile. highly recommended if anyone is looking for more options than what's currently in the default voiceset.
BTW if you are having problems downloading, try right clicking, select "save target as", then click OK. now go to that downloaded item on your PC. Change the name to "soundset.2da". Then just drop it in your override folder of the NWN directory.
And yes it does work even if you have 1.29 patch. I don't have the 1.30 patch.
Posted by Starfox ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-26 03:36:00
Neo222, you missed one critical thing in your instruction - the name of the file should be "soundset.2da", nothing else!
Posted by neo222 ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-25 11:33:00
for a while i couldn't get it to work but now it does and i must say it owns. Especially more so as other people can actually HEAR it (unlike the other one i downloaded)!
Here's what you do:
1: Right click on the download file link.
2: save it in the nwn/overide folder as a text file called soundsets.2da
3: go to the override folder and rename it, getting rid of the .txt extension.
4: it will then say this will change the file type and it might not work, click ok.
5: The file will now be in .2da format and they should work.
Posted by ChurchofVirus ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-23 13:23:00
Okay. For those who couldn't get it working..
Goto folder options in Nwn/Override and uncheck the box "hide file extentions" then rename the file to soundset.2da
Anyways none of the SoU voicesets are included with this. Not even the basic default SoU are in it. I think you need to check it.

When I uploaded the file compressed into a rar file, it was easy to download and contained the correctly named file when you extracted it. People complained about having to use a compression program, so I uploaded the raw 2da file. NWVaul automatically renames files you upload, so the actual 2da is getting renamed now. Also, 2da files are just plain text, so if your browser detects this it might open the file as a text file rather than saving it to your HDD. In this case come back to this screen, right click on the link, and choose "save target as". You can either save the file as, or rename the file afterwards, to "soundset.2da". After it is downloaded and named correctly, move it to your /nwn/override/ directory. Fire up the game and make a new character.
Someone asked about changing the voiceset of a character already created. You can do this if you have access to the .bic file. You'll need a program such as Leto (you can find it here on the Vault).
