Got the idea from Pinellius Pico's (kanik) excellent work. Once in override, all NPC voicesets should be available to PC's, but only by appropriate gender. Note: All NPC sets are not complete. No need to switch files for other gender. Added one new voiceset to male listing that was in the game resources but I didn't see in the .2da (Zor the Minotaur). Let me know of any problems. Edit: update 6/19/03 Updated for SoU XP1...should allow use of XP henchman and NPC voice sets. Not sure how this will affect your game if you don't have XP1...use at your own risk. Just download, rename to 'soundset.2da', and put it in your nwn/override directory.
I have d/l'ed several soundsets and most seem to work fairly well. My question about this file hasn't been answered by reading through the comments, and I am VERY interested in this file because of the SoU content. So, here's my question: Does this file allow access to the SoU voices if you are a non-SoU owner? (I'm assuming this is a "NO", but I figured the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.) It would be excellent to be able to use the SoU voices, have the ability to hear them and have others be able to hear them as well, ESPECIALLY for us non-SoU owners. (Yeah, I know it's been out a while. So why haven't I purchased the expansion yet? Simple. I haven't seen the expansion yet where I live because of two reasons: Either the expansion is not carried yet or is sold out, depending on which retailer you visit.) Anyway, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

bah, that was implied. Anyhow it would be awesome if the other voicesets had curse, taunt and other ones. Shame it isn't so.

good stuff. been looking for something like this for awhile. highly recommended if anyone is looking for more options than what's currently in the default voiceset. BTW if you are having problems downloading, try right clicking, select "save target as", then click OK. now go to that downloaded item on your PC. Change the name to "soundset.2da". Then just drop it in your override folder of the NWN directory. And yes it does work even if you have 1.29 patch. I don't have the 1.30 patch.

Neo222, you missed one critical thing in your instruction - the name of the file should be "soundset.2da", nothing else!

for a while i couldn't get it to work but now it does and i must say it owns. Especially more so as other people can actually HEAR it (unlike the other one i downloaded)! Here's what you do: 1: Right click on the download file link. 2: save it in the nwn/overide folder as a text file called soundsets.2da 3: go to the override folder and rename it, getting rid of the .txt extension. 4: it will then say this will change the file type and it might not work, click ok. 5: The file will now be in .2da format and they should work.

Okay. For those who couldn't get it working.. Goto folder options in Nwn/Override and uncheck the box "hide file extentions" then rename the file to soundset.2da Anyways none of the SoU voicesets are included with this. Not even the basic default SoU are in it. I think you need to check it.

When I uploaded the file compressed into a rar file, it was easy to download and contained the correctly named file when you extracted it. People complained about having to use a compression program, so I uploaded the raw 2da file. NWVaul automatically renames files you upload, so the actual 2da is getting renamed now. Also, 2da files are just plain text, so if your browser detects this it might open the file as a text file rather than saving it to your HDD. In this case come back to this screen, right click on the link, and choose "save target as". You can either save the file as, or rename the file afterwards, to "soundset.2da". After it is downloaded and named correctly, move it to your /nwn/override/ directory. Fire up the game and make a new character. Someone asked about changing the voiceset of a character already created. You can do this if you have access to the .bic file. You'll need a program such as Leto (you can find it here on the Vault).
