NWNMultiLang is intended to help builders using the multi language features of the NWN toolset or just have a look at all text of a module in one file. Even if you dont want to translate your module, this tool may help you. - Sketch a conversation in the toolset, export and have it edited and fleshed out in your favourite editor. - Write out all text of your module for a thourough error check. What it does: - Looks into a module and scans it for text fields in Areas, Dialogs, Journal, Blueprints and General Items. - Looks into the scripts and tries to find text strings. - Writes all text for all found languages out to one big text file for you to edit. - Switches the default english language to any supported language you like. - You can look up the scripts where text was found and alter them to your liking. - After the editing is done, NWNMultiLang builds a new module that contains all edited text. - The module may be further edited with the toolset as usual.
Hm, of course it is possible and the main purpose of this program. I did a translation from english to german, so it should be possible to do it vice versa. :-) Alas, the tool does it not automagically, the translation needs still be done by you, but the tool helps a lot. It allows even a mulitlanguage version of the module, containing both german and english text, hence the name. :-) What's your problem precisely? gTach

Ok I feel stupid. Is it possible to translate a game from german to english? Or have I been wasting my time?

Hi! Thanks for comments and downloads. As christmas is nearing do I hear any wishes? :-) @Primogenitor: Hm, do you mean to translate automatically via babelfish? Might be possible of course, but I always thought these translations leave a lot to be desired. I think I'll give it a try, though. @bluekey88: What error do you get? Does the import run flawslessly? At this time it is necessary NOT to change the module while editing the exported text. Perhaps you need to send me module and exported text so I may have a look. Greetings Rüdiger

Looks like a cool program. I'm actually using it to edit my mod...y'know spell check grammar and what not. However I've been unable to get the text file I create to import back into a mod. It creates a mod, but the toolset won't open it. Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong? Peace, Erik

Just a wild suggestion, but could it be possible to link it to a web-based translation service, google or altavistas babelfish, for example. Then you could put in an english (or french etc) module and get out a module in all other languages too. Dont know how well it would work, probably not that great, but might be beter than not having any other multi-language support?

Thanks for the nice comments and votings so far. If you can think of anything to fix or enhance, please eMail to me. Bioware is documenting the template structs currently, so perhaps this info may be included soon, giving more info to the otherwise bare text.

Great Work, Rüdiger! This is extremely useful for my attempts to make my modules bi-lingual. Keep up the good work! Ralf

Very impressive! The greatest tool I've ever seen before. Almost all features translaters had desired are implemented, and well formed output text file. Keep on good job.
