NWNMultiLang is intended to help builders using the multi language features of the NWN toolset or just have a look at all text of a module in one file. Even if you dont want to translate your module, this tool may help you. - Sketch a conversation in the toolset, export and have it edited and fleshed out in your favourite editor. - Write out all text of your module for a thourough error check. What it does: - Looks into a module and scans it for text fields in Areas, Dialogs, Journal, Blueprints and General Items. - Looks into the scripts and tries to find text strings. - Writes all text for all found languages out to one big text file for you to edit. - Switches the default english language to any supported language you like. - You can look up the scripts where text was found and alter them to your liking. - After the editing is done, NWNMultiLang builds a new module that contains all edited text. - The module may be further edited with the toolset as usual.

One of the most useful NWN tools I've ever found! Wish I knew about it sooner :)

My mistake it _does_ do journal text (both ways). (User error ^^;)
Posted by PaulBlay at 2006-11-16 08:15:56 Voted 9.00 on 11/15/06
It doesn't seem to have got the Journal text. Text in script is exported but not imported.

This needs to get 25 votes and be in the hall of fame.
Don't suppose it's going to happen though.

Happy to have this, because without it my translating job on CEP 2.0 would be a mess.

Great Tool reduced my work while translating cep 2.0 erf files. Without it I would not know how to manage that task.

It is a very convenient tool. I am man who translates directly by the toolset. The check on the translation etc. are becoming the necessity and indispensable the tool.

I'm still at the early stages of trying this out but it doesn't seem to _import_ the translated _script_ lines.

Ah!
I notice it's been updated June 29th so it can't be 'that' abandoned.

[Vote text doesn't show up in the comments?]
Obviously it isn't ideal that a program be seemingly 'abandoned' by it's creator.
However Amerlock isn't very clear in under exactly what circumstances this 'bug' turns up. I wonder if maybe he's been editing conversations in the Toolset and then over-writing them with NWN Multilang ?
In any case I'm voting 8.5 subject to later revision.

I like the fact that it copies the male strings to female if not defined, that is exactly what I was looking for. The program works fine so far. :)
Well just to say i am highly PO'd at this system.. It is bugging to much.. yeah it works well for extracting all of the files and everything. But if you do it one by one translate them and them import them into your mod one by one it erases all of the work you done to the previouse conversation.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHh ive already translated several things and we can not bring theml in just one at a time....... RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I am really Ticked here....... Anyways hope theres going to be an Update if not junk this area..... This thing really *BEEPS*
I know this is an old topic and everything but im hopin someday that someone will answer me..
My problem is this.. I can export and import conversation files with absolutely NO PROBLEM.. That works great.. BUT when i select all files and select a group of files like DMFI ( all of them Scripts, blueprints etc.. of the DMFI) It exports them just fine, but when i go to import them into the mod they do not import at all...... Could someone help me please and tell me what the prob is cause i cannot find it.. Thanks ( even though im wishing that someone is going to see this one day)

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 7 that made this score of 7.29 then rounded to 7.

When I select all of the files (I need them all in english) I attempt to translate it by changing the english to english, to english to german. The orginal program is in german. I use like a random text on notepad for the filetext of the ABCs. I save it as a module, go and test it, and it still in german! So I cannot figure out how to do it.
Posted by gTach ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-12-16 08:02:00
Hm, of course it is possible and the main purpose of this program. I did a translation from english to german, so it should be possible to do it vice versa. :-)
Alas, the tool does it not automagically, the translation needs still be done by you, but the tool helps a lot. It allows even a mulitlanguage version of the module, containing both german and english text, hence the name. :-)
What's your problem precisely?

Ok I feel stupid. Is it possible to translate a game from german to english? Or have I been wasting my time?
Posted by gTach ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-26 04:29:00
Hi!
Thanks for comments and downloads. As christmas is nearing do I hear any wishes? :-)
@Primogenitor: Hm, do you mean to translate automatically via babelfish? Might be possible of course, but I always thought these translations leave a lot to be desired. I think I'll give it a try, though.
@bluekey88: What error do you get? Does the import run flawslessly? At this time it is necessary NOT to change the module while editing the exported text. Perhaps you need to send me module and exported text so I may have a look.
Greetings
Rüdiger

Looks like a cool program. I'm actually using it to edit my mod...y'know spell check grammar and what not. However I've been unable to get the text file I create to import back into a mod. It creates a mod, but the toolset won't open it. Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?
Peace,
Erik

Just a wild suggestion, but could it be possible to link it to a web-based translation service, google or altavistas babelfish, for example. Then you could put in an english (or french etc) module and get out a module in all other languages too.
Dont know how well it would work, probably not that great, but might be beter than not having any other multi-language support?

Thanks for the nice comments and votings so far. If you can think of anything to fix or enhance, please eMail to me. Bioware is documenting the template structs currently, so perhaps this info may be included soon, giving more info to the otherwise bare text.

Great Work, Rüdiger!
This is extremely useful for my attempts to make my modules bi-lingual. Keep up the good work!

Very impressive!
The greatest tool I've ever seen before. Almost all features translaters had desired are implemented, and well formed output text file.
